Has a game ever gotten an AO rating?
« on: April 07, 2017, 05:39:26 pm »
Does anyone know of a game that is rated AO?  ESRB has it as an offical rating a game can get but no game has ever gotten it.

I did a quick google search to see if i could find any games with an actual AO rating on the box/case and have been collecting games for a while now and i have never even seen an AO rated title let alone owned one.

GTA V has prostitutes, drug use, extortion,  high level bank robberies, arsony, murder, rape, anti government rhetoric and it allows you to murder and abuse woman in first person.  It allows you to rip a guys teeth out with a pear of pliers and electricute him half to death.   If that game didn't get AO what would?

It seems before most games get AO they just get banned from release.  Why do they even have an AO rating if no game can ever achieve it?   :)

A-O games sound like complete crap to me. Most of those games on the list are PC Porn games, or games with so much violence they belong in video game hell in fact All AO games belong in hell burning and on fire. Why the heck are they mostly old 1990's anyway PC games, in my opinon PC games tend to be the least fun wise back in the day. but this is comming from a 1990's kid that had nothing but a PC. and no consoles at the time. Most PC games of the 1990's had awful glitches and crashes and lag oh god, the lag and if you didn't spend $5,000 or more on a PC back then. this is what you had to deal with L-A-G

But i do enjoy the sims 3 for PC and the The Sims 2 both series are way way better on PC then the console versions :)

Wait I'm not done. I mean back in the early 1990's up until the late 00's, PC's required SO much upgrades, and cost SO much more the $1,000 to buy a PC that ever could play decent games with  :-X

What 's strange is that the ages for the ratings are only a year apart. M-rating being for 17+ and AO being for 18+. Usually Pornography is for 21+.

Big retailers and console platforms froun on AO because most aim to be family friendly. Most AO games are on PC because there's basically no real regulatory governance for that platform. It's kind of funny, because if you made game with that kind of content you might as well not get rated at all. You would only be waisting money.

Here's an example of an AO game on Steam:

From what I heard, it's not absolute garbage. ;)

GTA: San Andreas got an AO rating after that "Hot Coffee" incident.
