Collections are kind of cheating, IMO.  It’s a pet peeve of mine, like people who say their favorite movie is Harry Potter

I disagree. My favorite movies are the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but I would never tell someone that just The Fellowship or just Two Towers is my favorite movie, because you really can't have one without having all three.

Multiple parts of movies that fit one story are a different thing in my opinion It's logical that one could think of not only picking a single part in for example lord of the rings or harry potter. It can be seen as a single piece. While for others they have a particular movie that is the best in the entire series. In my opinion in the example of lord of the rings all movies have epic scenes are excellent overall not to mention that it's a single well written story spread among 3 movies you can't have the story withouth having all three movies. For some pretty bad movie series I could see this method being flawed though since story is less important and quality is not always that close to the classics.

As far as this wii example goes metroid prime trilogy. two of the 3 games are originally on the cube so in that case i would agree that collections are not really a part of a consoles top 100. Cheating fits the bill in this case

This is actually my prime example, lol.  Each film in the trilogy was released a year apart.  Changes to each subsequent film were made based on criticism and reaction to the previous release.  They three movies tell a complete story, but they are most definitely three different films.  I would put Fellowship in my Top Ten films of all time, but wouldn't let The Two Towers close to the Top 100.

This I agree with.  If there are games on the collection that were not originally released on the console in question, the collection makes sense, as it becomes "the way" to play those games on the console in question..
