Mostly it's the same reason there hasn't been much interest in XBOX emulation: their backwards compatibility program. You can take almost any physical XBOX game from a previous generation, pop it into a current-gen XBOX, download an emulator-compatible rom, and play the game on the current-gen XBOX.

unless we are talking piracy this system was hot garbage on xbox.

og xbox only has like 50ish that work on current or last gen with this method. and that list doesn't even include all the good stuff.

it's pathetic

allot better for 360 but than again well over 50% of it's library once again does not work this way

this ain't ps1 on ps2 cube on wii wii u, gb classic color on advance ds on 3ds tier kinda compatibility it's one of the worst we ever got and it's basicly just a code to a rom anyway, even while cheating it sucks actual ass.

Interesting. Either they lost compatibility when they moved from the 360 to the One, or I'm having some sort of weird mandela effect. I remember checking the list of backwards-compatible XBOX games during the end of the 360 era, and there were a lot more than 40 games on the list back then. But I just checked again, and it's only 40 now. Weird.
Games Needed to Complete Collection:
PS5: 26 | PS4: 26 | XBOX One: 10| Switch: 9

For me the biggest issue with the Xbox 360 is noise. I have a 360 S and as PS3 Slim and the 360 is a vacuum cleaner. It runs multiplatform titles better, RRoD is a non-issue for later models, I like the controller more, but it's just not pleasant to be around. Maybe the 360E fixed that. Also, the Xbox dashboard is slooooow compared to the PS3. I preferred the old dashboard from back when the console was released. Some of the features that got added are nice, like being able to install games from disc to the hard drive, but the performance is just poor.

I remember something close to 400 Xbox classic games to be able to run on the 360. Did that change? The only one I tried was Halo 2 and it works.

Yes, but many of them don't run well on 360.

beyond ps2 era it seems only nintendo had good backwards compatibility. everyone else had allot of restrictions. Don't know how great ps3 is in terms of playing ps2 games but it's locked behind only a certain fat model anyway.

The PS2 to PS3 backwards is mostly great. The fact they limited it to the 80GB model priced out so many people back then. Which is a shame. I think the big difference is Sony's emotion chip from PS2 is soldered directly into the board. The combo is surprisingly good for running on PS3.  Xbox uses some sort of dodgy emulation. The same kind that PS4 uses for its "classics" catelog.  And it runs like shit at best in my experiences.   I remember when an achievement would pop up on viva piniata. It'd look like a old vignette how slow the fps was lol.

Nintendo with the Switch 2 again isnt using emulation. Instead of running a full software emulator, the console uses a native compatibility system to interpret the older code. Some hardware voodoo stuff.  But either way. Xbox never got backwards compatability correct.   Which is wierd because I do agree it touted itself on it.  I never felt I had the "i can sell my 360 because I have an Xbox one" experience.  So many 3rd party games got no support at all.

So perhaps that answers some of the original question as well.

If you own a PS3 you own a ps1.  That's pretty cool imo.  But id expect Xbox one playing 360 games poorly would drive more people to drive up OG 360 hardware.  Its all interesting for sure.

This is the biggest bummer regarding Sony phasing out discs, to me in general.  A PS6 with no disc drive means that it can't play my PS4 or PS5 games, so there's even less of a reason for me to want one.
