Use this topic to report issues with Items. Examples include:
- Items with mismatching pictures/information
- Physical item cancelled and not released
- Item has watermarked or photoshopped images
- Invalid items in the database
- Any concerns about rejected edits
- Any explanations about an edit you want to do so that it won't be rejected
When you post about an item, include the current title, a link to the item in question and a description for the report. Do not edit posts to add additional content to it, make a new post instead.
When a report is processed, a member of DB staff will use the strikeout text effect on the link so that you, and we, know that the item has been handled already.

https://vgcollect.com/item/182952
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is now named PUBG: Battlegrounds. Being a digital version there's no packaging to justify keeping the old name unless digital versions are gonna go by their 1.0 release names only.
-
I can find no information regarding the rename, and whether or not the game technically may be considered a different version or not. None of our name sources have updated to the current name, so for now I would just put it into alt-name field.

https://vgcollect.com/item/212511 (https://vgcollect.com/item/212511) ended up submitting as a blank entry and when I tried to edit it to add the information I originally edited as it just went back to the edit submission page so I assume my edits didn't even go through.
Just going to remake my new item submission now.
EDIT: https://vgcollect.com/item/212512 (https://vgcollect.com/item/212512) also ended up submitting as a blank item and I have no clue what is going on. I'll just hold off on submitting for now.

I'm just wanting to report that your edit submissions did not appear in the edit queue. I'm not sure what the issue was, but submissions from others since then have gone through just fine as well as new entries being submitted.

Okay so it's done it again. I'm convinced that something I'm adding to the game details or images is causing the system to act out. Now there are 3 blank entries courtesy of me trying to add the "Harry Potter Collection [IT]" for GBA.
They should probably be deleted.
I guess I can test that theory out once I have something else to add?
EDIT: I think something I'm doing is wrong, I just tried adding "Paws & Claws: Best Friends: Dogs & Cats [CA]" and it resulted in another blank entry: https://vgcollect.com/item/212605 (https://vgcollect.com/item/212605)

I didn't make any suggestions before because I had thought you had already created a similar topic about the issue in the past. More than likely, the images you are uploading are too large which causes a timeout error when processing information to the site that results in a blank entry being created. Below are a few other threads that also experienced the same issue:

That is absolutely the issue as I have now found. I re-sized all images used to 25% of the original and my 2 games submitted just fine, thanks so much! I will now keep image size in mind in the future.
The below is the full list of blank entries I accidentally made if someone could please delete them? Thanks :)

The EAN is what is in the URL for the publisher's official site, and then is replicated on other websites as well. Most results seem to be French language sites. For PS4 there seems to only be 2 versions, the one like on this entry and the boxed version which doesn't have an entry. There is a snapcase version (that looks like an AES game case) but that doesn't have any barcode on it at all. So the barcode on this has been changed to the one found in UK with this back:

Mine has this barcode, 5055060949429. The one thats on here doesnt give much hits.
And my cover is different, it has the playstation exclusive unlock horizon zero dawn on it top right. And the one in the database has a provisinal cover.

Unfortunately there is confirmation on that EAN: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175040484715
I have updated the info on the entry to put in the back number and the inlay number (that number is the EAN). The one you say you have seems the same front cover but the back cover is different (the back number is different) and the inlay of course has the different EAN also.
The one you have: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/194744712778
So this situation is one where we can't tell which is which. Could one be a UK version and one be a Scandinavian version? Did one come inside of some other packaging and another not? Doesn't seem to be a way for me to tell.
I can't do a compare on the inlay text and there are no manuals or inserts for any of the listings on Ebay to give a clue. So this means that 170678 will need to get a (IS70049-01) descriptor, and you can add your version with a (IS70049-X1) descriptor. The front arts on both versions are the same as far as I can tell.

Not really confirmation as that first one also uses the provisinal cover. And that on has a cd box with a promo/nfs cd.
Second link is what i have.

You're looking at the wrong item, as the original eBay listing has already ended its auction. 5055060949320 / IS70049-01 is located here (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Monster-Hunter-World-Iceborne-Master-Edition-PlayStation-4-2019-/175040484715?nordt=true&rt=nc&orig_cvip=true).
As previously mentioned, both IS70049-01 and IS70049-X1 have the exact outer packaging aside from the back number and presumed 7-digit spine number that is additional to the Sony serial. At the same time, both items include the exact disc. The existing entry (https://vgcollect.com/item/170678) currently features outdated stock art as the front image art slot.

I tried to change the barcode for this game from 4967652101379 to 4967652101430 but it got rejected.
The first number is for SLPS-01037 and the second number is for SLPS-91086 (the game I tried to edit). Currently both games have the same barcode in the database.

Barcode changes are almost always going to get rejected. Best to post about an item having a wrong barcode in this thread instead of submitting an edit for it.

It may be difficult to find confirmation, but the two items may have their own unique spine numbers. If that doesn't work, the back cover fine print box text information, as well as minor design differences such as the "Xbox 360 | Xbox LIVE" text, varies from another. Regardless, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood - Special Edition - Classics (Descriptor) [IT] seems to work as entry names.
-
Those two also have different discs.

Hi, I'm submitting some updates to CT Special Forces for the GBA: https://vgcollect.com/item/2796 (https://vgcollect.com/item/2796)
I noticed that it uses details that are related to the [CA] version. There was a separate general NA release as you can see on this sold Mercari listing: https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m75058744441/?ref=search_results (https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m75058744441/?ref=search_results)
In addition, my copy came as a English/French sleeve. The normal copy was sitting inside of it sealed.
Wanted to clear that up so it didn't look weird when I removed that detail from the NA copy and resubmitted the back box art.

I accidentally put this in the ESHOP for the Switch instead of the regular edition!

Chrono Cross - The Radical Dreamer Edition
This keeps getting rejected and I know why, but the "Edition" part is actually the game subtitle, so I figured it would best be separated with a colon instead of hyphen. That is also how it's being listed on other news and game websites at the moment. I also made a typo with "Dreamer" instead of "Dreamers" when I first made the entry, so my proposed edit would be Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition.

According to the existing style guide guidelines, all edition or re-release series titles are to follow a hyphen. This is a rule from the original style guide that has not been changed since formed. The rule in detail can be read at "The Hyphen and the Edition" section of the Item Name post (https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,10837.msg177773.html#msg177773) of the Advanced Style Guide.
Last fall, I created a discussion thread (https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,11575.0.html) about how (or if at all) this rule can be updated. There was no community involvement aside from staff input, so nothing came to fruition.
So, for now, until rules can be established, any title with "Edition," no matter if it is a formal subtitle, is to be formatted this way.

What Would be the best approach to separate these two items?
https://www.ebay.es/itm/154755774998?
https://www.ebay.es/itm/255329969381?
Alternatively is there a name differentiator I could use for each particular style? Normally I already use "- Classics" & "- Classics (Best Sellers)".
Examples of each style:
https://vgcollect.com/item/20160
https://vgcollect.com/item/212889
https://vgcollect.com/item/212983

Personally, I think the entry name formatting you've been using is most ideal.
The second linked item could be titled Assassin's Creed - Classics (Best Sellers) [ES]
The first linked item could be titled Assassin's Creed - Classics (Best Seller) [ES]
212983 could then be updated to be Assassin's Creed - Classics (Best Seller) [IT] <-- no "s" in Descriptor
After quickly glancing through other entries you've submitted, this specific problem of an edition name needing a descriptor seems to be isolated to these specific items. There could be more examples that haven't been submitted, but I imagine them to be far and few between. The current entry name formatting isn't ideal as has been talked about in other threads recently, but it's probably the best solution given our current limitations.

40357 was originally submitted with barcode information for the German release but was later updated to include UK information in other fields. I merged 40357 with 212900 (https://vgcollect.com/item/212900) which nathan776 had previously submitted, as its information was more accurate while already featuring correct artwork.

Generally a TLD isn't necessary unless the same entry name is present in the category (ie. another Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood - Special Edition - Classics (300050165)), but I'm going to assume that the number is also found on other regional discs that are already present in the category. The TLD helps clear any possible confusion in this regard.
Edit: The TLD information from both entries was ultimately removed, so bear that in mind for if other examples like these become known later on.

Not quite sure what the barcode reads on the image back of https://vgcollect.com/item/53941 (So I can't go from info from the original listing) but the barcode/item number provided in 2019 is for a nordic release. Might be worth merging with https://vgcollect.com/item/213953.

https://vgcollect.com/item/6195 exists outside of longbox form. I've tried to search for it but can only find some front cover art which uses the wrong item number. Not sure if I'm just missing it or something. Rating on the listed cover art seems to differ to actual release too.

Not that it means anything at this point, but it looks like according to Game Developer Research Institute (a spin-off site by SMSPower) Atod DID work on the Genesis version of Lawnmower Man, but co-developed it alongside Teque London. http://gdri.smspower.org/wiki/index.php/Atod (http://gdri.smspower.org/wiki/index.php/Atod)
Up to you if you want to add a dev option to have both of them but I'm not sure if this is conclusive enough evidence to support Atod having involvement with the port.

Last year an edit of mine to this version of Wind Waker HD was rejected:
https://vgcollect.com/item/99252
the edit in question was a better quality image of the boxart.
-
Is there any info on:
https://vgcollect.com/item/125489 (Unofficial Release). I can't seem to find any information about this through searching etc. Lens search doesn't match the cover image either. Can't tell if maybe this is meant for a different category or doesn't exist.

Say, I was wondering why my edit to this cover of Wind Waker HD was rejected: https://vgcollect.com/item/99252
The one currently up doesn't look to be very high quality, and while my edit wasn't of the greatest quality either, I thought it still looked sharper than the one currently up, for the lack of a better term.
Your edit was rejected due to the proposed artwork being incorrect—not due to its quality. The artwork you proposed is for an item already within the database located here (https://vgcollect.com/item/157209).
I replied to your initial concern about five months ago (https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,10555.msg191778.html#msg191778). You're more than welcome to provide an edit submission to the entry, and it will be approved if the information provided is correct and admissible.

Hi people,
I've faced this issue a few times before, it has happened quite frequently lately: while editing an item, the system understands that I'm trying to enter redundant information to text fields that are already filled.
Then I get a notification that "my edit" was rejected... the problem is 99% of times, I don't even click on said fields.
Here's an example:

It is marked as unofficial so it is perceived as being a bootleg. Boots can be sometimes hard to verify.

Tried changing #213062 out of "Xbox One Accessory" and into the general Accessory category like it was originally and how it should always have been, but it was rejected. It's the exact same thing as #135822 but in a different color. This is NOT an item made for Xbox specifically, they're just regular headphones with a standard headphone plug. Astro decided to put some giant Xbox lettering on the box just for cosmetic reasons, because there's some green on the headphones and that's Xbox's colour. The box still says that it's compatible with PS4, Switch, Mobile, e.t.c. so it should be in the Accessory category, not Xbox One Accessory. #135822 for instance is the same headphones but in different colours, and it has a big PS4 lettering on it, but it's in the appropriate category, so why shouldn't #213062 be in the same category aswell?

I've brought this to attention before elsewhere. As 213062 is Xbox branded—in spite of the item being compatible with other systems—it is to be placed in the Xbox category. This matter affects many Xbox accessories, including first-party peripherals such as controllers (https://www.ebay.com/itm/255421918583?epid=21035971527). I really don't think users would prefer these items to be placed outside of their branded platform, which is why generic items such as 135822 are placed in Accessory, whereas items such as 213062 are placed in Xbox One Accessory.
-
The presence of the official Xbox logo is what makes it be in the console accessory category.
For 135822 this item has no official logos BUT has a case for being allowed in PS4 accessory category.

These are all valid entries. The community has previously decided (https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,11218.0.html) that pack-in games from games or game packs are permitted only if they have their own packaging. You can find this information in the Platform post (https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,10837.msg178154.html#msg178154) of the Advanced Style Guide.
The front art has been updated for 17376.
Platform
Pack-in Games from Games or individual games from Multi-Packs
Pack-in games from games or individual games from multi-game packs are allowed to have a separate entry if the additional game has its own packaging. Loose games from games or multi-packs are not allowed a loose entry and are considered to be part of the whole entry.
Examples
Dead or Alive Ultimate (https://vgcollect.com/item/214) was released as a box set that includes DOA1 (https://vgcollect.com/item/43007) and DOA2 (https://vgcollect.com/item/32193) in their own cases. These two games from within the game pack are allowed separate entries.
Half-Life Platinum Collection (https://vgcollect.com/item/8440) is a multipack that includes Half-Life, TFC, Opposing Force and Counter-Strike on individual discs with no unique packaging. Entries for these individual discs are not permitted.
Bayonetta 2 (Bonus Bayonetta Game Included) (https://vgcollect.com/item/33978) was released on Wii U and contains an additional disc for Bayonetta in the case. Since this additional disc does not have its own packaging, an entry for the individual disc is not permitted.

Originally, the entry was submitted as ΔV: Rings of Saturn. However, the common name rule applies. On GameFAQs, the game is titled (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/pc/245217-av-rings-of-saturn) AV: Rings of Saturn. Other alt-title readings were provided when the entry was submitted.

The reason your edit submission was rejected was due to that the current entry image features a sealed product. When originally submitted, an image only occupied the front art slot, which is why your other image submissions were approved. From the style guide (https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,10837.msg177804.html#msg177804):
Front/Back art slot image type priority for physical items
We prioritize the best quality image for each slot, however if a better quality image is submitted that is a tier below the existing image (even if the existing image is poor or lesser quality) it will be rejected.
1. Sealed
The number one determination as to whether an item needs a sealed photo is if the item has something unique about it that isn't present on a loose sample.
If such a difference is present, it should be noted in the item Description.
Since Super Rare Games releases are sealed in an outer plastic with a brand label outside it while containing visible additional contents, sealed images will be most ideal for these items. Here is an example Super Rare Games entry with ideal images and details: SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech (https://vgcollect.com/item/169146).
If you're wanting better quality images, it may be best to reach out to the user who originally submitted them for hopes of submitting replacement images. Or, you may try to find quality images online. As far as cropping the current image to re-submit, it can be done and would be approved. However, the quality will immensely drop when re-uploaded since the image size is 200x266 already.
-
Front/Back art slot image type priority for physical items
We prioritize the best quality image [...]
That's debatable.
Images that aren't properly edited or are badly cropped shouldn't be accepted in the first place, and I'm talking specifically for newly made entries. I'd much rather see an entry without a front image than it having one that someone just threw in for the sake of there being one. Don't bother if you're going to half-ass it!
Anyway, I found the original image, including the back, so hopefully they're good enough this time around.

Edit2 : Nvm. Got confused since the box has different age ratings, the game is always the same
I hope this is the right place since it isn't really a rejected edit but a merged new entry.
I created a Xenoblade Chronicles X Wii U bundle version with multiple age ratings. The existing entry only has the PEGI rating. Since there are two different versions, why got one deleted?
On consolevariations you can see both versions. ( https://consolevariations.com/variation/console/nintendo-wii-u-xenoblade-chronicles-x-bundle )
Edit: The PEGI only version got deleted.

Edit: The PEGI only version got deleted.
For the existing Xenoblade Chronicles X (https://vgcollect.com/item/108847) entry and (multiple ratings) entry you created, the information was the exact same aside from the front art slot. At the time, 108847 featured incorrect artwork that only the UK version has.
I lifted the box text information and front art image from the entry you had originally created to 108847.
Also, it's best to not rely on stock imagery such as the image shown on Console Variation's website. In most circumstances, the art is updated and not representative of what actually exists.

Images removed.
We can't re-orientate images. If we were to save the existing ones, fix their orientation and then re-upload them, the images would be blurry due to being resized by the image api on the site. Better to just replace the images.

Just checking about my recent rejects for item descriptors as I'm unsure which area to change. (I think it might be due to me not having a location for the ISBN numbers but I want to be sure).
-
There was one where I thought I had copied the text but my clipboard said otherwise, so I couldn't send a PM. IDK If it was you or not.
But there was an edit where an item number was put into Description but the location of that item number was not included, so it was rejected.
Otherwise, we are still having the issue where special characters are being converted to entity values, and even if a description or box text is edited, if the entities are not replaced to the correct values, the edit will be rejected.
-
Ah, I think I see what you mean. Most descriptions I've ran across have been empty or have full information already so it makes sense why I haven't ran into the issue before. Thank you!

Even though the standard spelling for this game's title (情熱 熱血 アスリーツ 泣き虫 コーチの日記) is indeed Jounetsu Nekketsu Athletes: Nakimushi Coach no Nikki, the final two ideograms (日記) shall be read as "Diary" (ダイアリー) as indicated on both the game's cover and it's title screen.

Therefore, the game's title here on VGCollect should be Jounetsu Nekketsu Athletes: Nakimushi Coach no Diary.

Plenty of game titles are wrong on GameFAQs, but our common name rule dictates that we follow their formatting. Since I regularly contribute information to Japanese game entries to our database, I find myself submitting entry name edits on their site far more than I would like.
I submitted the change on GameFAQs from Nikki to Diary; however, the edit response turnaround rate is anywhere from a few days to two weeks, as it's a large site and they only have one person running the edit submission queue for some reason.

Until the common name source is updated, do not try to edit the name.

I've created a couple of pages for some Mario Kart 7 variants but want to make sure that the additional descriptor on the title is acceptable being that its the art numbers. I've also edited the original listing to be in the same format. Being that there is at least 4 UKV versions of the game with various changes I think it might be the best descriptor to use.

Not sure what to make of this one, whether the picture has to be changed, or the name to be changed.
The naming conventions of this series are hard to wrap my head around.

Hi. New to the site so hello everyone!
Can someone help me? I think this is the right thread.
I've submitted a new image for Desperados III (https://vgcollect.com/item/219127)
This is the UK disc and there is a US version with the same image, but rated M. Does this need to be a new variant?
UK - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175153560473
US - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154532802746
Thanks in advance. Looking forward to using the site a lot more.

Welcome!
Our database already has an entry for the NA version of Desperados III (https://vgcollect.com/item/191344), so unless there is an other version such as an Edition release, regional release (such as from Canada or Mexico), or something that differs a second item from the first such as an item number or cover art difference, a second entry should not be created in the NA category. The same can be said for any item in any category.
As for your edit submission to the EU entry, I do believe I rejected it this past weekend sometime. If I remember correctly, I rejected it due to it being the incorrect box art. Both the existing artwork and submitted artwork by you are outdated stock art designs. There isn't any reason to approve an edit like that.
If you have any other questions as you become acquainted to the site, feel free to post them here.

Hi. For the entry for an EU version, the cover art I submitted is not an outdated stock art, as seen in both eBay links. I have this version in my collection. I am not sure of the name of the edition I have, it is probably the only run in the EU, at least. When I look at eBay, all photos have the cover as https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154532802746. I think I submitted two photos. The first one was the stock art, which I accept your reasoning as to why it was rejected (I did not know it was a stock image) and then the correct image, as per eBay and my own collection.
Should it not be updated to show the correct case, the one that has Mimimi in the corner, and Xbox One at the bottom?
Thanks for your response.

There may be a different reason why the art for the UK entry was rejected. We can't always guess as to why, it is best for you to rehost the image you tried to use on an image hosting site and then post it here in the forum for people to see.

The response above says it was rejected because it was stock box art, which is false. You can see the box art in the two eBay listings above.

That's actually not what I said. The reason for why your edit submission was rejected was based on a vague memory—your submission may have been rejected for another reason. For instance, if the UK eBay photo was submitted exactly, then it may have been rejected because submitted images should be cropped. And this is to say that the photo from the eBay listing was used at all. When viewing edit rejections, a broad reason as to why it was rejected is stated, such as Poor Image Quality and Incorrect Box Art, which will help give insight.
I only remember seeing one edit submission for updating 219127's front art slot.
With that said, I just went ahead and updated the front art image (https://vgcollect.com/item/219127) myself.

Thanks for the information, noted. I think the second edit I made did have the correct box art, which sounds like someone else rejected it. I agree the first image was (I think) stock art, so I understand that. I took that feedback on board and used the correct image, which was then rejected again for Incorrect Box Art, which I found confusing as it matched the eBay listings and my own sealed copy.
Thank you for helping me with this and updating it. Also, is there a way to change time settings for the forum posts etc? I'm in the UK, and the time is incorrect for me. Thanks. :)

With instances like the above in the database, should TLD's be able to used in the same category or should they be replaced with a descriptor? As TLD's shouldn't discern the language on the box of an item I'd assume a descriptor is needed - which should make the TLD's for the latter 2 items irrelevant?

132809 seems to instead be a general Europe release. It's the default version appearing in eBay UK search results (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184808960652). Meanwhile, 132810 seems to be the NL version (https://www.marktplaats.nl/q/7+wonders+of+the+world+ps2/) that may have also been sold in BE (https://www.2dehands.be/q/7+wonders+of+the+world+ps2/). I can only find one example from BE, so we can't quite make a positive assumption yet (even if it's likely true.)
Had both of the items been from the same country, though, then how you provided the entry names above without the TLDs would be correct. They're no different than the Dragon Quest Builders examples I mentioned a couple weeks ago. For entries like these, it's best to detail in the Description field where the item was sold.

Also editing https://vgcollect.com/item/220082 to remove the tld and put it in the description as a descriptor is present. It seems "Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings" has multiple releases for the ps2 with the only immediately obvious discernible difference on the case art being the barcode. I haven't yet checked further for Disc numbers etc. The Uk/English , French, Spanish and German releases all have at least 2 versions - so I'd assume the same is likely with other countries.

Looking for a effective title for Aces Of War. The back image shown on gamefaqs shows German, French and Italian on the background. However solo language French and Italian versions exist and relate to their respective countries. Usually, an item with this combination of languages will either be a general European release like you mentioned, or NL. I didn't have any success either in finding any copies of it online through any regional classifieds, though. If it's added to the database, you may just want to use a descriptor. So, Aces of War (1004310) would suffice until it's determined where this item was sold.

For items that are still upcoming, we should minimize submitting any significant edit changes before they are released.
With this item in particular, artwork changes are common from stock art to the final product. There have been other examples of Xbox One / Xbox Series stock art items being updated to either Xbox One or Xbox Series X when they released as two separate versions or sometimes only one, so this item could very well follow suit. Once the item has released and we can confirm that the item needs re-categorization, that change can be made at that time.
-
Doesn't hurt to move it to that category now.
-
I feel as if I've seen other instances where platform changes for an unreleased item were rejected and put on hold, but perhaps the circumstances were different or I'm mistaken. I'll keep that in mind then.

Changing the title of the above to Antz Extreme Racing (Xplosiv) as it'd match https://vgcollect.com/item/222361 .
Also removing the date as Xplosiv appears to be associated with re-releases (which the disc item number seems to confirm).
Not sure how wide spread Xplosiv releases are with the PS2 and if it should be titled as an edition instead.
-
Xplosiv is typically considered an "edition" on PC releases where they get different packaging. This use of it here in a descriptor seems fine.

Just wanted to give a heads up, I am editing https://vgcollect.com/item/190984 (https://vgcollect.com/item/190984):
Changing "Mode d'emploi" -> "Livret d'instruction" as that is what is written on the actual manual.
Going to ask a nit-picky question: for games that include cards, is there a reason why the set numbers are in the front rather than behind the card names (to be consistent with how we list items numbers for other included items)?
Also because of this, I do need some clarification for how we list manuals in the description as well.
GBA manuals intended for France tend to only use "Mode d'emploi" (sometimes they use "Instruction Booklet" if it's a multi-language manual and in other cases they just list it in multiple languages).
However I have found that ones intended for Canada have more and inconsistent ways of saying Game Manual.
Those include (but may not be limited to):
• Guide d'utilisation
• Livret d'instruction
• Livret d'instructions
• Manual d'instructions
• Manuel d'instructions
• Manuel d'utilisation
• Mode d'emploi
I have to ask then, going forward should I state exactly what is written on the front of the manual rather than stating that it is a manual in English? Or only in cases such as Canadian releases that include 2 separate manuals for 2 different languages? What about cases where they use multiple languages on the front of the manual?

They are put in that way from the work done on here:
https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,11699.0.html
When submitting checklists to TCDB they want the numbers in the front, so they are copypasted in that format into listings. The numbers can be at the end, it doesn't really matter.
I have to ask then, going forward should I state exactly what is written on the front of the manual rather than stating that it is a manual in English?
You can say an game includes a manual, but it is preferred to use the actual text from it on the entry. Sometimes it is easy to verify a manaul is present by looking at pictures but not clear enough to know if it has a non-English name. Also many users just put "manual" in description anyways.

Just to clarify on the edits for the following listing as it looks a bit nutty: https://vgcollect.com/item/54094
A lot of the original info is incorrect (Rating, Picture). Barcode is of a UK version with a bbfc rating and a back item number of PBACKSEN07 (Which seems to be the only differentiator I can immediately see to separate it from another UK version). TLD is needed as a general European release exists.

It is a complicated situation. Gamefaqs does show the publisher of the physical PS5 release to be Perp Games.
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps5/368006-oxide-room-104/data
The back of the case does say specifically "Published by Perpetual-Europe" on the back. As it says on their website "Perp is the publishing arm of Perpetual Europe". There is a perp logo on the back cover of the game also.

With a situation like this, it could be valid to use Perp Games or Perpetual Europe as they are both correct.

I rejected your edit and am glad a conversation ensued. As we've clarified, the box back information states Published by Perpetual-Europe ltd. which is substantially different from Perp Games. For nearly every other entry field, the packaging itself is utilized to gather information aside from Release Date and Description (although the latter, rarely.) It is with this logic that I regularly do the same for Developer and Publisher fields, if possible. For most PlayStation games released in Europe, that information is clearly accessible, such as in this instance, where Perpetual-Europe ltd. is visibly present whereas Perp Games is only present in the game data itself.

From what I've observed, most of the modern Need for Speed titles omit the the use of a colon for subtitles. Titles such as Need for Speed Carbon, Need for Speed Heat, and Need for Speed Payback are all stylized without the colon both on GameFAQs and on EA website pages. The latter is most easily viewed when typing in the name into a search engine.
-
I understand, but that creates an annoying styling double-standard that makes the list of games in our collection look inconsistent and messy.

That may be so, but that's an issue with EA as they're the ones who chose to formally omit the colon. GameFAQs, and therefore VGC, are simply following that established stylization.
This situation reminds me of another franchise which has made the same change. Before, Assassin's Creed titles used a colon (Black Flag, Brotherhood, Revelations), but now do not (Rogue, Syndicate, Unity.)

for information about one edit I do that was rejected (2 actually) :
https://vgcollect.com/item/221298
perpetual europe = perp games, and as I finished the game, it is writed in big in the end credit that it is published by perp games
For most PlayStation games released in Europe, that information is clearly accessible, such as in this instance, where Perpetual-Europe ltd. is visibly present whereas Perp Games is only present in the game data itself.
in fact, perp game and perp game logo is present on the front cover from all their releases, and to the end credit, they use perp games instead of perpetual game
coze perpetual game, perp game, are 2 names for the exact same compagny, and they use commonly perp game and their perp game logo instead of perpetual europe
I have no problem using one name or the other, but the common name remain perp games

Common name exception can be requested here:

But consider that we currently have 2 active polls for other change to Style Guide that haven't received enough traction to act upon. So a vote may not complete as it once did in the past.

I'm not sure why my edit to include what was originally packaged with Strider for NES is getting rejected? https://www.vgcollect.com/item/5593
There are 2 different known content packaging for this game.
Why am I not allowed to include both of them?

When I rejected your edit, I explained via admin comments that 1 entry cannot represent 2 items. If there is a difference in package contents, then a second entry needs to be submitted if you are wanting to publish information for an alternate release.
From your submitted information, one of the two releases included a registration card and poster/advert. If the difference between the two releases is recognized only by package contents and not by any physical differences in the packaging, then an entry name such as Strider (Registration Card) can be used for one of the two entries. If you know which of the two items was released first, that information should be submitted to the existing Strider entry (https://vgcollect.com/item/5593).

Googled pictures of other copies and all I've found with visible spines show BCUS-98280 as well.

I have found one showing a spine and it says what you say.

One thing about this is that it is not a good quality image but it looks to me the back number is 98249 and not 99249.
For whatever the reason is, this game on the various MLs have urls and item numbers redacted and it is from multiple sellers. It is a little weird and makes positive ID impossible for most listings. That one from Argentina was the only one that I could find with something not redacted.
I eventually found this one and has the same back and spine number as you say.

And yeah, when adding photos on ML its moderation might mistake small print text for contact info which isn't allowed to be shared publicly, so sellers cover or blur it just in case.

Shark Tale / DreamWorks Shark Tale
https://vgcollect.com/item/2426
My reason for bringing this up is because the game is not called DreamWorks Shark Tale. While the packaging has the DreamWorks name above the logo, the manuals do not refer to the game as "DreamWorks Shark Tale", unlike a similar game, Disney Epic Mickey. Disney's website used DisneyEpicMickey as their subdomain name for the game, while DreamWorks used 'sharktalethegame' as theirs.
Multiple listings of the game use the "Shark Tale" name on here, such as the PC [NA] release and the Xbox [EU] release.
My suggestion is either change the other listings to what I believe to be the correct name, or change the few that are listed as just "Shark Tale" to "DreamWorks Shark Tale" as per the Common Name Rule.

This is an interesting one I found, I don't own it so I can't say anything for certain but there are a couple good online sources about this. The change I tried to make was to put it in the PS3 demos category. Yes it does say PS2 on the disc however it runs on a PS3 and the item number suggests it's a blu-ray. (BLUD-80018) So it might be a misprint? This list breaks down the item code for PS3 games -- https://www.obscuregamers.com/threads/ps3-not-for-sale-demo-disc-list.2895/ (https://www.obscuregamers.com/threads/ps3-not-for-sale-demo-disc-list.2895/)
And here is a tweet from someone who owns it explaining it is a PS3 game with source photos of it being loaded on the PS3 XMB -- https://twitter.com/Mephistophea/status/977217675012304898
Edit: Also probably worth mentioning, when you put a PS2 disc in a backwards compatible PS3, it won't load up an image or name for the disc, it will just say PlayStation 2 Format Disc, you can see this in this video at 0:49 -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZf3t6RT-XU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZf3t6RT-XU)

Proposed edit: "InterAct Memory Card Storage Case"
Admin comment: "Does this item have the text "Storage Case" present anywhere on the packaging?"
This product is included in individual memory card blister packs and is listed as a "bonus storage case" on the front. Here is a good example https://vgcollect.com/item/133758 (https://vgcollect.com/item/133758)
I actually found out after submitting the listing that it probably wasn't sold separately, so the entry could probably just be removed from the database to reduce clutter. I think it's included in every InterAct blister pack but I can't find enough info to support that statement. It also doesn't specifically include a blue memory card (those should also be sold in blister packs but I can't find any images right now)

I'm not too certain if https://vgcollect.com/item/133678 is a dupe of https://vgcollect.com/item/101479 . I can't seem to find any sealed Uk copies of the game but many of the unsealed ones seem to have an additional sticker suggesting they contain top trumps cards (which would presumably separate it from a Finnish release if it has released in Finland) https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/eLQAAOSwS7ViUXxA/s-l1600.jpg . I'm of the belief that the game may of not released without the sticker in the UK but I don't want to update the UK listing if there is potentially a release without the sticker and cards.
Maybe there is a more obvious solution that i'm just missing :p
-
Dupe merged. Can find no difference between UK and FI release. No additional details were provided and cannot find any on secondary market.
For the Top Trumps label, it seems there is a variation there, it should be added separately as there seems to be releases both with and without that label in UK.

Not certain of best descriptor to use for the above items. All items are library systems 1997-2003 so were likely released relatively close together. I'm assuming the below would be most apt to use but thought I'd check as the descriptors wouldn't be describing the same portion (2 disc item number descriptors, one back item number descriptor).

When doing descriptors for something like this, you want to be using some identifying feature that is different on all of the versions. Since [EU] is the parent, we have to also include the other entries which are already using a descriptor.
1. https://vgcollect.com/item/42317 Burnout 2: Point of Impact - Platinum (Acclaim)
2. https://vgcollect.com/item/57483 Burnout 2: Point of Impact - Platinum (Electronic Arts)

4. https://vgcollect.com/item/227024 Burnout 2: Point of Impact - Platinum [IT]
Finding commonality must include these also. But they should use the things that make them different. So in your example below where you use 2 spine number and 1 back number, this is not ideal. We already see there are 3 different back numbers in the ones you posted, this is a good start but documenting this info will require you to get these numbers for the other versions that are already in the DB.
This is what I propose
1. Burnout 2: Point of Impact - Platinum (Acclaim)
2. Burnout 2: Point of Impact - Platinum (Electronic Arts)
3. Burnout 2: Point of Impact - Platinum (Acclaim) [FR][NL]
4. Burnout 2: Point of Impact - Platinum (Electronic Arts) [IT]
5. Burnout 2: Point of Impact - Platinum (Acclaim / GER)
6.
7. Burnout 2: Point of Impact - Platinum (Acclaim / KAR)
Leaving out 6 because you should try to figure out where that game comes from. Since it has a PEGI label on the cover, it indicates it is an import that was not released in Germany, and you should look at AT and CH sites to see if any show up on there for confirmation. If you can't find any other examples, you can choose to not add the item into the DB (unless you actually own it) and revisit researching it at a later date, or give it a name like so

When I replaced the entry art with personal scans, I submitted the images based on how the SteelBook itself opens, since the actual front cover is the Phantom Thieves design and not the Joker design. Now, upon looking at sealed copies of the game, I'm now realizing that the SteelBook was inserted backwards into the slipcover and sold that way for some reason. I had forgotten since I had opened my copy some time ago.
I've updated the art with a sealed copy which clearly indicates which side is visible alongside its outer seal label.
-
Great, thank you! That is odd, I don't know why like more than half of the copies on ebay have the back of the steelbook inserted to be facing front. I guess people like that side more.
I bought mine sealed from GameStop when it was on sale and it was definitely Joker that was facing forward.

Did you read the admin comments that have been supplied to your edit rejections? The artwork you have supplied to No Man's Sky (https://vgcollect.com/item/221870) is an outdated stock art design—notice the ESRB rating label differences.
Generally, I will approve stock art image submissions prior to an item's release; however, there is no reason why that same artwork should be approved after an item's release, and especially so for an item that has been given a wide retail release.
Also, please refrain from submitting duplicate entries for items already in the database. I've since merged them all with the existing entries.

The cover portion exists, apparently with blue case
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324479478178
But of course this one doesn't have the blank box. It looks like the back art on 182602 is a photo and not edited. Since there is an NFR disc inside it may be a franken-item itself. I can find one instance of the NFR disc from here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/384496959470
But I cannot find a case back with the blank EAN box. This item may have originally had an EAN label there, or something else. Note that the PS hologram is also missing. It could be that the NFR came in this type of cover. At this point I do not think the entry should have its images modified and the item creator should be contacted to determine what it is.
This item may be a true promo, or it could have been an overstock item, or it may have come packaged inside of something else. It is not any of the regular releases, that is for sure. I have changed the descriptor for now, so it should not interfere with any other entries that are made.
A thing to note on these games however:
- most have red case. A sealed blue case one would need to be found in order to make an entry for that. If it turns out there are multiple case colors, then the front/back arts for all of the variations should be showing the case as well and not just the cover insert.
- some have a FireItUp label on the front. Should confirm through pictures of sealed copies whether all came with this or if only some.

Seems to be an amalgamation of a UK Cover and a Nordic item number (Either the not for resale version or separately released version).

The cover portion exists, apparently with blue case

But of course this one doesn't have the blank box. It looks like the back art on 182602 is a photo and not edited. Since there is an NFR disc inside it may be a franken-item itself. I can find one instance of the NFR disc from here:

Appreciate the edit :)
With buzz games, the majority of times red cases are just pack-ins and "not to be sold separately" (But even that seems to be inconsistent in some more rare instances between countries eg. https://vgcollect.com/item/227799 https://vgcollect.com/item/227359 and items such as mega quiz using barcodes for pack in games ). I'll update the description for the items I've submitted with the case colour once the remaining buzz items are complete and try to edit in the cases as much as possible.

The platform for "Eternal Castle Remastered, The" release should be changed to PlayStation 4 [NA] instead of PlayStation 4 [EU] but my edit got rejected.
https://vgcollect.com/item/230524
All Hard Copy games releases are PlayStation 4 [NA] only as can be seen here:
https://videogamesplus.ca/collections/hard-copy-games
Other Hard Copy releases are also listed as PlayStation 4 [NA] in the DB.
Example: https://vgcollect.com/item/191852
-
It is a PSN title in EU and has been changed to that. Crazyfox made a generic entry. GameFaqs only has digital titles and since the physical version is not called The Eternal Castle Remastered (it is clearly just The Eternal Castle) it makes it an easy change.
Physical only has text "[Remastered]" on the back text, not on front or on the spine. So if it is still indeed missing from PS4 [NA], it can be added as Eternal Castle, The with The Eternal Castle Remastered in alt-name field.

It is fine to update the front art slot. Like you're saying, the current art is outdated stock art. When coming across any entry art like this, it is okay to update it. Mods will verify if the information is correct, as with all other edit submissions.

I accidentally uploaded the art to the back cover. I don't see where I could edit/remove that. I did submit an edit to place it on front cover.

This is due to the HTML bug that was affecting entry names that have special characters in them. Even though the issue has since been resolved, any entry that was affected by it needs to be manually corrected.
So, for the item you're reporting, "Pokémon" had glitched to "Pokémon," despite appearing otherwise. Glitched names are only visible when attempting to edit the entry. I've updated the problem entry.

As with most digital platforms, game entry names change over time. Also consider this game was added to steam 10 years ago. You can sometimes tell if a name was changed by using steamdb.info
A famous example is Wreckfest which was on Steam for many years as Next Car Game with a couple other names in between before settling on Wreckfest.
All Steam games should have the app id from the URL added to the Item Number field on the entry so it can be easier to research.

Another point that I'll briefly mention is that release date information for digital platforms such as Steam and GOG may be incorrect too, which the style guide covers.
An example is Doom (1993) (https://store.steampowered.com/app/2280/DOOM_1993/), which has a reported release date on Steam as April 30, 1995. However, its Steam release was actually August 3, 2007 according to steamdb (https://steamdb.info/app/2280/).

So hi. Sorry for the late response.
I submitted this copy in 2020, however I believe that I acquired this copy at a thrift store in 2016/2017? I got it as what is shown on the images, but I'm not sure about it's origin. I have a suspicion that it could be a display copy, as I have a display copy of Death by Degrees (item/176519), which looks similar (Also a find from the same area as my Buzz copy). Given the fact that there used to be a Blockbuster in the same city as where I got this, I wouldn't be surprised if it originally came from there for display purposes.

The entry name for 233459 (https://vgcollect.com/item/233459) was updated in accordance to our community-voted common name rule (https://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,9281.0.html) which has decided to use GameFAQs as our common source. The game's item page (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps4/270167-ninja-jajamaru-the-great-yokai-battle-deluxe-edition/data) presents the game by omitting the "+ Hell" text which is why the VGC entry name was updated as such.
