Game Awards predictions?
« on: December 06, 2021, 07:57:35 pm »
In 3 days The Game Awards 2021 will air. I know not everyone is a fan of The Game Awards but one can't deny the show has had some big reveals over the years. For those planning to watch what do you think/hope we will see? or will this year's show be a disappointment?

I expect a Matrix UE5 demo.

As for actual games, I expect nothing of interest to me just like the last year of gaming announcements has been with the exception of maybe 3 games. If I'm lucky... one game will be announced that makes me raise an eyebrow of interest.

Well, Geoff Keighley said Activision isn't involved outside of their nominations so no Spyro 4, Wumpa League or return of Guitar Hero.

Hogwarts Legacy gameplay?

A new Sly Cooper game seems like a possibility so maybe a tease of that?

Ubisoft something? 3D Donkey Kong game?

These are less predictions and more so just things I'd like to see.

I think a Nintendo reveal is a guarantee, but of what, I'm not sure.   Definitely nothing on games already shown, as I don't think there'd be too much worth seeing there from that, like as much as I want Breath of the Wild 2, I don't need any more on it.  Rumored 3D Donkey Kong would be neat, any 3D platformer would be great like a Super Mario Odyssey 2...Something goofy out of left field that I'd love is Diddy Kong Racing 2, it's probably not remotely big enough for that here, but give me it, that's my wild, no basis, prediction for this lol

I'd like it if whatever NetherRealms Studios was working on would get announced here, I'm curious what it'll end up being as the rumors have danced around a couple different things and seeing that MK11 was announced at The Game Awards before 3 years ago, it makes sense to have it here again with a release for sometime before summer next year.

Part of me wants to also say Bloodborne...ANYTHING...PS5 upgrade, PC port, remake, remaster, sequel...That's kinda my go to prediction for any possible event now, because I need it lol I feel at this point that they'd probably wait to reveal anything on that for after Elden Ring so as to not take anything away from that game.

Some sort of bad doritos/Mountain Dew/shick ad reads from the Dorito Pope

Lots of awards that are just "oh this game won this award"

Probably a bad musical performance loosly based on a game (unless it's Mick Gordon playing)

Possibly something Sonic related either the sequel movie getting a trailer or more of a look at the next game

Boy, I don't remember the last time I had my hype raised so high and then dashed so immediately than I did with Star Wars Eclipse lol Sick looking Star Wars game, but done by Quantic Dream, David Cage's studio and I could not be less interested in what he does.  Maybe it'll actually have gameplay, I don't know, but I got no interest right now.

Right? Hopefully it's a good SW story at least.

Honestly, kind of a dull show for me personally.  A couple interesting games, but no surprises that were like "Holy cow!"

-Space Marine 2 looks like it'll be some fun.
-The Suicide Squad game looks fun, but it's also a 4 player co-op thing and I'm not sure how it'll be solo.
-Star Wars Eclipse, as far as being a pure CG trailer goes, seemed interesting, but I don't like what Quantic Dream and David Cage do.
-Sonic Frontiers could be neat as an open world game, but it's also a Sonic game, so expectations are real low for a good game.
-While I'm not a huge fan of Alan Wake, I did like it and Alan Wake 2 is being made to be a survival horror game, so I'm definitely interested now.

That's really it.  Nothing too exciting for me that got me amped.  Even the final reveal wasn't exciting, since it was just the Matrix tech demo that was announced a few days ago, which I'm gonna check out, but it's just a tech demo.

Really surprised that Nintendo had nothing to show off at all.  Not even for anything already announced.  Heck, they had Reggie there, even if he's not with Nintendo anymore lol

Amazing show!

My highlights:
Friday the 13th: The Game publisher is now doing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with a better developer, Sumo Digital.

Evil West looks amazing!

Slitterhead is interesting.

Sonic Frontiers is somewhat interesting but not as exciting as Kirby's new game.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Suicide Squad looks A LOT like Sunset Overdrive which I'm still waiting for on PS4..

Saints Row and Tiny Tina still look good.

Rumbleverse looks like the next Ninjala..

ARC Raiders looks awesome!

CrossfireX is finally launching!

Cuphead DLC trailer was excellent but not interested in the game. Musical performance was good too.

Thirsty Suitors skateboarding parts were interesting.

SYNCED: Off-Planet is somewhat interesting but it seems like the development has been rough. Might not be good.

Space Marine 2 could be good. A lot of Warhammer games look good at first though.

Sniper Elite 5's announcement was really weird. Reveal tomorrow.

So yeah definitely a lot that caught my interest! Lot of other big games too that I can appreciate but don't necessarily interest me.

Happy with It Takes Two winning GOTY and beating Nintendo in their own category.

Deathloop should have won less but critics are obsessed with it for whatever reason.

Kena winning was nice too.

I didn't watch because I had better things to do, but I was happy to hear that Tales of Arise won an award. It's a favorite series of mine so yay for that.

Suicide Squad look like pure, chaotic fun.

And while I'm not s Star Wars fan, I have admit those graphics looked impressive as hell and the story looked epic.

I'm also looking forward to Warhammer Space Marine 2, as I really enjoyed the first one.

Glad that It Takes Two won- truly a fantastic game. I would have been really bummed if Deathloop won- game did not deserve all the accolades it got. It wasn't bad but way too flawed to be GOTY. Was glad Returnal won best action game, I think it deserved to be nominated for GOTY, it's definitely my GOTY.

Show was fine, if I had been actively watching and not doing anything else I would have been bored. But perfect background noise while working.
