If you're able to easily get to a refurb guy/do the work yourself, I'd take it in regardless. The capacitator is question is supposed to be extremely easy to take out, and you could get the unit looked over for other damage too. It's probably worth it, especially considering how little said capacitor actually does (it keeps your clock data so if you unplug the system/have a power outage, you don't need to reset the time. Hardly a big issue.)
