I don't watch a ton of YouTube recently but I wanted to share this channel!
Right now I'm catching up on brutalmoose's stuff and his content is really great. He does cover quite a bit of obscure content that is for somewhat of a niche group in the majority his videos but I think you should check him out regardless. Basically, there's a lot of 90s PC game reviews and VHS movie reviews with a nice calm dude, if you're into that. He used to strictly do gaming for a while, and he still does, but he is currently branching out and experimenting. If the nostalgic content he provides isn't your fancy I'd suggest at least checking him out on Twitch under the same name, where he plays other games too! He makes for some good background noise as well as fun to interact with from my experience.

I like "The Gaming Historian" and "My Life in Gaming".

They're more documentary style videos about games and video picture tech, but it's freakin' awesome if you want to know the history behind the stuff you played so much as a kid.

Man, if stuff like that was on TV...

Edit: Just realized you talked about Gaming Historian. Whoops! Another I like is probably "Classic Gaming Quarterly".

My favorites is both of ProJared's channels. I'll often times will put his let's play playlists on while I'm gaming. I also watch a lot of MetalJesusRocks, and Caddicarus, but there are a few others I check out pretty often.

MichaelBtheGameGenie - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfybNODKggF9g0pZDiuvQiA - Lots of good reviews and loads of NES vids.
klaudkil - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAHhbxysgfBf3wdXxwIL44w - Playstation collector with a passion for playing.
Scarfulhu - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5qrE62e0455xvZ_QYfBYSA - Has the same feel as Caddicarus and does movie/game reviews.
dustinkreis - https://www.youtube.com/user/dustinkreis/featured - Does really good, and thorough, reviews.
CornshaqGaming - https://www.youtube.com/user/CornshaqGaming - This dude churns out reviews and lets play videos daily, and weekly.
NintendoComplete - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1hYTBZ0dFjntk9PQf0ld6g - NES Playthroughs

There's also the MetalJesus Militia:
John Riggs: RIGG'd Games - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8cZ9g1sopNc50D9NqVBbug - Not a huge collector, but loves to mod and repro games.
Radical Reggie - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCO5RU5avYXiDGxyLQI2RQGQ - Loves PlayStation and Import Smups!
John Hancock - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkDwUy-wt1adtSyd227TNdA - Insane collection!!!
Kelsey Lewin - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVfhjBPhPY41aHm4DAR4M6Q - Has a good handheld collection.
CircuitsandCoffee - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClVP9vnpAnJZXxaaO5uLjhg - Coffee, Computers, and video games.

Two I just recently found:

Cleanprincegaming (a lot of gaming 'essays'): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3-PFlYP-Nc

Arlo (Nintendo focused): https://www.youtube.com/user/ArloStuff

Also, although LGR doesn't do much console stuff, He has a lot of really cool videos about retro computing! Plus, his laugh is the best.  ;D

If you like dry humor, I highly recommend supergreatfriend. He's a let's player who specializes in cheesy horror games, but he's branched out quite a bit over the years. My personal favorite is his "Bully Demise" series, where he makes an ironic original character in a terrible wrestling game and imports it into other games for a goofy overarching story, though the end contains a lot of references to his other LPs that probably won't make sense to newcomers. AdumPlaze can also be pretty entertaining, but the co-hosts like to try way too hard for shock laughs, sometimes.
Always looking to buy Drakengard, Nier, and Siren collector's items.

I enjoy Classic Game Room, although I imagine most of you have heard of that one.

Guru Larry does a lot of stuff I don't see other people cover, especially in the Fact Hunt series.

And of course, I ADORE LoadingReadyRun. Part sketch, part twitch stream, all awesome. And for the next couple days, they'll be doing their annual Desert Bus for Hope charity stream, 24 hours a day! As of 6:40 on 11/20 they've earned $221,000 for Child's Play.

I'm not actually subscribed to all that many gaming channels. But one of my favourite channels is Clemps, he only has 41k subscribers and that is an absolute crime. His content is absolutely no worse and has no less effort put into than the bigger game analysis channels. He's a pretty standard story/gameplay analysis of games I like channel but he's a sweet funny guy and they're really interesting to watch. The sort of long videos you can chill to when you've got time to kill. And he's got more content about the original Nier (and a bit about Automata with more coming) than any other channel I've found so of course he deserves your time.
