MJR Collection tracking in 2020 video
« on: March 20, 2020, 12:12:00 pm »
Metal Jesus Rocks just uploaded a new "tracking your collection" video. I've used completionator and Backloggery in the past but always felt this site was the most complete and intuitive. Doesn't have some of the bells and whistles, but is consistent, and of course has the best community!

Anyway, MJR didn't mention VGCollect, but he definitely should have!

There are a lot of people out there who have some issue with this site to the level that it feels like they believe this site had sex with their mother.

The Game and Collect subreddit/discord comes to mind.

I've tried every single collecting app out there, and nothing compares to the freedom and ease of use that VGCollect offers. If only we could bring back the ultra fast text only app from the olden days, I'd be in heaven  :D

It's a shame VGCollect wasn't mentioned in this new video.

He does have another video from 2014 just like this new one where he did feature VGCollect. His problem with the site was the search but otherwise liked it.

I'm part of the Game and Collect discord and I've never seen that personally  :o Care to elaborate?

I mean it does make sense, this site is especially handy when you don't use a mobile phone pc, and the examples he gives all use mobile.

he's mainly talking about mobile apps

this site also has a mobile feature, haven't used it but that could be a reason.

PC is on the downtrend mobile if the new way to catalog stuff for a ton of people.

still though imo most mobile apps are pretty shitty to use to catalog stuff.

This site has every feature I need so I don't see why he didn't mention it, again

any time collection tracking comes up, when people mention VGC, some folks will complain a lot and the staff actively suppress mentions of vgcollect.  Specifically the admins.

Sounds pretty fishy why would they do that?

One time I asked one of my gaming relatives if he heard of VGCollect and he immediate thought I was talking about "Virtual Girl" (which I heard was some kind of porn thing? I can't remember what he said. Something about a women dancing on your desktop on your computer or something? I googled it but I still don't know everything about it, I'm not interested but I am curious a little :-\

but we all should look it up

other people who don't know anything about what VGCollect is might be thinking the same thing. other than that I believe what @ignition365 and @Telly Said completely :-\

I'm not really on the Game and Collect discord that much, and I don't use reddit, so I've probably just been missing it.

I've tried every single collecting app out there, and nothing compares to the freedom and ease of use that VGCollect offers. If only we could bring back the ultra fast text only app from the olden days, I'd be in heaven  :D

Basically this- I actually downloaded the Gameye app out of curiosity, & searched for the 3 things that have given me the most grief on various collection sites: the Channel F collection, my Pinky Street games, and Puzzle Bobble on the Game Gear. Only the Channel F stuff came up, so better than some but still not complete. I do not particularly feel like re-listing my entire collection, & signing up for that other collection site to update their database, for the slight convenience of not accessing the internet & loading this site if I'm out at a game store- especially if I'll need to do it all over again if I get a new phone.
