Picked up a high level wishlist item today - Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.  Ended up not paying anything for it with all the store credit I had.  I saw Order of Ecclesia at a different shop before I went to the one I had credit with.  They had it at a great price, so I might pick it up tomorrow.

Went back and bough Order of Ecclesia.  Early b-day present for me.

It's been a LONG time since I scored at a garage sale, as in nearly a decade. Given, I don't do garage sales very often anymore, but this one was a little different and I decided to take a chance on it which paid off big time!


One of the local Facebook video game collector groups I belong to has its own marketplace and people typically post things they're selling or are looking for. However, on rare occasions someone will either post their entire collection or a garage sale they're having to get rid of a bunch of their stuff. The situation today was the latter where a local collector is in the process of moving and decided to substantially downsize their collection via a garage sale. I saw the listing about half an hour after it went up this morning and immediately saw one thing I've wanted for a long, long time; a PC Engine Core Graphix console. After confirming it wasn't the mini that is just loaded with roms, I decided to head out and see if it was still available.


To my relief it was still available when I arrived. The guy who was doing the sale was pretty much just wanting to get rid of as much as possible, caring little for prices and whatnot. Still, I wanted to be fair so I offered him $100 for the PC Engine and all the games. With no counter offer, the seller just said "SOLD" and that was that. However, he had a bunch of other games he was selling, most for NES and SNES. Unfortunately I had most of these games or wasn't interested for one reason or another. I probably could have bought a lot of them for real cheap and used them as tradebait or whatever, but I didn't really want to deal with it. However, as I was leaving the sale I spotted something out of the corner of my eye that I had to ask about.


There was a NEO GEO AES just sitting on a bench in the seller's front yard. Out of curiosity I asked how much he wanted for it, but before he said what he wanted he also pointed out that he had the controller, three games (one CIB), and a high quality SCART cable. He then said he'd do it all for $200. Knowing how much a working AES and the games go for I didn't even try and counter him. So for $300 I ended up grabbing two very hard to find consoles and a decent amount of games for them for less than the price of a AES by itself on ebay. This was definitely one of the best garage sale finds I've ever had, and even one of the best scores Ive had in general for a while.

Picked up Pac-Man World Re-Pac on Friday. Definitely dated gameplay, but still fun. I already beat it. But going back to get a few collectibles in the gane to 100% it.

Found another SNES game I was missing at my local used game store.

Last a get a phone call from someone I left my number at a garage sale. I was shocked someone called back, They tell me they where selling their video game
Collection and was I interested in buying it. Talking to the guys wife I figured this guy wanted Collector prices. I tell them ya I'd love to see what you have.
I get there and see boxes full of games, I look through all the boxes and consoles and see one that had a lot of good stuff in it. I ask what he wanted for all of it and he says $1000. While a great price for all he had I just didn't have that much to spend right now. I asked what he'd take for one box witch was mostly SNES games. He said $200 and I had just over $200 on me and paid him. Most of the other boxes where newer games, but there was full of more NES games but the one that was the rarest was in my box, I had no idea what all the SNES games where till I got home and boy I was surprised at a few of the games that where in here.
