The controller reminds me of the Wii U Pro controller.

Yep.

Not gonna waste anymore time on this until there is something concrete to talking about.

Other than the addition of the Coleco name there is nothing new or insightful about this.

They can't even state if it will or won't play original ColecoVision cartridges.

Way to make an already too niche for mass production product even more niche.

Allegedly they are going to have a working prototype at the New York Toy Fair.

Exactly. I can't even give an A for effort; this is more of a C-.

A retro console in today's market isn't going to sell.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, my opinion of course!   ;D

but in all seriousness, you can buy any old, true "retro" console for around $40-$80 and they have a huge library of games you can get fairly cheap.

A system like the Retron 5 that can play games from a half-dozen systems and has a halfway high price survives because it can play thousands upon thousands of already released games and has tricks up it's sleeve like running translation files.  It also has ports for your original controllers.

This thing is a flop from the word go.

Okay. Number one: why are they using a third party Wii U controller?

Two: What's with indie consoles using Atari Jaguar cases? Is there a massive warehouse somewhere full of empty Jaguar cases?

EDIT: ohhhh. because its the Retro VGS guys...

I always thought the Jaguar was a butt-ass-ugly system.  It was like a heinous, deformed version of a Star Trek shuttle craft.  The only thing uglier was it's controller.   :o

I'm still all for it. I'd love physical, cartridge versions of retro-styled games. I'm definitely a retro-gamer at heart.

But seeing how the last campaign went, I'm not expecting them to succeed.

I really wish they would design a new case for this instead of using the old Jag molds. I understand them wanting to save a buck but the re-use of the Jag cases really cheapens the design. This strikes me as something that, once again, will have trouble getting off the ground.
