Where is a good place to buy Dualshock 3 Controllers? (UK)
« on: November 26, 2018, 04:12:30 am »
Hi,

I recently got duped on eBay in buyng a couple of chinese Dualshock 3's for cheap - CECHZC2U.
They're Awful! The material feels cheap and I was playing The Darkness II last night and couldn't even complete a mini-game due to the lack of accuracy I havewith the janky analogue sticks.

So I am looking for a proper replacement. but looknig online these controllers still seem to got @£20+ Which seems absurd to me! I'm looking for a place which I can buy one for £10-15 at most but really struggling.

if anyone knows of any decent online outlets, do let me know :)

Damn, sucks you are so far away. :(

In America we have pawn shops, I'm so isolated that I don't know if UK has them too lol.  I feel stupid.   But if UK has pawn shops, they literally hand them away.  Maybe 3-5 bucks each.   Probably like 3 euros.

I'd try whatever place sells second hand used electronics in the UK.

Well that sucks. TBH if you're looking for a controller at sort of £10 lower than the average price then it's not going to be lying around in a chain store or specialist store - someone will have bought it and flipped it (or kept it). I would suggest trading something in at CEX to dent the £22 they're asking for a standard black Dual Shock 3, at least you'll have something functional (or a way of returning it).

Controllers in general are pretty sought after so much lower than prices that most people ask will be quite tough, the newer the controllers the harder it gets. Ps2 era controllers and downwards for the consoles that sold well are allot more easy to get for a cheaper price but that's because they are not that popular with the casual market wich is why newer controllers can be quite tough to get for a lower price.

last and current gen controllers will most likely not be just a couple of euro's in any pawnshop since those things sell well not to mention the people who trade them in know what they have, Ps2 era controllers and lower might be just a couple euro's but that's normal like i said with older controllers. while the ps4 and xbox one are the current gen consoles the xbox 360 and the ps3 are the poor mans console, plenty of people who do not have enough money to justify a current gen console wich is why last gen in pretty much all cases is still very popular.

Unless your willing to wait I'd suggest you just get them at some chain for the 20+ their going for since otherwise it can take a while.

If your going to use them allot and you don't have a replacement controller at this very moment i don't think 20+ pounds is that big of a deal since othwerwise you can't really use the console.

Yeah, controllers aren’t really something you want to cheap out on - if you can avoid it.  If it’s that important I’d recommend just biting the bullet and getting a nicer one.

BUT that doesn’t necessarily mean first party.  There are lots of great third party options out there now.  Just keep an eye on the reviews.

To answer the thread question I wouldn't know where to begin. Except Amazon.com in the UK

I would probably go with a used SONY brand Dualshock 3 controller on Amazon.com UK branch. Or check out a corded non wireless controller for your PlayStation 3? I'm assuming?

I bought my SONY brand wireless controllers at GameStop and as long as you keep the battery charged. It should do well. although I did had a used SONY ware out after a few mouths of use that came with my PlayStation 3 that I got off Amazon.com in the US

If you buy the SONY brand or any wireless brand PS3 controller, make sure that the battery charging USB cable comes with it.

ALSO REMEMBER TO HIT THE PIN HOLE RESET BUTTON ON BACK OF CONTROLLER  IF YOU GET IT USED
