About the towers?  I had no idea.  That's pretty interesting... so it logs how many games/amount of time you've played?  Or is this based on the memory cards?

I remember hearing of those, yeah. I THINK it has to do with save files on the memory cards, but I'm not completely sure.

I had no idea about this, but it reminds me of the Easter egg in the Gamecube startup by pressing down Z on one controller. Then there's another one for pressing down Z on all four controllers, and I didn't know about that one for YEARS.
