They have vending machines where you can buy used panties.

Haha yeah there are some, but they are illegal. Yes, there is a law specifically for that  ::) I didn't mean to say that they aren't weird at all, because they definitely have their quirky things. Very much so. I just think it's a bit sad when people think that they're just a bunch of crazy people, just because all they've seen from Japan was the craziest, most extreme of the weird that can come from them.

It's pretty easy nowadays, with the internet and whatnot, to forget what the majority really is like. We are bombarded all the time by things, and if people want to catch our attention they go for the extreme, since the mundane is just "meh" to our attention. Not that it's good or bad, it's just the truth we live in right now!

...okay, I'm removing the serious hat and going back to play with toy ponies now.  :P

LOL...like I said, I have a lot of respect for the Japanese people and how orderly their society is - especially when bad $hit goes down they all come together.

But when there is something weird...I mean really, really, really weird...it usually comes from Japan.

I once saw a homeless looking man with wild hair at a desolate intersection along the countryside, standing on one foot, balancing a cinder-block on his head, and signaling the "shush" sound with hit finger to his lips. This was in the US of A.

I've also witnessed a man wrapped in mummy rags wearing a "Saw" mask, trying to hitchhike along side the road on an Easter night.

That stuff is pretty common.  Hell, I dressed like Darth Vader and drove my kids around town to embarrass the shit out of them for being smartasses.  I've seen people dressed like Elvis walking down the road in the middle of nowhere.  People do funny stuff like that.

But I can't tell you a single instance of seeing a machine in a sperm donor facility that auto-jacks your wang to collect a sample and I sure as hell have never seen a used panty dispenser.  And as weird as porn is, the only time I have seen a man dressed as a demon with tentacle dongs attacking a woman dressed like a school girl was a video from Japan.

My oldest daughter is 14, so she is at that age where A)  She knows it all, B)  She has teenage hormonal attitude and C)  She thinks her parents are stupid and embarrassing.

Whenever you pick the kids up from their school, a teacher is outside with a radio, you tell them who you are there to pick up and they radio inside to send the child out.  I told my daughter that next time I have to pick her up after she was throwing 'tude around, I was going to activate my Darth Vader mask's voice modulator, stick my lightsaber out the window and turn it on and say "I am Allya's father."

Think that will embarrass her?   ;D

Haha, if anything, the one thing that I noticed most when I visited Japan was that everything was just so damn *clean*. Everyone is also pretty conscientious of everyone else, too.

That, and there are like *no* public garbage cans. People pretty much pack out whatever garbage they create and throw it away when they get home.

A decent number of vending machines, with both hold and cold drinks, including canned whiskey.

I miss it - can't wait to visit again soon.

Sounds great.  I was freaked out when we went to Florida last summer.  The garbage cans are electronic and talk to you.  Around here in 'ole Missour-a, we have them there plain trash cans.  And big wads of tobaccee that hillbillies pull out of their mouth and fling on the wall along the Mac Donald's drive-thru.  Lookit them there pussies drivin around in their Jap Pan cars.  Round these parts, we're Chevy men.  Like a rock.

Double post because.... WTF?

please tell me you are joking? electric trash cans are the most unnecessary thing ever. the only application that makes any sense for that kind of technology would be a mechanical system that creates just enough power from a dumpster lid shutting to ping how full it is to the trash collectors to make them more efficient. keep in mind though Its just dumpsters that need it

Disney World has the trash can of tomorrow.  It is motorized and drives around the park, when you feed it trash it goes "Om nom nom nom"

Joking about them talking to you? That's new to me. I have never heard of trash cans talking to you after receiving the appropriate litter. They'll do other fancy things though. The ones in the ATL airport are especially fun.
