Super Metroid Playtronic?
« on: October 27, 2017, 02:48:04 pm »
So i got my copy of Super Metroid in the mail today. One thing i noticed that on the label it says "Playtronic" Ive never seen this on a cartage before. So i looked it up and it's a South american company that distribute the game. I have no problems with having this. However whenever i did buy it off of Ebay the picture showed the american cartage and even stated it the the US version (which it seems they both are still the same). Is there anything real difference between them? I paid $28 for it. Just wondering.

Edit #2: Update: I opened up the cartage to find what you see in the pictures. The game is a fake. I just reported the person and requesting my money back. I am not okay with someone trying to sell fakes/repros without stating it in the listing or on the cartage. The game does work on my SNES Jr but not on my Retron 5. Either way this person has been reported and hope to get my money back. Thank you guys for the information.

Playtronic games don't have a game code at the bottom of the label.  They just have a Playtronic logo.

Does it work?  If it works, go with it.  $28 bones is pretty cheap.

Open it up and check the board to be sure.

Definitely sounds like the Brazilian release, might be worth requesting a SNES [ BR] category.

dumb question. on the back of the cartridge where it has the Nintendo molding... does it have the Nintendo molding?

I own a few Reproduction carts and its either the way you took the pic or the plastic looks awfully close to that of a reproduction cart. the repro carts I own have that same sort of slightly bluish plastic look to them. they are just slightly off color. essentially they just look less aged, not damaged just like the plastic has less time in the air.

EDIT:

Its also completely missing the cartridge designation... the NTSC numbers.. should be something like SNS-RI-USA and under that should be "made in japan". I understand this might be a different regioned cart but it should still have some sort of designation like that on it for any market.
