I mean Metroidvanias ARE a unique kinda Platformer, after all!

Because it's a platformer. That category already exists.

This recent topic discussing why other Genre selections aren't being added at this time will be beneficial to read.

With that said, many would argue that metroidvania is not a genre. It is an incredibly niche style of action-adventure platformers that has only gained popularity in recent years. Either of those two choices are well-suited for the Genre field.

Anyway, Metroidvania is more of a sub-genre, but I've never cared much about this discussion if I'm being honest. Whatever it is, is. I love this style of games, though.
