General / Has gaming gotten better on worse in your opinion?
« on: June 12, 2018, 12:38:28 am »
What are your thoughts?

The way I see it, companies get to charge us online play, DLC for those willing to purchase, and on top of that in game purchases to keep playing!

Back in the old days, oh I don't know let's take Super Mario World. You buy a SNES and you buy SMW. You get your great game for whatever you paid and those are the only purchases required to play it! No online, no in app bogus nonsense, and no DLC! It's a fantastic game that was given to you for not only a fair price (I assume, that's another thing, $60 for console games?!) but on top of all of that it;s a cartridge! It wont scratch like a CD!

The way I see it gaming has become a mess of quality graphics over decent gameplay, companies milking players like a cow for cash, and in general lacking the charm a game should have like retro ones do!

That being said I'm aware this only applies to some games like battlefront 2 and whatnot and games like Bloodstained and Nier and Doom etc. etc. exist, but come on. Are we really paying for this?

Everybody's all debating about the new stuff and why or why not and I'm just here like I can't even afford it at the moment because I already blew my allotted spending money!

Anybody else like some games that are just, bad? Personally I love Sonic and the Secret Rings and I know it's terrible but it's so much fun.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I haven't felt like that in a long time (excluding the new Doom) since DOOM 2016.

I dunno, maybe playstation or nintendo. I've always liked both consoles but the portability nintendo has is a great selling point and really strikes me as awesome.

You're not wrong, I wasn't wowed by anything in particular other than the Doom sequel or whatnot.

Retro. You can so easily buy good retro games for cheap and are so much fun.

Interesting to see people do this. I could beat 52 in a year if I really tried, but that would have to wait until next year.

Is it something like the text needed to show off the VGCollect collection?

The Xbox One. I don't know, whether it's going to be having to get a whole new library for the thing or trying to play Halo with a controller (Yes I am a PC guy) I could never get into it like a Ps2 or a Gamecube. I've used a PS4 less and I like it more than Xbox. I don't know, I guess it just doesn't appeal to me.

No. I'm always looking to increase it. I'm definitely more satisfied with it now than perhaps three years ago, but it's not nearly the size or coolness I would like it to be at.

Yeah, especially when I'm at stuff like retro gaming expo. However, I'm definitely going to barter.

I care enough to where I won't blow most of my spending money on a single game, but if the game is a MUST have for me I'll pony up cash. Mostly not an issue since I find really good deals on the stuff I buy.

Maximum I will spend on a single game is $50. If it's above that it either better be a screaming deal/one great game or it's not worth it for me.
Must have like Devil May Cry 5?

Ah, you know me well. Depending on what console (I'm assuming PS4) I'd have to get my hands on a ps4 first, and then yes.
