ok, so here is a funny story...

when I was a youngster I would play on my grandmother's NES and my parent's SNES. well I guess i heard about sonic from a friend or something, so I convince my mom to get a Genesis. we had Sonic 2 and boy did I love that game. That was basically the only  game I had for Genesis but thats all anybody needed! not long after getting it, though, i stayed home from school one day because I felt sick. I thought.. hmmm might as well play some sonic? I just made it to casino land and I though 'uh oh, better go to the bathroom'. As soon as I stood up I vomited all over the place and completely covered the Genesis. it was fried. and I  never played sonic again. =(

I just got sonic mega collection for gamecube and played sonic 2 for the first time since then. this is one of the best days ive had in forever.

I made it past casino land =)

sonic is the man.

This is why you don't let children within a certain radius of your game consoles  ;D

Sonic 2 is the first Megadrive (Genesis) game I can remember playing. It was a constant co-op experience with my friends for a long time. There was a couple years between the last time I played it on Megadrive and when I got that same Sonic Mega Collection for GameCube. Its a good collection. I also picked up Sonic 2 when it released on XBL. Just always have to have that game available to play :)

haha idk, i think they are made for the kids... if it werent for my childhood memories I probably wouldn't be so interested in games and the idea of passing it all on! (of course thats a lame argument when i myself have ruined at least one good console as a youth lol)

yes, its a must-own for all players. any one who is reading this and doesnt own SONIC II must go buy it.. its dirt cheap on 10,000 different platforms. (although I'm sure everyone here has played it)

I've been playing games since I was 3 and a half; though I must admit prior to that I was a destroyer of video games, pulling the tape out of my brothers' Commodore 64 games  ;D

I too really love Sonic 2. This was the first game I ever finished back when I was young (8 yo or so ?). I had it on the Sonic Classics cartridge, that I still have today. But now, I also got it in standalone on european, NA and JP cartridges. I love it so much that I even started speedrunning it. And now, after about 3 runs, I come to hate it. But then love it again. This is a complicated relationship.

I agree that they are made for kids. It was when I was a kid that I fell in love with gaming. If it wasn't for those early days of exploring Hyrule and The Mushroom Kingdom on my NES, then I'm not sure I'd be a gamer now.

When my daughter is old-enough, I'm gonna post her up in my game room and let her just explore all the different games.

My son has had my collection wide open to him since he was old enough to play games.  He has some favorites.  Contra was the first game we finished together.  We used the code and all 60 lives, but we finished it.  The first one we finished with no code was Turtles in Time.  I'm a proud dad of a little nerd.

contra was one of the first games I ever beat from beginning to end, too! however, i just beat turtles in time for the first time about a month ago, and I've had that game for like 20 years lol

fortunately for me, you don't have to be any good at'em to have fun!
