RedOctane originally published the first two Guitar Hero games and manufactured the instrument controllers before being shutdown by Activision in 2010. This new version of RedOctane, backed by Embracer, is lead by the former studio head of Vicarious Visions who worked on the Wii ports of the Guitar Hero games. The original RedOctane founders are involved in an advisory role as they currently run CRKD which is a company also making guitar controllers for games like Fortnite Festival and Clone Hero.

Stage Tour is set to launch on consoles and PC this fall with support for guitar, drum and vocal gameplay.

Fortnite Festival is one of my most played games so I don't know if I necessarily need to check this out but I hope it's successful so Epic will commit further to Fortnite Festival! If you aren't aware, Fortnite includes Fortnite Festival which is made by Harmonix (original developers of both Guitar Hero and Rock Band) and it can be played with controller or most third-party instruments being made today. The game receives new songs every Thursday and are free to play at release. The game features a large, free rotation of songs and when playing with "Fill" on you can play songs owned by randoms. I play a lot and never felt it necessary to buy a song so it's completely free. I recommend trying it out if you're missing Guitar Hero!

I'm pretty on board with this, I think the Fortnite mode is just okay, it's technically decent enough if you just want SOMETHING rhythm game oriented, I found it a little middling and the guitar they made for it seemed pricey.  Other than that, I don't think I've played a new rhythm game since Guitar Hero Live, which sucked.  I still technically have my 360 I bring out every so often to play Warriors of Rock that has all the combined content of the other games and what I downloaded, but it'll be nice to instead just play something more conveniently on my PS5.
