Two immediately come to mind for me:

Sonic R (Saturn)
Waterworld (SNES)

I standby that Sonic CD was never all that good, but both versions have some really cool tracks! (JAP/EU Stardust Speedway Bad Future and Sonic Boom of course).

If you don't agree with my judgement of Sonic CD, please I implore you to replay it for a few minutes, think original Sonic, Sonic 2, then CD.

Dragon Valor for the PlayStation.
Time Stalkers for the Dreamcast.

I actually enjoyed both of those games. Especially Time Stalkers; I finished it for the first time a few months ago.

Some games that I didn't care for include:

Mega Man X7 for the PlayStation 2.
Hatsune Miku Project Diva X for the Vita/PlayStation 4.

Not as good as the original trilogy, I agree. But not all that good, I don't agree. It's still way better than most of the modern Sonic games.

Battle Arena Toshinden 1 and 2.
Not terrible games, merely mediocre, but the soundtracks were excellent. I'd put the game discs in my car CD player. Sho's music from BAT and Sofia's from BAT2 were probably my favorites.

I can't really remember the music, but I seem to recall Actraiser 2 had pretty good music.

Also, Tron 2.0 had great music that tied right in with Wendy Carlos' movie score.

As long as you have any valid points as to why a game doesn't work for you, then fire away!  I'd like to think that we're all mature enough to respect each others opinion

I've always hated the Kingdom Hearts games but I do love the soundtracks. In fact I could say pretty much any Square Enix game post-merge, aside from Nie-

Nier *ducks*

Mother (EarthBound Beginnings) is, in retrospect, not a terrific game in any regard. Its pretty flawed, as are its sequels, but this one hasn't aged terrifically well to boot. That being said, the style, story and most of all the soundtrack keep me coming back to this game. It's some of the greatest 8-bit music ever created and the soundtrack cd (now on vinyl too!) is worth owning for any Mother series fan.

Here's some picks from the depths of obscurity. I actually like all of these, but without their great soundtracks I probably wouldn't:

China Warrior (Turbo Grafx 16)
Valis (Genesis)
Magician Lord (Neo Geo)
View Point (Neo Geo)
Boomer's Adventure in Asmik World (Game Boy)
Majou Densetsu II: Daimashikyou Galious (NES)
Bugs Bunny: The Crazy Castle (NES)
Toobin' (NES)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (NES)

I thought of a few more.

Eternal Sonata for the PS3/360. Gorgeous game with equally gorgeous music, but it was so damn boring.
Nights of Azure for the PS4. The soundtrack is probably the best thing the game has going for it, sadly.
Patapon for the PSP. Ugh...such an annoying game, and yet the pata-pata-pata-pon will not get out of your head.
