Light-Gun Shooters
« on: December 25, 2014, 12:44:39 am »
So I've been on a light-gun shooters kick lately. What do you guys think of them? They're always a blast!

Started this thread to see what else is out there, because you guys always seem to point out something I haven't heard of before. I have a bit of them already though.

I already have:
-Area 51 (PS1)
-Duck Hunt (NES)
-House of the Dead 2 (Dreamcast)
-House of the Dead: Overkill (Wii)
-Lethal Enforcers (Genesis)
-The Punisher (NES)
-The Punisher: Ultimate Payback (Game Boy)
-Resident Evil: Dead Aim (PS2)
-Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)
-Sin & Punishment: Star Successor (Wii)
-T2: The Arcade Game (SNES)
-Time Crisis (PS1)
-Time Crisis II (PS2)
-Virtua Cop (Saturn)
-Virtua Cop 2 (Saturn)

And already on my wishlist:
-House of the Dead (Saturn)
-House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return (Wii)
-Lethal Enforcers II: Gun Fighters (Genesis)
-Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (Wii)
-Time Crisis 3 & 4 and other spin-offs
-Wild Gunman (NES)

(I know some of these don't technically use a light-gun, but still, what else would you call Punisher and T2 Arcade?)

So give me what you got. I want to hear about some cool new light-gun games to add to my wishlist. And just to give a heads-up, I'm not into the cute-em up-like light-gun shooters.

They are excellent ports at that.

Get Lethal Enforcers 1 & 2 for PS One. Both games are on one disk.

The Genesis versions are good but the PS One versions are arcade perfect ports. :)

Just played through them yesterday.

Also, if you are a Lethal Enforcers fan you have to check out:

Freedom Force (NES)

Sunsoft made it back when they could do no wrong. Play through a few stages and you'll see that it has to be where the inspiration for Lethal Enforcers came from.

House of the Dead 3 for the original Xbox is great and when you beat it an arcade perfect port of House of the Dead 2 is unlocked.

Here's a few that you might want to check out.
Hogans Alley (NES) is kind of fun, especially shooting the cans.
I've heard that Gotcha! (NES) is pretty good, but I've never played it.
There is a pretty good light gun type game on Wii Play (Wii). It's obviously inspired by Duck Hunt and Hogans Alley, but it's fun and cheap.

Have you played Project: Horned Owl (PS1)? A game where you get to battle the Metalica!

Never been my favorite. I usually pass unless they can differentiate themselves from Time Crisis or Virtua Cop. I passed up on a chance to grab that Wii compilation one the other day.

I agree w/ several that have been mentioned, but I especially wanted to second these two:

- Ghost Squad (Wii)
- Elemental Gearbolt (PS1)

Both are great games, and Elemental Gearbolt also has one of the best soundtracks ever IMO. Just an absolutely gorgeous game.
