Yeah. The graphics are definitely more life-like. 360 characters always looked like dolls or marionettes doing their best impression of real life. While the XBox One characters do look like they are reaction in a life-like manner and showing good emotion on their faces.

That said, the game line-up this generation really isn't the best. I feel like 3 years into the generation, now, that we should have some really memorable games by now. There's a handful, but not as much as there should be.

Not sure what you mean exactly, but if you're referring to graphics then I'd say it depends on the game. The leap in graphics between gens has really become less noticeable between last gen and this gen. Even Gen 6 to Gen 7 was less impressive than I thought it would be.

It's been next gen for awhile now, but BikingJahuty does point out rightly, the leaps between gens are going to be less, because there's only so far tech can go within a few years now.  There's probably never going to be that point again, at least not anytime soon, where we get that 2D to 3D, or PS2 to PS3 leap we had in the past.  Really, consoles anymore are just low end PC's that can be better optimized.   Can basically just look at what PC gaming can do and that is what the next step for consoles will be.  PC's are doing 4k gaming, so consoles will be doing it too.  It's just continued fine tuning.

What about VR in combination with the life like grapics,

Many can't even play resident evil VR since it's to scary with VR and the current grapics.

VR is a big step for some game genre's

I think VR will be more viable in its next iteration, when more games are willing to use it beyond most of these one off small titles, or minimal integration into other games.  While one can get spooked in Resident Evil 7 VR, I'd hate to play that for an entire game.  It's awkward and clumsy and low quality, at least for the short time I tried it out, though it's feeling of putting you into the game is impressive.

It is pretty new and many are not used to it's controls so if you only play it for a short time it is clumsy and awkward but that's not really fair to judge it like that if I'm honest.

Furthermore even if many games in wich it is used are low quality in resident evil 7 I wouldn't say the quality is low far from it if you would like my opinion about it.

For survival horror this is a big step up.

Probably since about 2015 have I felt these new games were "next gen" more often than not.  We still have a ways to go but games like Mad Max, Horizon, and Call of Duty pretty much showcase how realistic some games can be.  Especially Horizon on PS4 Pro...

"VR" can go F itself.   8)  Sorry if that offends anyone.  Its a fad like it was the 2 times before when the market tried it and like 3D did and I hope it ("VR") goes away soon.  The "VR" content out now looks like sub-PlayStation 2 content and it is horrendous.  Plus, they need to stop calling it "VR".  Actual VR is what the holodeck is in Star Trek and not having to put on some godawful helmet and hold odd controller things in each hand.  We're over 100+ years away (maybe never) from the holodeck-type stuff.  Today's "VR" will be relegated to horror and porn and the odd space sim.  The only way this would work is if they developed a room with screens and an omnidirectional walking pad on the floor.  At least then you wouldn't have a helmet and it would give a better sense of true virtual reality especially since curved OLED screens are now a thing.  Would be pretty neat to have a circular room with curved OLED screens encapsulating the environment.  But I digress.   ;D

first of all that would be pretty expensive to have,

2nd of all you would not really be in the game by standing in a room full of screens, you'll need a helmet for that or some kind of device that messes with your brain. I don't see the last thing happening any time soon that's for sure  ::)

I'm pretty sure that VR will get better and more full games like resident evil 7 will surface. For VR helmets are the most affordable way and currently the only solution to truly put yourself in the game.

For survival horror this is a big step up.

I think it's fair enough in regards to RE7.  There's a lot of weird, quirky, elements to playing RE7 in VR, such as some people can only play it where they move in chunks, rather than smooth movement and even in smooth movement, there's odd things like seeing your arms out in front of you, disconnected, or how transitions between animations have a black screen.  Not too mention the game looks worse in VR.

It certainly benefits some genres, particularly horror, but RE7 is kinda like the best on the hardware, and it's only just "alright" in it's execution, setting aside how well it can immerse you in the game, which was the one thing that impressed me.  There just aren't enough must haves beyond a lot of small experiences on it, to justify it's enormous price tag right now, and that's saying that when I don't think the tech itself is as good as it can be, as it is the cheaper of the VR hardware.

That's right. And the technology is early days. It must be Late Atari early NES horse power the VR technology is at at the moment. Wait until it reaches it's advancement to a SNES/GEN type of horse power and that's only the start.

I'm pretty curious how far VR will go in the near future, will be really interesting to play allot of games this way that's for sure. I can only imagine how titles like monster hunter would be.

VR is the only place for future development of the gaming landscape. 3D graphics has to be close to it's limit at this point it would only be logical that it replaces 3D like it replaced 2D in the mid 90s. But I think the process will be a lot slower than the rapid speed it overtook 2D as the dominate area. If I had to make a vague guess 2D gaming was big for at least 30-35 years until it took a backseat? With 3D we must been in it for about 20+ years so far? If I had to guess that's 15 years on the clock before something truly revolutionary unless 3D has progressed faster than 2D did in it's dominate era.

They feel current gen because of how long they have been out but when I first played them it definitely felt next gen quality and a huge leap from 360.  It's not as huge of a leap from like SNES to N64 but it's huge enough where the little details warrant upgrading :).

The games keep getting better and better.  Forza 7 Truly looks breath taking.  No 360 game comes close.  I can't see where they will go from here next gen.  It's almost getting impossible to get better graphically without making it real life quality.
