Not really worth its own post, and also not too big of a deal.  I'd rather browse the internet on my phone than I would on a console lol

And nothing of value was lost.

I think the only time I really ever used a console's internet browser was when the Wii first came out, as looking up youtube videos on the browser worked better than the Youtube app.

It's not like it's necessary on a console, since all of our phones and PCs can do internet better. But at the same time, it's just such a basic function for consoles to have nowadays, it seems odd that it's not going to have it. I mean, most every other console, handheld, phone, device, whatever has some sort of internet browser on it. Hell, even the Dreamcast had one in 1999.

All of the browsers I've used on handhelds have been pretty bad since it's often a strange browser that doesn't allow for things like javascript and such. then again, the title post says "at launch," so it might be something added later (after they figure out the monthly online service thing), who knows.

I can live without one on the switch, afterall there are a billion other ways I can connect. But I do hope they could consider one in the future.

I never even used an Internet Browser on my consoles. That's what my computer and phone are for.

Crazy question

What about those public WiFi places that make you pull up a webpage to agree to the terms of service before you connect?
I don't think the Switch will be able to connect to those without a browser.

A lot of the homebrew stuff with Wii U would use a exploit through the browser as well, no idea if that is significant to why the Switch may/may not have a browser.

I've used the Wii U browser a lot. Since I don't have a smart TV, it is basically my secondary source for Internet activity at home. Not having a browser is kinda pathetic. In 2017 that's a given, not a feature.

In my cynical view, this is just another tell tale sign about the incoming failure that is the Switch. I sometimes just wish Nintendo would cancel this and just go third-party, because they really stink at hardware and they admit they're not even trying to compete on the market.

Has nothing to do with possible failure, but it is a tell tale sign of them trying to get the system out faster.  No media apps, no internet browser, essentially months long beta testing on the online service.  My guess is their March launch is so that they are far enough way from the Pro coming out, but far sooner than the Scorpio.  It'll have a base by the time the holidays come.

Wouldn't surprise me at all, especially since there aren't a lot of first-party launch titles either. I'm sure come the holidays, they'll have more products out in stores and ready as well as a good library of games for folks to pick from. At that point, they can advertise more features.
