NSFW covers

Before anything else - consider all links posted here to be NSFW.

I don't think I saw anything about this in official style guide, I couldn't find any other posts regarding this, so I'm going to ask here: what is current policy on NSFW covers?

I'm talking about items like https://vgcollect.com/item/166470 (cover can be seen here: https://vndb.org/v21676), https://vgcollect.com/item/159740 (cover: http://www.mangagamer.com/r18/detail.php?goods_type=3&product_code=216), https://vgcollect.com/item/159057 (cover: https://www.jlist.com/category/games-computers/visual-novels/jast007).
I've seen that for some items people uploaded "censored" covers, for example https://vgcollect.com/item/115787 has some censoring (original cover can be seen here: http://www.mangagamer.com/r18/detail.php?goods_type=3&product_code=217), however I personally don't feel that this would be right approach.

So my question: is there any official approach as to how such covers should be handled (don't upload at all / upload censored / upload uncensored)?
And if it's the first one (don't upload at all) then are there any plans to add support for NSFW cover images (like for example the simplest solution would be probably to add checkbox for NSFW items and add CSS blur and click listener to remove said blur on click).

Im personally in favor of allowing censored ones (Black strip over private parts).   Or just simply allowing them.  I'm not sure what legality that poses for admins though but I never see children on here since Seether left lol.    Maybe a reveal button?

Love3 artwork is ok
Eroge! artwork is not allowed
Starless artwork is ok
Demon Master Chris artwork is not allowed (front image removed)

No "visible" nudity is allowed in DB images... which is an old ruling by site owners. I do not believe that is up for debate (and does not qualify for a style guide poll vote). Censored images should not be present either. So we just do not use the picture.

When figuring out whether the art is allowed or not. Basically, are the "naughty bits" visible?

Examples
Nudity but no "naughty bits" visible
https://vgcollect.com/item/161966

Nudity but resolution so low you can't tell
https://vgcollect.com/item/69203

I'm not certain that the Virtua Cameraman 2 back art has nudity in it, but it gives the example where a topless photo of a girl exists on a cover. When it is normal size you can tell, but when it is 20 pixels wide, its all a blur. Nudity of this type is allowed, because the image is not edited and you wouldn't be able to tell what it is without seeing a full resolution image (which we do not provide) or have the item itself in hand.

PS: I'm sure that a really low quality photo of the actual item could be used. Many items have those kinds of pictures now... that would be one way around it I suppose.  8)

Okay then - so basically questionable images are permitted, explicit images are forbidden.

So a followup question (was mentioned in my main post): are there any plans to eventually add support for NSFW items (perhaps not visible unless explicitely configured in account options, or by default images not visible, with a reveal button)? Basically I'm not asking here about style guide but about possible future implementation of functionality that would allow us to have NSFW items.

Make a feature request post in Site Feedback. Such a thing is up to the site developers.

I could envision such a process where any artwork that is explicit would use a different "No art" type image for guests and regular users, but show the actual art to Pro Users and staff, if they choose to display those types of images. That is a general process and is not indicative that the site owners would allow those types of images.
