(EDIT)
NOT A SALES THREAD I AM NOT PLANNING ON SELLING ANYTHING

For me? I don't like to get anything over $30.00 used. My most expensive game in my collection I think is Zelda Ocarina Of Time N64 $30.00 lose and Banjo Towie. I managed to find Banjo Towie Complete In Box for $30.00 with the original price being $60.00 CIB. the rest of my games are used under $30.00 as far as I remember :)

Average would be around 2 high end would 5 or 6 for games.  For consoles average would be like 10-15.

Please remind me if this is another terrible topic, and no I am not going to care how much you do spend on a video game. please delete this thread if it catches flies. I am not the person who even thinks to track a persons wealth I am not a robber and I don't think anyone will rob anyone. Sorry for the 2 worst threads in the general section.

ignore this thread or lock it if you think it is offensive. Please forgive the first post. I may be asking too personal of a question like last time

I spend 40 dollars on a used game probably every week as of recent because of switch games which retail for 60 new and about 40-45 used. Mostly because I am a retail Ronald lol.  But that's because I'm fussy over condition and don't care for hunting or haggling. It's one of my downfalls but I dont mind as long as i'm not being beat to death.  I know a bad price when I see one.  The most I ever spent on a used video game was 120 on a Smash Bros CIB for n64 in flawless condition.  But I haven't leaped into the ultra rare realm yet like Little Samson :).  Not sure if I ever will.

Your posts aren't out of line or offensive nor terrible :).   I never thought you were trying to ask for money or pick on people.  It was just a question about what people spend on games.  I thought it was a good thread topic.  :D

I try and spend as close to under $10 for every used game I buy, but typically I spend 1/3 or less of what a game goes for on ebay used because I'm cheap like that. That's not to say I haven't spent full priced on some more expensive used games, the record going to Battle Garegga which I spent $180 on.

Depends on from whom I'm buying.  Like a thrift shop, I'm not paying over 10 bucks for a game.  They likely have not checked to see if the game works, and don't care about condition, and there are no refunds or replacements.  At a game store, if they are a reputable place, have likely cleaned and check the game, so I'm willing to spend more.  I don't buy expensive games though outright.  I usually mix it with trades if I can, which is how I got stuff like CIB NES Legend of Zelda, but I'd be willing to buy stuff in the sub-50 dollar range.

Usually spend? About $10 to $15 is my comfort zone for used. $30 for a brand new release. The most I've ever spent on a game is about $180. Most I would ever consider spending? Well, I plan on picking up a complete copy of Burning Rangers so.... not gonna be cheap.

Usually twenty or under in person. If it is a used game I am on the hunt for, I wouldn't pay more than original retail price - around fifty dollars.

If we're talking game cash price for a non-current system then £15 is a bitter pill and £20 is the absolute limit, but normally I trade for stuff, probably 98% of the time I've either found it for a quid or two in a charity shop or it's traded towards.

There are lots of opportunities to buy something cheap then trade it towards something else, either directly trading for games or trading it for something else which can then be traded for games or swag. The non-direct route pays off.

Three instances: 1) The trade-in shop CEX takes media and electronics, toys-to-life figures etc. and vends games from the latest releases back to NES/MS. 2) a large mail-order specialist I use sells anything from games and systems, magazines, swag, strategy guides, old programming books for home computers, calculators, electronic games etc. etc. I can pick up an old calculator and pretty much trade it for a game. 3) A local game shop changed hands a year or two ago and now specializes in retro games and anything else 'interesting' (Lego, Games Workshop, anything) and at the same time imports Japanese games. I've got about 7 import region-free Xbox 360 shmups from them through trade, on top of other items. These are not things that are lying around in the wild.

So yeah, trade towards, that's how I roll.

Personally, depending of the game or series. just bought Legend of Zelda Windwaker for gamecube for $45 almost mint condition, with no hesitation. if it's a Pokemon game, anything under $50 is a good deal. but I'm still questioning Conker's bad fur day for the N64. saw a cartridge (no box or manual) going for $140. Cart looks in good condition, but I can't justify the price. Got it on rare reply so I think I'm okay for now.

Typically I'd like to spend nothing make my money back and a profit from lots multiple items from a same person etc while aquiring the stuff that I  want, I'd say 90% + is done that way for me.

Than a small % lose buys or small losses on lots usually less than 10 euro's however it usually is something that can be pricy but also some cheap stuff that can be a bit tricky to find

Sometimes I spend a bit more 20 - 50 but pretty rare and more pricy in general, prefarably ntc exclusive and for a very good price.

Last year I only bought one retro game for a high price european version of rapid reload ps1 for 55, and the year before that shinobi X for the saturn for 60 since I wanted that game badly.

The record money I've ever spend on a single retro game is 80 dollars for a castlevania symphony of the night CE I was kinda lucky and it was the game that made me decide to collect for the sony consoles. Can't believe I found that years ago in quite a short time after  I decided to want it after playing them GBA games wich I found by chance and to be fair ever since I've never found the Collectors edition from a first non collector or a reseller ever again so it was the right time.

Than again it's a game that is in the top 5 most expensive ps1 games since it reguallry goes for 250 - 350 dollars. Didn;t regret it anyways since It was a pretty enjoyable summer playing that game. at the time the game was worth around 175 - 200 dollars on ebay but it was nearby a local pickup so my chances were a bit higher of getting it.

My general cap is about $30, and that has to be something I really want.

Ever since I joined Best Buy's Gamer's Club Unlocked, which pretty much caps brand new (non-special edition) games at $42 (20% of the $60 retail price), I've been finding it hard to spend even more than $40 on a brand new game.

I usually just do half or less of the current going rate for a game, so if I don't like it, I should be able to make my money back pretty easily.

But I have spent retail on higher priced games.  I bought Rule of Rose for nearly $200 and Punisher CIB for Genesis for nearly $175.  Paid for by selling duplicates, but I paid it.  *shrug*
