Breath of the Wild: Master Trials DLC
« on: July 05, 2017, 10:43:05 am »
Any of you playing this?  The Trial of the Sword is the absolute hardest Zelda thing ever.  Breath of the wild was the first real time in a VERY long time i died in a Zelda game.  Thought i was just horrid player till i was talking with my friends and they were saying how hard it was.  Game was wonderful loved the challenge and breakup of the Zelda mold.

This "Cave of Trials" far super-cedes Twilight Princess and others i have played.

Any of you had any luck with it?  Finally beat the first 12 levels last night.  Tried the next set and I was promptly defeated.  One thing i noticed that it is very important to use the dodge-strike in the game.  I rarely used while playing the main quest but use it all the time here.

I had some trouble with the beginning trials, I had no troubles with the middle trials and beat it on the first try right after finishing the beginning trials, the final trials  I only made to level 2 on my first try and promptly got destroyed by an electric keese.  It doesn't help that I didn't heal at all between trials so I went from beginning to final trials with no healing outside of the trials.

At that point I decided to heal and go at the final trials again.  I made it all the way to level 23 (The Final level) which is 1 Guardian Sniper on top a tower, 1 Silver Lynel, and 15 or so Bokoblins on horses.  I was promptly destroyed any way I went about the level.  The level starts and you are immediately seen by all 17-ish enemies.  So there is no sneaking or taking them down one by one.  The Lynel doesn't de-aggro, he just fires fire arrows at you from a distance (They strike like lightning and rarely miss).

I promptly gave up and have no intent of going back to it.

It's been torturing me. That final room of the already hard as hell final gauntlet, is impossible. I gave up. My Master Sword will only have 2 upgrades.

Hint: Use boosts before entering the gauntlet. And use a dragon horn in your recipes to make the boost last 30 minutes. It helps soooo much with a defense boost that lasts 30 minutes.

I'm hoping to finish it this week, but have not really felt like playing it.  Got stuck in the final set of trials.
Currently Playing: Dark Souls: Remastered (Switch)

WTF

Apparently Ancient Arrows 1 shot kill Lynels (and any other organic enemy for that matter).  This changes everything.

I just started this last night, made it to like Room 10 in Beginners and found out it's a one shot go per difficulty.  Rough losing that progress lol Gonna try and beat it this weekend being more mindful of the consequences.

You didn't know that? How did you get past the flying Guardians without those? Is there another way to kill them?

After killing those, you're left without any for the final lynel.

I sat up top and threw bombs at it until I broke all 3 propellers and then I beat the shit out of it.

Easy. to. kill.

Also, Regular/Fire/Bomb arrows at the propellers work too.

I'd be fucking done already if I knew that.  I never use Ancient Arrows.  Even on Guardians.  I break their legs and shoot them in the eye with regular arrows.

It's done. I did it when I got home from work today, after learning that the propellers can be broken off of those flying Guardians. Thank you!

I'm saving it for tomorrow.  I'm going to be out of town sitting around for hours.

Add a dragon horn or monster extract to boost the effect to 30 minutes.

Awesome thanks!  Got me though the second set with ease first time using that, no issues at all.

Started the third set and got spanked by the Black Moblin on floor 10.  Really pissed off as he hit me running down the stairs and then before i could recover and move he hit me again and i flew into the lava.  NO idea how that happened and i died.  What sucks is i still had two full mushrooms spikes that gave me full health.  I honestly wasn't expecting to get hit twice and die. Really ticked me off

1 Dragon Horn and 4 Armored Fish or Ironshrooms will do it.
