Halo: Reach (https://vgcollect.com/item/11376) is a franken-entry. The images are from a copy with the barcode 885370230659 while the barcode and the first item number on the entry come from the launch edition (denoted by the advert for the bonus helmet on the front and "Made in Mexico" on the back beneath the barcode). I'm assuming the second item number is the one for the version the images are of, though I can't be certain because there's another copy with no launch edition advert nor the X-Play quote.

Hello everyone :)

I proposed an edit to my listing, I listed this Spyro https://vgcollect.com/item/153440  but didn't realize until I uploaded it that I didn't spell Reignited correctly.  So I did the edit and it got rejected.  I really wish we were allowed to edit our own listings within a day or so since we made the listing.  It'd make it a lot easier.

But I hope someone can fix this :D.

Nintendo Wii Wheel has the wrong model code. Should be RVL-024. The current code listed is for the manual.

Wild C.A.T.S. should have an item number of SNS-AWIE-USA. I have the game in front of me, so I know that it's correct.

Cool World should have an item number of SNS-CD-USA. Same as above.

Batman Forever should have an item number of SNS-A3BE-USA. Same as above.

Flashback: The Quest for Identity should have an item number of SNS-5F-USA. Same as above.

Game Genie (NES) has some odd formatting issues in the description. I tried to correct but was rejected.

1. Nintendo Wii Wheel has the wrong model code. Should be RVL-024. The current code listed is for the manual.

2. Wild C.A.T.S. should have an item number of SNS-AWIE-USA. I have the game in front of me, so I know that it's correct.

3. Cool World should have an item number of SNS-CD-USA. Same as above.

4. Batman Forever should have an item number of SNS-A3BE-USA. Same as above.

5. Flashback: The Quest for Identity should have an item number of SNS-5F-USA. Same as above.

6. Game Genie (NES) has some odd formatting issues in the description. I tried to correct but was rejected.

1. Item number is correct. It appears on the bottom of the box to the right of the barcode.
2. SNS-AWIE-USA is the item number for the cart, not the one on the back of the box. Put the cart item number into the description field.
3. ibid
4. ibid
5. ibid
6. Description was empty. Box text was invalid and was removed.

Mea culpa. I was mislead by the dozens of listing that used the "item number for the cart" in the item number field. I was just following suit. I honestly believe there should be a dedicated field for the item's code (or model number for hardware) besides the description field. For a vast majority of older items having access to the packaging is a bit of a luxury.

On another note.
Quote from: VGCollect Style Guide
If a console has color variants or bundles, these should be listed like special edition games are. So each color variation/ bundle should be listed as a special release of a game would be. Unlike games, which use parenthesis for variants, each hardware release has it's own factory item number.

For the VMUs, the ones that were accepted were partially correct, as you fixed the color names... however, all four are wrong.
VMU are not consoles, they are accessories.

I have just fixed the blue entry to show how these should be formatted:
https://vgcollect.com/item/15727

Title: {Manufacturer} {Item name} (color) [TLD]*
Sega Visual Memory Unit (blue)

Alt-name: Dreamcast VMU blue**

*TLD if required
**color not required for alt-name

Hardware and accessories should have the manufacturer name first.
For the item name, if the item was released in its own packaging, it should use the words from the packaging. Since the US releases (at least) of the VMU do not say VMU, they should be called Visual Memory Unit as it says on the box.

You can use SegaRetro to help name Sega items.

First of all, I want to clearly state that I am not trying to argue. I just want to clarify the correct protocol.

Quote from: tripredacus
VMU are not consoles, they are accessories.

The OFFICIAL Style Guide states hardware protocols, but nothing for accessories. I have always thought of accessories as hardware. Instead of informing us here, why not add this information to the Style Guide? Seems pretty important. The main reason I keep coming back to this site is because it's one of the few sites that allows you to track consoles, accessories, and variants that you own.

Also you are saying that the console name should not be added to the item name? I do agree with this, but that does not seem to be the standard here. Every accessory category I look through has {Manufacturer} {Console} {Item name}. I understand how this can become very confusing because some accessories literally have the console name in the product name. Such as the NES Advantage which, I might add, does not have the Manufacturer listed in the name field. Also, as another example, the Sega Visual Memory Unit (blue) that you fixed does not use the console name even though on the side of the box (not pictured) it clearly states "Contains: Dreamcast visual memory unit". So do we omit the console name even if it's printed on the box and listed as containing the console name as part of the accessory's name? Other examples would be controllers, Nintendo GameCube Controller - Black [NA] (note here that the color uses the hardware protocol of using a dash) Should it be Nintendo Controller - (black) [NA]? It's already in the Gamecube category so does it need the redundant console listing in the name? Nintendo 64 Controller - Atomic Purple This one creates a new set of problems. Nintendo is the manufacturer but "64" is not the name of the console. So should it be Nintendo Controller (purple), or Nintendo Nintendo 64 Controller (purple)?

This brings up another question. In your fixed version, you go with a generic color description and not the color listed on the box; blue vs Clear Blue. I much prefer the manufacturer's given color name than a generic one.

I want to reiterate that I am not trying to ruffle any feathers here. I have made over 300 edits here, and I'm wondering if a lot of those have been incorrect. There are a lot of inconsistencies on this site, and I don't imagine that it will ever be cleaned up 100%. But we all do what we can.

Tripredacus, I want to personally thank you for all the time and effort you put into this site. You put up with so many of us "collectors" and "elite gamers" that you deserve some respect and thanks.

My two cents: I think we should stick with the hardware protocol of using a dash for accessory colors. Also if the product has a given color name, such as Clear Blue, use that. As far as console names inserted into item names, I think the logical choice would be to leave them out (Sega Visual Memory Unit - Clear Blue, Nintendo Controller - Atomic Purple) but I feel like that would adversely affect search results. Unless the search function can be improved then the console names make it far easier to find the item your looking for (Sega Dreamcast Visual Memory Unit - Clear Blue, Nintendo Nintendo 64 Controller - Atomic Purple). That Nintendo 64 one looks messy, but if you don't do it that way then you're leaving the manufacturer out and that creates confusion.

There are lots of improvements that could be used to make things better, but it's beyond my coding ability and I feel beyond the person responsible for this site's ability.

Yes the color should be as written on the packaging, not a generic or fan-name color.

Console is not required to be in the title unless it is clearly part of the product name, but not if the box is branded with it. As long as the item is in the relevant console accessory category, it isn't required. But, since the search field does not search category names yet, it is perfectly fine to put the console name into the alt-name field.

From your examples...
1. NES Advantage should be Nintendo NES Advantage.
2. The VMU just needs the correct color name put onto it. I never changed the color because I had not seen a view of the packaging with the color name printed, so it was left as is.
3. Nintendo Gamecube Controller - Black should be Nintendo Gamecube Controller (Jet), that is the name on the packaging and color. It clearly says Color: Jet, not Color: Black. But of course, Black should be put into the alt-name field.
4. Nintendo 64 Controller - Atomic Purple this one is tricky, At first glance I would say Nintendo Atomic Purple Color Controller but I think having the 64 added into there wouldn't be a big deal... what do you think?

The Style Guide for Hardware is a bit out of date, as I can tell you right now if someone made an entry for "Sony PlayStation 2" it would get nuked. I'll take a look into fixing that section up and put in a section for accessories. It won't be today, but count that color, if required in an item title, should be put as (color) instead of using the hyphen, unless the color is in the name specifically, such as in example #4 above.

Firstly probably a typo in barcode as google doesn't recognize it. Should probably be 5060057021408 as on my copy.
But if so item-number is wrong as it's from [UK] version as featured here: https://www.mobygames.com/game/ps2/grooverider-slot-car-thunder/cover-art
Right [EU] item-number should be SLES-52058. Once again as featured on my copy of game.

Hello
I have a game i have rarely seen. It is in the Database, BUT the Barcode was wrong.
I corrected it, and uploaded a scan of the front cover and the disk.
(The back is in terrible shape on my copy, but you can still read the barcode)
I also filled out as much info as i could.
It is this one:
