Formatting of the tittle: theHunter: Call of the Wild

Most tiitles of these are formatted as theHunter:
https://vgcollect.com/item/111077
https://vgcollect.com/item/85376
https://vgcollect.com/item/128785
https://vgcollect.com/item/121053
https://vgcollect.com/item/135955

but I noticed few outliers (The Hunter and Hunter, The)
https://vgcollect.com/item/142709
https://vgcollect.com/item/143429

So I tried to edit them to match the more prominent spelling. But that got rejected, probably because spelling of this tittle is so 'unique'. Or would spelling "Hunter, the: Call of the Wild" or something similar be preferable?

EDIT: They can all be "theHunter" with exception to:
https://vgcollect.com/item/128785
which would be "Hunter, The" and have "theHunter" in alt-name.

It is a strange situation...

Hi! I was wondering about a change on the .hack//Quarantine games... Both the NA and JP releases were originally listed as it is officially formatted, but they both recently got changed while no other game in the series was changed and now they do not match. It seems like a really odd change since even official sources use ".hack//" as the series name. I rarely see "Dot Hack" or the lack of the // when using a subtitle on the full titles outside of casual conversation. I really think both pages should be changed back to match with the rest of the series, but my friend tried to change one and was rejected. I know the logo on the front cover of the NA version added the word "dot" on top of the actual dot, but I believe they did that so people knew for sure how to pronounce it.

The pages in question:
NA: https://vgcollect.com/item/1325
JP: https://vgcollect.com/item/47490

So the NA release should be titled ".hack//QUARANTINE" or ".hack//QUARANTINE Part 4". The Final Chapter part really isn't part of the title.

For the JP release, it should be ".hack//Zettai Houi Vol. 4" to match with the other 3 games.

Here's a link to the old US website, which despite being called "dothack.com" still formats the titles this way:
https://web.archive.org/web/20070617233033/http://www.dothack.com:80/gu/index.php
Sadly, it only goes back so far so it shows the GU games instead of the original series, but it still shows this formatting is used for the series officially in the US.

And the Japanese site, also showing them listed this way:
http://www.cc2.co.jp/hack/

Sorry for the long post, I just didn't want to go through the trouble of changing the whole series to match with these entries, or at least the other 3 games in the original series, when no one really uses this formatting at all. For reference, the spines on the US releases use just the ".hack//QUARANTINE" format without the use of part 4 and such.

Thank you!

Fifa 09 [EU] PS3

https://vgcollect.com/item/51472

This has German item number but all other info is from [UK] release.
I own copy of game with matching bar-code but item-number is BLES-00314
and online proof: https://www.play3.de/forum/spiele-allgemein/27678-bles-blus-bces-blas-codes.html

FIFA Football 2005 [EU] PS2
https://vgcollect.com/item/48156

My copy has bar code: 503093003856 and so does image of back-cover in mobygames:
http://www.mobygames.com/game/ps2/fifa-soccer-2005/cover-art/gameCoverId,263485/
so I suspect that this bar code is from some other release or we have case of two English releases with identical cover art , rating, text and item numbers but with different bar codes.

At some point I'm planning on going through the OXM demos and updating the images and stuff because I have a ton.

Item titles for just the Quarantine items were fixed (i asked Metshael to help on the French version because I couldn't read it in the picture) to reflect the naming policy. Front title goes on the item entry, Spine title, disc/cart title or other variations go into alt-name.

US item gets the word "dot" because it exists on the cover. The Japanese version does not have a word there, so it can start with the period. So now, the US version title matches what it actually says on the front cover, sans the Japanese text. Same with the Japanese entry.

And even so, it would seem that all the common names (perhaps fan-names) are all wrong anyways.... Look at the part 4, it is not Part 4 of Quarantine, it is Part 4 of .Hack.

The other games in the series were not changed because I didn't happen upon them in my rounds, only these as I was actually searching for "Quarantine" and these were in the results.

5030949038654 only traces to Finnish websites, so it is possible it was released with that EAN over there, or it was a placeholder or the EAN changed with release. It happens.

I submitted this and this to the database with an alt-name because I thought it was something it wasn't, I submitted a correction edit where I deleted the alt-name (they don't have alt-names) and it was rejected. Could the alt-names be removed?
Thanks.

(I thought it was a rerelease of the Japanese 'Collected Edition' but it isn't, the developers are releasing the Dreams edition as a separate thing. It also doesn't have a Japanese name (at least not yet), just the English one.)

Thanks for posting to the forum. Sometimes it is not known why a person would want to remove information from an entry, most of the time it is a new user doing things for whatever reason, so it is easier to just reject a change if we do not know why. And hope to see a post in the forum about it.  :P

I believe the "dot" on the logo was added simply for ease of pronunciation and not for the sake of altering the localized title of the series. It would create an inconsistency between regions, otherwise. English releases of other media in the series (anime, manga) do not have the "dot" in the logo. It is only something that Bandai/Bandai Namco does for the sake of pronunciation.
http://a.co/iZhrvjv
http://a.co/29cRQLz

As for the Japanese releases, the subtitles are still very much a part of the title, although they should come after the "Vol. #", according to the official site. http://www.hack.channel.or.jp/hack/new/vol_01.html Despite this, the Japanese subtitles are technically still part of the English titles, as they are present on the front covers, so they would also need to be romanized somewhere in there, as well. Because of this, this is why I think it is good to remain consistent with at least the naming used for the games as listed by Bandai Namco. You can see on the Last Recode site that they refer to it as .hack in written form, instead of Dot Hack. https://www.bandainamcoent.com/games/hack-gu-last-recode

If these subtitles are to be removed because of the site's naming guidelines, it should be done for all titles instead of just Vol. 4, even though it would not be consistent with the actual titles. The same should go for any non-Japanese release of any of the games that have the pronunciation "dot" in the logo.

Items in the database should be named as their title appears on the actual item.
Yes, this means that the other entries are wrong also but this game series is not alone in this. We do not get to choose how a publisher creates their packaging, and often (for one reason or another) a publisher will create a logo or design that isn't what the game's official (copyrighted) title actually is.

For the Japanese game, I take it that the subtitle is written in Japanese above the .Hack vol. 4?
If this is the case, then it can be put afterwards, as you say, as .hack Vol. 4: Zettai Houi.

And once again with wrong bar-codes:
Poker Masters [EU] PS2
https://vgcollect.com/item/39298
seems to have bar-code of French release http://www.digit-eyes.com/upcCode/5060015528017.html?l=en
English releases bar-code: 5060015527799

Continuation of wrong bar-code saga:
Mercenaries 2: World in Flames [EU] PS3
https://vgcollect.com/item/15674
has bar-code of [NL] release: http://www.rfgeneration.com/cgi-bin/getinfo.pl?ID=E-131-S-01232-A&
Bar-code of English release: 5030930059057

Disney Sing It: High School Musical 3: Senior Year [EU] PS3
https://vgcollect.com/item/67774
Bar-code/back cover mismatch.
Back cover is from Continental version -> bar-code should be: 9717418184810 https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps3/955097-disney-sing-it-high-school-musical-3-senior-year/images/1115336
Bar-code is from Scandinavian version -> matching back cover http://www.mobygames.com/game/ps3/disney-sing-it-high-school-musical-3-senior-year/cover-art/gameCoverId,489475/
Probably should be changed to Continental version as I noticed front cover of Scandinavian version has flags of included languages now that I look my copy closer.

Brink [EU] PS3
https://vgcollect.com/item/32769
Unfortunately not bar-code but questionable item-number. Item-number of English version seems to be: BLES-00817 http://www.mobygames.com/game/ps3/brink/cover-art/gameCoverId,255059/
Current item-number is probably from French release since google search of item-number gives thread of how to change language from French to English. http://www.nextgenupdate.com/forums/ps3-mods-cheats/404774-brink-english-instead-french.html

I tried to change the productcode to: TSA-WUP-AGMP-UKV , because TSA-WUP-AGMP-EUR doesn't exsist!!!!!

The current barcode that is associated with above version (045496334451) results in a UKV variety wherever you look on the internet:

Example: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/wii-u/805617-splatoon/images/1425815

So who's rejected my obvious correct entry?
