I was born with red hair, which changed to blonde, which changed to redish blonde and now its turning brownish. And my beard is full on firey red.

The red hair and freckle look (aka the ginger) never bothered me, but I don't find it attractive. I don't recall anyone ever getting picked on for it, though.

Until I saw it on South Park, I never heard of redheads being referred to as "gingers" or the whole "soulless ginger" garbage. 

Ironically, I did always hear "red on the head, wild in the bed" but I have no experience in such matters.
