Hardware vs Peripherals?
« on: February 23, 2011, 01:01:03 pm »
I've been going back and forth on this one for awhile now. But What do you guys think about listing things like Guitar controllers, Game Genies, Light Boys, etc as Hardware. Or would you rather have them listed as Peripherals instead? Personally, I think of hardware, I think of consoles and actual systems. But maybe that's just me.

I'm going back and forth on this as well. I think we should brake it up into 2 categories, one for Consoles and one for Peripherals. Thoughts?

I agree. Though the break off point is kinda hard to figure out. I'm thinking anything that plays a game. Such as the 32x, Game Boy Player/Super Game Boy, Famicom Disk System, TG16-CD. Should all be hardware.

The Peripherals/Accessory list would be something like... Light Boy, Cleaning Kits, Memory Cards, The N64 Memory Expansion, etc. Would be on that list.

I can agree with this.

But what about the Sega and Sony's VMU's?

But what about the Sega and Sony's VMU's?

Um.... I'd have to go with Accessory. I've always looked at them as a memory card with bling, haha.

An "Accessory" category has been added.

I changed Super Game Boy from the SNES category to the Hardware category. Anything else that needs to be re-worked?

Would Game Genie's be considered an accessory?  I noticed that someone submitted it as a game, but I don't think it fits there personally.
