I may return to this thread later this year. I have made it a goal of mine to replay all the games in my top 10 games of all time, a list that has not changed much in over a decade, as well as about half a dozen contenders for being top games of mine. The purpose of all this is to see if these games still hold up as my favorites or if they've been officially beaten out by better games I've played. I'm about halfway through this process and while a few will likely retain their places, some, to my surprise, have fallen quite far off the list.

Favorites are...

Fallout 3
Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, NES Original
Brutal Legend
Super Mario 64, Super Mario World, Super Mario Odyssey
Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie

And probably there's a couple others I could put in, I'm just not sure if I consider them favorites or not.

1. Dragon's Lair*
2. The Legend of Zelda (1 & 2)

Past this point the answer has more to do with what I have available to me at the time. Games like Fallout 4, Diablo III, Portal  etc... have all consumed a lot of my time over the years but when I finish playing them I'm fine. The two (technically 3) listed here have withstood the test of time as focal points of gaming for me. These are the games that always come to mind beyond any scope of nostalgia or current shiny release. Their my desert island games... Not that I would object to any of my other favorites showing up, it's just that these are the only ones with set in stone places on my list. I have bought, re-bought, emulated, drawn, mapped these games. I have even literally ate, slept and drank their spin off merchandise many times over the years.

*This game set a high bar in every category, other than direct control, it is little more than a cleverly disguised disc menu in that regard (But at the time, when random access video was virtually unheard of, it was seemingly magical.) It took 10 years just to get all the levels at home. 14 years to match the audio and come close on video. And 24 years to become nearly indistinguishable at home from the arcade. This was the game that made everything else pale in comparison on one level or another for most of my life and it came out the same year as Tapper, Spy Hunter and The original Mario Bros (not Super) hit the arcades. It was beyond futuristic and colored my opinion of what video games could be for many many years. I have collected this one on nearly every system I own and have bought systems just to experience their interpretation of it so I would be remis to not place it at the top of my list.I can not overstate the effect this game had on me as a kid.

There’s a lot of games I really enjoyed but haven’t played a second time, I don’t know if that category can be termed favorites.

Games I have loved and gone back to include:
Skyrim
Oblivion
Fallout 3
Fallout New Vegas
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition

My fave games either have amazing gameplay that makes just the act of playing super fun (e.g. Mario Kart and Sleeping Dogs) or have a lot of replay ability for other reasons like being able to made a custom character, chooses different perks and adopt a different play style (e.g. Elder Scrolls and Fallout).

I also really like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 because of all the characters and content and fan service.

I've recently settled on my big 5 which are:

1/2. Final Fantasy VIII
1/2. Persona 3 FES
3. The House in Fata Morgana
4. Zero Escape trilogy
5. Danganronpa 1 & 2

I love FF8 and P3 equally for different reasons. I do love Persona 4/5 and other old Final Fantasy games too but P3 and FF8 are my favourites and filling favourite games lists with loads of games from the same series usually makes them boring. I love Persona 4 nearly as much as 3, 5 slightly behind 4 but it'd probably be behind Danganronpa on this list. Not sure about the other Final Fantasy games, it's been a long ass time since I've played them properly. Fata Morgana is a visual novel so not technically a game but details shmetails.

Battlefield 1 (PC)
Far Cry 5 (PC)
Grand Theft Auto V (PC}
The Legend of Zelda: A link to the past - SNES

I'm also addicted to CS:GO because there is no better FPS I could be playing. I often hang out on https://dreamteam.gg/csgo platform. Thare are many other good players and playing together is much more fun than playing  alone.
