No plans to buy anything this month. I'll be snagging the three PS Plus games though.... Control Ultimate Edition (PS5), Destruction Allstars (PS5), and Concrete Genie (PS4). God knows when I'll get around to playing them.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon (Steelbook Edition - PS4)
I wasn't originally going to get this on PS4 but the price dripped to £22 and I caved in :P I still have Yakuza 5 & 6 to play so I might keep this and use this to play the PS5 version if I can.

Fahrenheit 15th Anniversary Edition (PS4)
Finally arrived after being delayed since September. Sadly this is the exact same version as the PS2 Emulated version you can buy on PS Store - Even you boot the game up it shows the PS2 logo before starting. I was hoping this would be an enhanced version as the PC got a 'Remastered version. Knowing it is the same as the digital version I have on PS4 I'll keep this sealed.

FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY was able to grab one of 30-series graphics cards tonight after not being able to find any of them or the 6800-series AMD cards since they launched. I live relatively close to a Microcenter store and was stopping by for some soldering supplies. Of course I had to see if they had any 30-series or 6800-series GPUs while I was there, much less any graphics card. If you've been following the GPU market over the past 6-months it's an utter and complete shit show! Supply shortages and distribution issues, out of control demand for gaming and cryptocurrancy, and trade issues have made finding nearly any graphics cards pure hell. But I was completely and utterly shocked when I walked over to their GPU case and saw around a dozen MSI RTX 3070 Gaming Trio X cards in the case! I was speechless.


And for the record the 3070 was not my first choice for a graphics card, hell it's not even my second. I really wanted a 3080 (an Aorus Master specifically) or an AMD 6800XT, but considering you can't even come across any of the 20-series cards right now, beggers really can't be choosers. I was 95% certain I was going to buy one the minute I saw them, but still debated on holding off for one of the cards I really, really wanted. But the combination of the 3070s they had literally being the ONLY GPUs they had in stock combined with two of the 3070s literally selling in the 5-minutes I was thinking about all this pretty much made my mind up and I ended up dropping around $800 on one.


Supposedly Microcenter is getting a shipment in tomorrow morning with possibly some 3080 cards, and I'll be up bright and early to see if that ends up being true, but even if it isn't I am beyond happy to have any 30-series NVIDIA card right now! With that said, I'm going to try my luck tomorrow and probably hold off on opening the 3070 at least for a week in hopes lightening strikes twice and I'm able to get one of the cards I really, really want. But even if I don't I am more than happy with my 3070 :)

Just picked up a new copy of PS4 Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades edition for £25 store credit.

Also recently bought for cash: Valkyria Revolution PS4 (£4), Fade to Silence PS4 (£6), Left Alive PS4 (£6), Daymare 1998 PS4 (£20)

Didn't know anything about Daymare, just noticed it at £13 new on Ebay, left it a few weeks due to having no cash, it bounced back up to £20, which is a sure sign it's going to be a pig to get hold of cheaply down the line. It's pretty enjoyable, like a bargain basement RE 2/3 Remak.

I've started trading yet more stuff in at my favourite game shop, really scraping out my modern games to get rid of anything I don't need, with the intention of picking up a PS5 sooner rather than later. I was going to wait, but the backwards-compatibility swung it for me. The other thing is the 'honeymoon period' for the last two console generations has proven to be short, PS4 exclusives seem to have all but dried up already (except for the limited run type releases), PS4 games are also suddenly very cheap, so we're in that snap em up period before they disappear or jump in value.

Not a video game but a graphic novel/trade paperback. It's video game related so it fits.  :P

Went to HPB to look for a Diary of a Wimpy Kid book for the Godchild for Valentine's Day. They didn't have it in stock so I went to the trades/GN section to oogle at a crossover book they have that I don't want to pay the price they're asking. As I walked into the alcove I noticed some Sonic trade paperbacks that had gotten traded in. They put them up in their glass case and had $30 and up on each of them. They'd be nice to have but I'm not paying those prices either so I went to look at the rest of their selection.

I found more Sonic trades on the shelf and they weren't as pricey as the ones in the case. Only one was $30 and the rest were $15 and under. Then I saw it. A familiar book caught my eye...

My first thought on seeing this was "Why isn't this in the case with the others?" Then I pulled it off the shelf and was literally stunned.

See, this particular book tends to fetch a pretty penny on eBay. To my knowledge, there's two different printings of this book, a white cover and a black cover. AFAIK the collected material is the same in both (though I might be wrong) but regardless, both books tend to list for a couple hundred, as low as $200 upwards to $500. Now, some of that is price gouging and typical eBay chicanery but nonetheless it's always expensive whenever I see it listed.  Also, they published this in other trade paperbacks broken down into three parts, of which I had the first two. The third part is also pricey, commanding upwards of $100 sometimes.

So back to the stunned part. I was fully expecting this to be priced at over $100...closer to $200 and just not put in the case by accident. Nope. It had the insane price of...

$15  :o  ;D  :P

I checked the label to see if someone pulled a fast one and switched the label with another book. Nope...correct label. They REALLY dropped the ball on that one and I'm sooooo glad they did  ;). Needless to say we hurried the rest of our visit and went to pay. I did manage to find the Godchild's DoaWK book down the street at Wal-Mart for cheaper than HPB.com listed it for so that worked out (also found one of those Mario LE Switch consoles at the GS next to Wal-Mart).  ;D

first up some japanese 360 stuff been chipping away towards the full set pretty sure i'm over half way now, i tend to pick up these limited editions here and there whenever i find em for cheap.  :

I personally think auto modellista is the rarest japanese xbox out there, been looking for a copy for over a year and a half. Last month a sealed one pops upon yahoo japan for 30 bucks , quite pleased getting it for that price.

My birthday gifts arrived days later but they are finally here, managed to get at eBay a copy of Animal Crossing City Folk for only 10 bucks, believe it or not it even came with the ticket of purchase from EB Games, at Mercado Libre was able to find Bravely Default and Bravely Second for a very good price, the seller had both of them in a bundle for only 40 bucks and for what I have seen people is asking more than that just for the first game, also went to another First Cash and found Mario Tennis Open as well Project x Zone each one for only five bucks  ;D

I feel like this month for me has wrapped up the end of an era for collecting new still sealed Nintendo 3DS games at clearance prices from big box stores. I've driven to at least a dozen Wal-Mart Supercenters around my area this month and grabbed what were essentially any of those stores' last remaining 3DS stock, both to round out my personal collection and to grab multiple copies of games going for dirt cheap to hold onto.

Most of these stores still have a fair number of copies of games like Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario Kart 7, Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome Amiibo, Pokemon UltraSun/UltraMoon, all of which are still being sold for their full retail price. The Nintendo Selects reprints of Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D were also very common, but over the course of this month I've seen both of those titles, especially OoT, beginning to disappear from the shelves. As much as I'd like to buy up every copy of said games, at $19.99 a pop (and $32.99 for Pokemon, booooo), I just don't have that kind of money to spend right now to buy those extra copies.

I did have the money however to grab multiple copies of some titles that were heavily marked down. Seeing as how I look back at the times I could have done this, say, with the dozens of new copies I saw of Drill Dozer on the GBA going for $4.99 each at a Target in 2008, I found this to be my chance to potentially "cash out big" 15-20 years from now when these titles will be sought after from collectors. I know it's gonna be a very, very long wait until that day comes, but I'm sorry that I neglected buying anything for the 3DS all these years and wasn't able to magically stumble upon cheap copies of Xenoblade Chronicles and Radiant Historia!

Of course I'll continue to look for good deals on 3DS games online probably for years to come, but snagging these titles for cheap and new before they disappear from big box stores forever felt like this was one of the last times I'd be hunting for clearance Nintendo titles in person. Physical copies are on the way out, or least most titles won't be produced in huge numbers anymore and will only be available to purchase physically mail-order or online. I anticipate that the *last* time I or anybody will be able to go in-person hunting for reduced price new physical Nintendo games will be when all the Switch stock gets phased out from these same stores in 2-3 years from now.
