I don’t have quite as many finished as a lot of you. I actually own many more RPGs than this, I just haven’t finished them.

Final Fantasy (GBA)
Final Fantasy IV (II, SNES)
Final Fantasy VI (III, SNES)
Final Fantasy VII (PS1)
Final Fantasy VIII (PS1)
Final Fantasy IX (PS1)
Final Fantasy X (PS2)
Final Fantasy X-2 (PS2)
Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
Final Fantasy XIII (X360)
Dragon Warrior (NES)
Dragon Quest VIII (PS2)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Chrono Cross (PS1)
The Legend of Dragoon (PS1)
Arc the Lad (PS1)
Pokémon Blue (GB)
Pokémon Gold (GBC)
Pokémon Sapphire (GBA)
Fallout 3 (PS3)
The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim (X360)
Super Mario RPG (SNES)
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (XBOX)
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II (XBOX)
Dragon Age Origins (PS3)
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (GBA)
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance (PS2)
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance 2 (XBOX)
Marvel Ultimate Alliance (XBOX)
Mass Effect (X360)
Mass Effect 2 (X360)
Mass Effect 3 (X360)
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (SNES)

Are we including the Castlevania SOTN-type games as RPGs?
If so, I can add:
Symphony of the Night
Circle of the Moon
Harmony of Dissonance
Aria of Sorrow
Dawn of Sorrow
Portrait of Ruin
Order of Ecclesia

Though I got into a debate on another forum over whether Order of Ecclesia qualifies as a Metroidvania, since it’s pretty linear.

EDIT: Added FF Mystic Quest. I forgot about it because it’s not a game I own, I borrowed it from a friend. Not that beating that game is much of an accomplishment ;)

I'd be hard-pressed to make such a list. While I do love me a good RPG (specifically JRPGs), time is not on my side these days. I get in maybe one a year at best? Just remembering what I played back when I had the time would be a challenge!

There's threads going on another forum about 'gaming resolutions' and 'games beaten this year'. I've been focusing in on that, and so far I'm averaging 2 games beaten a month this year. Which, granted, is pretty low numbers compared to other people. It's pretty darn high for me though, what with juggling 2 jobs, other hobbies, family obligations, trying to keep up a social life of some kind... laundry... you get the idea.

Maybe I should devote next year to JRPGs! I'd feel better about a lower number of beaten games, and I could clear out some stuff I've had forever and not gotten to yet- like Shadow Hearts 3! Loved the first two, but never started the third for some reason.

Gods... it would take me hours to list the RPGs I have finished over the years. And I took a couple to go through some game lists. You can subtract Zeldas if you don't believe they are RPGs... I just included them to be inclusive. Some are duplicates, but I did play them in the different versions and sometimes multiple times (like probably 20+ runs through of FF1 over the years).

151 RPGs completed on Nintendo systems. Probably 2-3 times that many if you factor in my other consoles and PC games...

Despite what my parents and girlfriend say... Time well spent!

If you want the list...

What are we considering as an RPG?

Is Fallout 3 an RPG?  Is Fable an RPG?  Dark Souls?  Anything with a level up system?

I was wondering the same thing.  I didn’t think I’d beaten that many, and started looking at some of these lists and then second guessing myself.

Yeah, because God of War has a level up system, so does Alice: Madness Returns.

Majority of games nowadays feature some sort of experience system that correlates to upgrading skills and stuff.

Ridiculously impressive lists. Bravo!

My question to you is, what is the hardest RPG you beat? Or what us the hardest RPG of all time?

All matter of opinion. To me the Grand Theft Auto series are RPG's. Free roam, do main quests, do side quests, collect items, kill bosses, grind for money. Yep, GTA's are RPG's and no one will ever convince me otherwise. You don't need anime characters for a game to be RPG. Its a genre where it's all opinion based.

Traditional RPGs, my list consists of like Pokemon games, a couple of Dragon Quest games, and the Wild ARMS series.

I based my list on if the game was filed under the Role-playing category on GameFAQs or not (plus some games that fell under Strategy as I do consider games like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics to be RPGs still).

I feel you there! 40hrs job and second kid on the way...is time rolling on faster or what?

I wish I could play that Shadow Hearts as well! Only copies I've come across were all over my price limit  :'(

Some of them I've beat quite a while ago so my memory is a little patchy, but I definitely remember Xenosaga II being very ridiculous boss wise and unfriendly towards grinding. Can't remember clearly about III but it's quite possible that it was rather punishing as well.

Other than that, SMT: Nocturne and SMT: Strange Journey were a challenge, but I adore the series so I won't be too hard on it.

One of the hardest RPG that I've yet to beat though and that I have a personal grudge against is Unlimited Saga. It's on my bucket list....I might die trying.

Not opening that can of worms. My list is based on personal beliefs towards what passes for a RPG. It's not like the RPG police will come and arrest me for blasphemous listing! Lol. At the end of the day, these are just personal goals for the fun of it.
