A Question About Importing Hardware and Games (edited)

Please correct me if I am wrong

I know barely anything when it comes to importing other than the fact that you most times when you buy and play a game from another region you might need the same region of the console as the game you're trying to pay. or some kind of different hardware.

So far as of this date I never bought a different region electronic. But I am curious to hear about if you also need a different region television for different region game consoles or alternative house electric plugs since I heard in PAL regions they have completely different outlet designs

As of today I don't own anything not in my own region but I am curious to hear your thought on this

You would need a different power outlet, America and the UK at least have completely different plugs.

As for TVs it depends, if you're playing on a modern TV it won't matter since they can output anything. If you're planning on playing on an older TV it might depend on the TV. I don't know if it's the same across the pond but in PAL regions on some PS2-era games you'd be given an option to play in either PAL or NTSC and some TVs would play NTSC fine while others could be black & white or glitchy or not show anything at all. Not sure if the same is true of the opposite.

Yeah, PAL and North American power is way different, both the actual outlet plug and the amount of voltage they use. There are various converters you can buy, just make sure it is a high quality one; I typically buy off Amazon to check reviews of what other people have experiences after buying them.

Importing Japanese consoles to NA is super easy given how similar our power standards are and no converters are required. I've imported several Japanese consoles and all have worked beautifully next to my NA consoles with no modifications or need for extra accessories.

What console do you want to import for? And what region are you in? NTSC or PAL?

Well for starters you would need a  transformer when your using pal systems since the voltage is different

Japanese and USA consoles have simular voltage so that would not be an issue.

Than again you also have freeloaders and freemcboat software for memory cards to make a console region free without the effort or a specialised console. Other consoles have certain carts to make them region free.

As far as tv's goes allot of even the older tv's fortunately support both sides or if you use different cables the output would be the same. If you have an incompatible tv your suikoden on ps1 would have a black and white image to name one example of what could happen.

As far as importing goes it is a pretty expensive hobby. It can be done cheap but the supply is limited and You'll have to be lucky that someone bought it in the past from a specialised store blockbuster wich did import even japanese games in a very limited supply allot of the better games If i might add. if your going out of your way to import them yourselves shipping and import costs can be quite allot.

Usually import stuff that is any good will fetch higher amounts in the country that is lacking them and since the supply is limited to non existant people will pay more. obviously this is the stuff where it's at what might make importing worthwhile.

If your doing it with japanese famicom super famicom than yes you will save some money.  sega however sold very bad in japan so allot of titles have a higher value than their western counter parts beware  :o

in the NTSC north american territory

I was only curious about this. currently am not doing imports. But I just wondered how people do play imports because I have heard about the different voltage requirement and different size outlets before. Plus I know a lot of collectors play games that were not released in their region
