Author Topic: September & October will be packed with New Releases - What are you picking up?  (Read 4136 times)

I've never actually played a Dragon Quest game lol I played a tiny bit of Dragon Quest Heroes before realizing I didn't like it as much as Hyrule Warriors, but that's about it.  I'm sorta interested in DQ11, but probably will wait for a sale on it.

Nothing.

I decided to put money each month toward retirement and purchases of shares instead of video games.

Seriously, why is this guy still here? How is not obvious he's a worthless troll, by now?

I already have Red Dead Redemption 2 pre-ordered.

And I will likely cave and get the Spyro Trilogy, as well.

Further down the line, my real excitement is for Resident Evil 2 Remake, though. Can't. Freaking. WAIT!

Warriors Orochi 4 and SoulCalibur VI are Day Ones for me. Dragon Quest and Disgaea will be gotten once they get a decent sale.

I've only got Spyro: Reignited Trilogy and Mega Man 11 preordered
"I collect vidya games and vidya game accessories, I tell you what."

September is going to leave my wallet on a nurtisystem diet for sure  ;D

So far I have already preordered Forza Horizon 4 ultimate edition.  it's my most excited for game. I am a massive fan of the Forza franchise and racing games in general.  And Horizon has really been an immortalized franchise that has been consistently epic for 2 console generations now.  I bought a One X for this game when it was announced at E3.  Of course for everything else it does too but the open world of the united kingdom (one of my favorite settings) along with the gorgeous selection of cars in 4k at 60fps in HDR?  It just sounds like heaven to explore with the dynamic seasons, the way the world changes for everyone playing at once,  how you can buy houses, and the little nuances that have been added to an already amazing formula. :).  I'm beyond stoked.

I am also excited for Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu,  mostly for the little poke ball plus peripheral, not so sure about the battle system being pokemon go style.  Throwing fruit at pokemon to catch them instead of beating them up seems much more realistic to catching animals in a healthy manner in real life,  it does make sense and the battles still remain for gym leaders from what I know but I'm still unsure if i'll enjoy the lack of difficulty.  I hope they give a difficulty spike to keep veteran pokemon fans on their toes.  Seems like a Pokemon for the casuals.  but still a day one must buy like any pokemon lol.   ;D

Those 2 are both 100 dollars each because i'm getting the bundle with the poke ball plus, hence why september will be an expensive month for me lol.

Those are about the only 2 i'm confirmed day one on.

Another game I will most likely buy on Launch is Shadow of the Tomb Raider.  I was on the fence but rise of the tomb raider was a masterpiece and i'm sure shadow will be amazing.  :)

Apologies lol, Not sure what convinced me Let's Go Pikachu was a september release. I guess I don't have much September to get aside from Forza and Maybe Tomb Raider :).

WTF are you people? Not one response so far mentioned D R A G O N  Q U E S T  X I ...... Seriously, nothing else on this list is going to touch DQ XI.

Heh, I knew people were gonna comment on Dragon Quest since it is a major release in the series. I have a friend who is extremely excited about it, she keeps talking about it non stop. It's refreshing to see someone extremely hyped up for a game these days.

I think the main reason why I'm not into it is because I'm not that familiar with the series. I only played Dragon Warrior VII on the PS1 ages ago.

I did watch some gameplay clips of XI, it does have its charm and reminds me of Ni No Kuni which I did enjoy (haven't played the 2nd one yet). It's definitely growing on me though after watching some videos, maybe I'll give it a go after clearing some of my backlog.

I really hope everyone takes the time to look at DQXI. This game is supposed to be the flagship Square Enix is using to bring this series into the mainstream here in the states.

NNK I and II are both great. You should take the time to play the second one before DQXI comes out. :)

If they want it to do well over here, they probably should release it on more than one system. Hell, there already was a Japanese 3DS release, so why didn't we get one?

I think the 3ds thing is 2 fold. For one the game released there a year ago. The Switch was barely out at that time and wasnt in nearly as many homes as the 3ds. Plus portable gaming is pretty big there as compared to here. And 2 now that the Switch has had another year + to gain traction, they are seeing the profit margin of doing a 3ds version as less of a likely candidate than the Switch. With the capabilities of the Switch vs the 3ds, the latter seems like the obvious choice and could possibly end up being a combination version of both the PS4 with the extra graphic option that was going to be on the 3DS.

This is all my personal speculation. But when its all said and done, DQXI will at least be on the PC/PS4/Switch. That should cover a pretty large base of gamers.

I thought it was just PS4, didn't know it was on Switch, too.

Doesn't matter for me, though, being an Xbox One/3DS owner.

The Switch version is way behind. It hasnt even released in Japan yet.

I just finished DQ9, just jumped into DQ7... so DQ11 is way off and down the road for me.  Maybe... just maybe I'll be at DQ8 when 11 comes out.

September has me for Spider-man (only because of the CE... which I might cancel), Shadow of the Tomb Raider (Looking forward to the conclusion to the trilogy), and Moonlighter.  Moonlighter being the only one that I'm not going to question.

October has me for Fist of the North Star (Essentially Fist of the North Star X Yakuza).  I'm interested in Forza Horizon 4, but I haven't even started 3 because I'm still on 2.  I'm not a huge Mega Man fan, I like them, I have them, but I'm more about X.  Super Mario Party interests my wife, and now I have 2 Switches, so maybe.  Assassin's Creed Odyssey I'll get down the line, but I'm still on Origins.  Disgaea 1 Complete interests me, but again, I'll wait.  I have Starlink preordered because StarFox, but I don't know how interested I really am.  Call of Cthulhu definitely interests me, but I don't know if it's a day one purchase either.

Dragon Quest XI and Spyro are all I have preordered, not really that excited for anything else this fall.  Hoping that once I go to PAX West this year a few more games will get on my radar.
