Your Favorite Sega Video Game Product
« on: July 08, 2017, 05:08:13 pm »
Inspired by oldgamerz thread

I like both my Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast. I was fortunate enough to buy both at launch, it was rough owning a North American Saturn during its early days constantly defending the system reputation, it wasn't until late 1998 I realized how many excellent exclusive imports never made it out of Japan.

Sega Dreamcast was a day-1 purchase for me, first time pre-ordering a system back in 9/9/99. After playing many Sega games at the local arcade venue knowing they will be on Dreamcast, I knew I had to have it.

Looking back I enjoyed these two systems the most, since early on I owned a NES, GB, and SNES and completely missed out on Master System, Sega Genesis, Sega-CD, Sega-32X, and Game Gear. Although the past few years I've been catching up on what I've missed out on, especially on Mega Drive.

Tell me what your favorite Sega hardware / product is.

Sega Genesis. The war between them and Nintendo was at it's height, and the competition drove them to create, IMO, their best console with the largest and most varied library of games.

As someone born in Brazil in the 80's, my first video game console was the Master System. And, even though nowadays it is not the system I play the most (this merit goes to the Saturn) it is still my favorite video game console of all time.

Besides, I think the red in black model 1 Master System looks gorgeous!

So despite the fact that I own a lot of Sega stuff, I've never actually really played any Sega games.

I've never really played anything on Genesis, 32X, Saturn, Sega CD, or Dreamcast.  Don't get me wrong, I played NBA Jam and Primal Rage on Genesis at a friend's house as a child for like 10 minutes.  And as an adult, I played WWF Royal Rumble on the Dreamcast for like 5 minutes.

So my default has to be Game Gear.  Which, before all of the capacitor issues and stuff, and if you used an AC adapter instead of batteries, it was a fine system.

100% the Sega Saturn. Growing up, it was always the console that fascinated me with its exclusives. We owned both a PS and an N64, so the Saturn stuff always made me wonder what could have been.

Now that I have a Saturn and had the chance to play some fantastic games, it's easily my favorite Sega product.
