As we have told you before, fiscal responsibility and owning video games are not mutually exclusive things.

You don't understand video game collecting or the stock market do you?

You seem to have this fixation about the cost of video games, they're depreciation, and using them as investment tools. If this is truly why you are in the hobby, I can tell you you're definitely in the wrong. And unless you are pretty rich already, good luck making any real money in the stock market. We are fully into a Bull market, bordering a bear market, the DOW is over 25k, and many of your better performing stocks are very expensive.

Oh, I can tell you EXACTLY what would have happened if I bought stocks instead of games.

See, I have a tiny chunk of stock in US Bank. My grandpa bought it for me & my siblings when we were babies (he worked for them.) My brother and sister sold theirs as teens to pay off some financial issues, but I still have mine. Used to get checks once a quarter for $35. Then the housing market bottomed out. The next check I got was for $3.50. Even now, over 15 years later, It's only recovered up to $20ish a quarter.

So- I would have started off putting more money into my existing stock in US Bank, with the intent to diversify once the gains were high enough, only to lose 90% of my value in the space of a few weeks. I know my game collection has not gained in monetary value, but I sincerely doubt it's ever been down 90%. More importantly, the entertainment value has never decreased, which is why I keep the things around in the first place!

What if you spent your time and energy making friends and doing things you liked instead of trolling our forums?

Huh, you might actually be happy.

Actually, if you take into consideration how the prices for retro games have been raising in the last decade, in reality, I’m not sure if buying stocks would have been a much better investment

I’d probably be house poor and sit bored all day in fear of not being able to spend money on things I might enjoy.

Gotta find the right saving/spending ratio that works with your budget.

I don’t follow the stocks well enough to stray beyond mutual funds, but the ones I have do about 10% on average.
Many games I’ve sold over the years have made well over that average. It’s kinda like getting free games to me.
