I'm a little pissed. They took my GPS and broke the window. Gonna cost me $400+ to replace everything :(

Oh man, that sucks. I had a cousin get robbed like that too, stole his ipod, gps and a bunch of other things. If I were you'd I'd be removing the new GPS unit nightly. :\

scott November 6
Also.

+1 for the stick shift!

madmax November 6
I was over at a friends. my car was there from 1pm to 6pm. Hardly nightly. it was even hidden in my glovebox. The circumstances didn't really add up to this happening :/

ohh well. shit happens.

Stick shift is the only way ;)

Ya buddy, my Cobalt is manual all the way. :D

desocietas November 7
That's crazy! If it was just your GPS, which was hidden, it doesn't make sense why they'd smash and grab in the middle of the day... So sorry, man. Senseless kids, sometimes... just trying to earn initiation points maybe.

My buddy was parked close by. They smashed his window and got his $500 Oakleys out of his center console. Those were also hidden.

andrew November 7
I'm sorry... Is it a rough neighborhood?

Not to take away from the severity of the situation, but what pair of Oakleys are $500? I had a pair of Romeos when they were made and they were like $250 and I thought that was outrageous for a pair of Oakleys. I got them as a gift...

madmax November 7
@andrew no really, its a pretty residential area...

brettybluevein November 7
Wow!! I'll refrain from commenting because I'm sure people see my video game spending as wasteful but....wow.

scott November 7
@brettybluevein I had a pair of Oakleys once, loved them. I found my pair, someone lost them while they were on vacation. I had them for years until I had them on top of my head and they fell off and shattered on my kitchen floor. I've always wanted another pair, but I've always been hesitant because of pricing and potential accidents. ha

@madmax residential area and this happens!? And you wanted me to go to Whistler? psshhhh. ;)

madmax November 7
lol, Whistler's nice. I doubt there's any crime up there. yeah, my buddy and I don't understand how they got away with it...

edit. hopefully I get ffxi in the mail soon. make me feel better

varkias November 7
Poor Mazda 3 :( Sorry man that sucks. I got my old 2000 GSR Integra broken into 3 times before I sold it.

tpugmire November 7
    How much is your deductible?

madmax November 7
I'm not sure but it's probably around $200 or something. Not worth it.

psydswipe November 8
That's awful :( Fortunately I never had my car broken into, though my friend did have his car taken when we were in college. Police found it later in a parking lot, minus the tires. They didn't take my geology book (must not have known how overpriced college textbooks are) but they drank my friend's soda and left the empty can behind, jerks :)

When my parents' house was broken into a long while ago, there were all sorts of empty soda cans left behind by the burglars (that were taken from our fridge). Definitely a kick-me-while-I'm down move.

Ha, you'd think so, but the cops didn't care... Definitely not like CSI. :\

I had my house broken into about 2 years ago and they took my teal ds, my green sp, my Gameboy Micro and all my xbox 360 games, ds games and all my zelda games for the game cube. they took other things also that I don't recall. I later found out that it was my girl friends kids friends, her kid had shown them my game room and when I was at work they broke into my house and took eveything. The officer that took the report called another officer and told him that he needed to check out the game room. they were going through the NES games and recalling memories it was funny. they caught one of the kids but I only got back my GameBoy Micro and since it was his first time in trouble I got no restitution. the kid said he had pawned everything and sold my xbox 360 for $30 to a friend. it's taken some time but I've managed to get most things repurchased. I just havent gotten all my professor layton games and all my Phoenix wright games back. Love those games.

Ugh, that sucks... The repurchasing is what pains me the most. I didn't realize how much I would miss the games that were taken when my game room was burglarized, nor did I have any idea how much it'd cost to carefully replace things. And the replacements aren't necessarily the same... Tainted a little because you no longer get the pleasant feeling of "I've owned this for ___ years and have kept it in ___ condition all this time" in addition to all of the memories of playing that game for hours on end. At least the Layton and Phoenix Wright games are still available! Although the way Specter is going, I'm worried that's headed towards OOP...

atariboy November 8
The hardest thing is to replace the items that are hard to find such as the Teal Nintendogs edition DS the ones I see on ebay are all beat up or scratched screens and min was in mint condition. Or the Green Gameboy Advance SP from Target exclusively, I dont even see those. I know the games can be replaced but replacing the limited edition Items is what hurts the most.

I know, right?  I thought about that briefly when finding it cached, but then thought, "This is the internet.  Nothing can be erased!"

:o you got me!

I wish I could forget about this one. I haven't been on eBay since it happened and I've turned down decent deals too.
