Sadly, many of the cartoons I loved as a kid I can no longer enjoy. This is mostly various Nicktoon and shows on Cartoon Network that were on during the 90s. Funny enough, 90% of the ones I still like are anime, but stuff like Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, Dexters Lab, and Swat Kats are unwatchable for me now.

LOL! I have some good memories watching all of those shows. That's my childhood your hating on man ;)

Cartoons in the 90's might not have been the best, but I still love them ... well maybe not Swat Kats. That was one I barely even watched as a kid. One of my favorite things was when Toonami would come on Cartoon Network. That actually introduced me to anime, which is something I still enjoy today.

I feel like I'm a minority who grew up watching the Pokemon anime without playing the games.  I will say the lack of knowledge of the Pokemon universe made the show so much more special to me.

Oh my god!!  Charmander is evolving!! What's he gonna evolve into!?

I eventually got my hands on Pokemon Sapphire sometime around 2005 and from there I lost that gift, all of the sudden I noticed how each season just fumbles on as the games progressed, with another movie for each legendary Pokemon introduced.  Everyone in the world knows the pokemon, characters and storyline before the hundreds of episodes even air.  The episodes become extremely predictable, and if I'm catching onto what exactly 4Kids have changed, then it's sapped out all personality and attitude from the show, the extras are bland and the characters are all lovey-duvey, even the original seasons had a few edgey or antagonized characters once in a while (If I recall Blaine with his Magmar was a pretty menacing battle, for a young kid at least).  Now I've even grown bored of the games.  Sorry Pikachu, I probably won't choose you next time, I'll probably go with Duck Hunt Duo or Mr. Game & Watch, Roy seems to be pretty good now

After checking it out again, I'd have to say that One Piece is perhaps the worst localization that I've seen 4Kids do. Expanding on my earlier point, this is a show that for young adults that 4Kids tried to rewrite for a young audience from 5-10 yrs old. The editing and censorship is just staggering( 90% edited) , the opening song is just ear splitting along with removing the original orchestral score for medicore synth pieces, some story arcs are completely cut out even if they are important to the plot, and a ton of dialogue is just dumbed down w/ terrible jokes to appeal to kiddies. I think Funimation did a much better job at dubbing the series once they got the rights to it, even though they are behind the japanese releases by several seasons.

Pokemon was a show I knew I didn't like even as a kid lol I liked the Game Boy games and Pokemon Snap and Stadium, even sorta liked a movie or two, but man the show is god awful lol

Also man...I knew stuff from the early 2000's edited for kids and such with One Piece and DBZ was bad, but I didn't realize it was that bad overall in One Piece lol

Battle of the Planets.  Until I saw the original version Gatchaman, I didn't even realize how terrible it was.  For the US release, they cut out all the violent parts and added the goofy R2-D2 looking robot 7-Zark-7 to fill in the gaps.  The little guy didn't even speak in the US version and instead made goofy sounds like he was mental.

Speed Racer.  I thought that show was awesome until I tried watching it again a few years ago.  The Mach-5 is still awesome, but everything else is pure dumb.

I would add the N64 like a couple others have, but I wasn't a kid when it came out and I pretty much knew that it, Mario 64 and Zelda Ocarina of Time sucked from the get-go.

Huh, I still love Speed Racer. I don't think it's any less unrealistic or tacky than lots of other anime shows.

Well, in all fairness I find a lot of the anime shows pretty bad.  Pokémon, Yu-gi-oh, Digimon and a lot of those shown on television have cheap animation, annoying voices, stupid stories, insipid dialogue and just plain blow.

Hopefully that was a joke. I guess my love for it is shameful. It's my favorite console.  :(

When it comes to my earlier post. I was joking. It was hurtful to see N64 on this list. :( Overall it was a good console, but still had it's weaknesses. Some of those where the 3d stick, the parts would rub and the stick would become loose. Yuck loose parts. lol There was also the flopping of the N64dd and never made it out of Japan. They did not use the VRU and mic as much in NA than they did Japan. The box art was realistic here and creative and that is just my personal preference. They could of really made Hey You Pikachu a good game. Despite these flaws, the N64 still remains my favorite console of all time even though I jumped into it later than other people and of course my favorite game of all time is Ocarina of Time.

It's cool.  Everyone has opinions on what they like & dislike.  It also depends on how you are first exposed to and play a console and it's games.  For me, I was coming from PlayStation.  Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Crash, Spyro, MediEvil, WipeOut, Rayman, Street Fighter Alpha, Final Fantasy VII, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, etc.  Picked up the N64 in '08 for Ocarina, Mario 64, Banjo, GoldenEye, Shadows of the Empire and a few others.

It was like going retro.  No voice-acting.  No FMV (pretty cool at the time).  Tedious, repetitive gameplay to make up for the cartridges lack of storage space.  For me, every game on the N64 had something comparable and IMO, better on the PlayStation.  This isn't even counting mature games like Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider and Resident Evil that had no peer on the N64.  And it's pretty much been that way ever since for me.
