clear plastic protectors for games
« on: May 05, 2013, 10:48:47 am »
Anyone know how to make, or where the Ebay sellers get the clear plastic protectors for games from???  I'm tired of spending a lot of money ordering them, when maybe I can make them, or learn how they get them for cheap...Thanks for any knowledge you may have on this.

The people I know who use the cover project use cases from media shelving

http://www.mediashelving.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=W&Product_Code=USCG

It's $60 for 100 cases. There are other places as well. Just search for universal game case.

Oh, and I realized that you might be talking about the clear covers for the cardboard boxes. I know a CIB SNES collector who orders them from sentinel64. He seems to really like them.

If you're talking about plastics boxes for the CIB NES, SNES, GB, GBA games and others. I've mentioned this before in a few other threads:

I don't know about protecting loose carts, but for CIBs I know a few of us have gone with  http://www.videogameboxprotectors.com/ for plastic cases for protecting retail boxes. I have my entire Castlevania collection boxed in them and they fit well and look nice.

Yes.

No, everything I say tends to be regurgitations from someone else. I follow a lot of collectors on youtube. I highly recommend ninjabearhug, snestastic, riddleronyoutube, adamkoralik, stevebenway, happyconsolegamer, gamester81. Pretty much everything I know comes from them.

I find fullset collectors like NinjaBearHug and Adam Koralik provide a wealth of information. They dig in deep to one specific area. In a way this makes them knowledgable all around. It's like the difference between a BA and a PhD. The BA is about breadth. But the PhD is all about depth. Those two are like PhDs of collecting. I'd say 75% of what I know comes from those two specifically.

Cool.  Thanks for the info.  I have checked out gamester81 and this guy under the youtube name dinkydana but I'll have to try the others.  I enjoy their flea market and thrift store searches; however, I dont think they get all that stuff from thrift stores.  I seen one collector who had every n64 game boxed, and said he got all of his n64 games boxed from goodwills and thrift stores with the exception of 2 games!  I just find that very hard to believe.  I have never found a boxed 64 game at any thrift shop.

DinkyDana is really good as well.

If you like flea market finds, check out Pat The Nes Punk. He has a series called Flea Market Madness. It is really good. ALso, there is a channel called Captain8bit. They make a show called game chasers. It's really good as well.

I agree that finding all the N64 games boxed in thrift stores is hard to believe. One thing in favor of it is that the N64 is not a huge library. It's been out for almost 20 years. If the user has been at it seriously for 20 years and lives in a bigger city, maybe. But very doubtful. It wouldn't even make much sense to just limit oneself to thrift stores. Ebay can honestly give good deals on some games. Madden Football 64 recently sold for 99 cents CIB on ebay. Why waste gas getting to the thrift store for that one?
