At risk of being flamed: BioShock is overrated.
I've gotten to the part where I'm learning about the twisted plastic-surgeon, and I'm bored. I'm struggling to want to continue any further. It does have some cool scenery, and it does have a cool premise. But the gameplay is just so empty and boring, IMO.
Should I stick with it? Is there better to come? Or should I already be loving it by this point, if I'm gonna like it?
Not every game is for everyone - if you're not liking it at that point, probably best to move on.
That said, I adore Bioshock (and 2, and Infinite...) and would say it's easily one of the top 5 games of last gen. Far from overrated IMO, it popularized a game style (that I personally call "first person adventure") that has been copied many times since, but never quite as good. The attention to detail & setting in that game is incredible, and it was the definition of an "immersive game" for me.
