Barcode search not matching, also -'s

Hello! I started to add my collection to vgcollect.
Most impressive database! Thank you for the service.

Two things:
First, I decided to try to use a barcode scanner to speed up entry. It worked for some PS1 US titles. But it is failing on .jp PS1 titles. When I try to add one, say "Beyond the Beyond" on PS1, JP it says not found. I can see your database has the exact barcode, and I can scan it "4948872100144" with my scanner. But the search results (even copy/paste) return a not found. Any idea?

Second, would it be possible to get the ability to search for things with -'s in them? If I search for the Gameboy game Tetris by DMG-TRA it will just return everything with DMG in it I believe? I assume the - is being removed? This would speed up the data entry task quite a bit.

Currently, the Search tool is only able to search the database by entry name when only one field is submitted. Additional information can be supplied to other fields, but the Item Name field must have information supplied for it to load results. For instance, Beyond the Beyond can be found by barcode, but only when information for both Item Name and Barcode fields is entered. So as it's designed now, it's not especially helpful for logging one's collection. With that said, this issue has already been logged on an internal dev task list and is awaiting to be corrected.

The same issue also affects other fields, including Item Number. The results that appear when searching for something like DMG are entries that have that information directly supplied to the Item Name field so that variant releases can be distinguished from another. For instance, here are Card Game (DMG-CGA) and Card Game (DMG-CGA-1).

I can't comment on the quality or functionality of the barcode scanner from the VGCollect mobile app, but I believe it's been found to be unreliable in the past as well.

So, unfortunately, entries wanting to be added to a user's account must be logged manually. For anyone with particularly large collections, such work may be accomplished more quickly by going through the entire category all at once, as seen here with PlayStation JP that is accessible from the Browse page. Multiple items can be logged simultaneously by using the check box feature this way, but it's worth noting that details (i.e. Notes, Purchased, Cost, Other Details) can't be added using this method.
