Hey all. Max and I are both playing Diablo III (though not currently grouping due to massive level difference), anyway. We were talking about getting with the other VGC folks for co op eventually. So anyone that wants to play let us know how to find you in game so we can party, and/or pass around loots.
My Battletag is: Spazmet#1962

Madmax#1769
Just finished normal mode :)
-
Just picked it up yesterday so I'm still a lowbie but mine is Varkias#1840
-
I'm like level 14 or something. Just started act ii.
-
oh ok, I'm sitting at 13 or 14. A little ways into Act II, I just recovered the sword.
-
Unfortunately, I won't be able to play again until next Tuesday. Since I won't have access to my desktop and my laptop is lolfail at playing anything newer... :'(
-
Just finished nightmare 2 days ago. Exams are over now so I can dedicate a lot more time to D3 :D
-
This thread makes me sad. Ha
Seems like I haven't had time for a whole lot of gaming lately.
-
I got LvL 60 today, found some good weapons for cheap. I deal 16k DPS now xD
-
Probably still under lvl 10 right now, but here I am! deso#1279
I think my friend bought me the game just because he wanted someone to play with that he actually knew. Score!
-
Cool, I sent invites to both varkias and desocietas now. See you in game.
-
Hit level 26, I think, and the start of Act III normal. Hopefully I'll catch up to Max and we can get some end game grinding on.

I'll need to catch up. Lvl 20 now, but only at the beginning of Act II. Scott, you keep catching me when I'm afk or my computer is acting up! :-[
-
That's alright. My gaming time is becoming limited lately, so you'll catch me no problem, ha. You can thank the new GF for that.

Cue audience track:
OOOOooooooooh!

yeah, I'm at the point where i need to farm for new gear. I can't beat Inferno act 1.
It's all about getting good gear with "all resist" at that point. It's hard to find good deals on those, everyone is buying them.
-
Cool sounds good, My monk is at the end of act II in Nightmare atm and I started a Witch Doctor.
-
Just finished normal mode tonight and just did a few of the starting quests in nightmare. I'm like lvl 32 now.

Did the gems help any?
-
I believe so, I didn't die except that one time I told you and that was from trying different abilities.
-
Tried out the "There is no cow level" level last night, it was pretty fun!
-
Ya I saw you got Wirts Cowbell before I logged. I'll need to hunt those items down next time I play.
-

I played that in Hell mode. It was equivalent to inferno mode creatures. It was really tough.
Just beat inferno ACT 1. I can't get very far in ACT 2 though. The jump in difficulty is pretty steep. I've found a nice area to farm and I have +200% Gold Find gear. I guess I'm going to be farming for a little while.
-
Yeah I heard that its equivalent to late act iv of the difficulty more you're playing on
-
Huh blizzard are quick, my farm spot was nerfed. hehe Ohh well.
-
Huge exploit, gold duping and stealing.
They're probably going to roll back but the economy and the games rep is gonna take a hit.
The D3 launch is getting worse everyday :/
-
Oh, did you see that there's cheated items too? I saw this picture of The Grandfather (a legendary sword) that, instead of having its usual 620 DPS, had 6980 DPS.
I wonder how they're expecting to launch the Real Money Auction House if they're not fixing any problems in the game and instead just nerfing things people use :P
-
Yeah, I saw a mage the other day doing something like 240k dps. Lots to fix...
-
Hm, glad I haven't been playing for the last few days. The rage on the Blizzard pages is insane!
Addendum: Bam! http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5740846683
"several thousand"... whoa
-
Wow, I didn't realize it was THAT bad. Good news!
-
I just started a witch Doctor, all the pets are really fun to play around with :) Almost level 10.
After a few of my auctions sell, I'll be able to gear up my Barb for act 2 inferno. Unfortunately my build revolved around attack speed and they are nerfing it by about 50% :/
-
ah, that's bad news for my monk too
-
Blizzard seriously need to stop nerfing stuff. I can't even survive Act 2 Inferno with my Demon Hunter anymore... Right now all I can attempt to do is stacking defense and resistance to be able to stand more than a single hit from the first couple enemies in the act (I have 38k HP, and I'm getting hit for 69k of damage, winning!), but I'd like to not do that because I'm quite liking my 18k DPS (though I won't say no to a better crossbow).
In other news, I got my very first Set Item (by breaking a rock in Act 1 on Inferno!), so, since it's better than any other I've seen on the RMAH, I figured I'd attempt to see if people actually spend completely insane amounts of actual money on items on the thing... Might as well, though I'm guessing not.
-
Finally beat the game tonight with my friend, so moving on to later difficulties and better gear.
Time to start grinding and collecting resources.

Nice! I'll have to keep my eyes peeled. And yeah, give the RMAH a try; I've just been throwing random things in there to see if anyone will bite. Doesn't hurt!

You should probably be working towards a glass cannon, its the only really viable Demon hunter build for inferno right now.
My barb has 38k HP
20k DPS (unbuffed)
300+ all resist
7000 armour and I am getting owned in act 2 inferno. I am supposed to be tanking the hits.
My buddy's Demon hunter does 70k DPS unbuffed
only has 3000 armour
Lots of Dex,
Very little vit
No all resist gear
He's beaten the game with "ease". He just cant get hit too much

That's sort of what I was trying to get to at first (though frankly my DPS isn't anywhere near 70k yet, I'm only at 20k), but the smokescreen getting nerfed means that I'll inevitably get hit no matter what.

Do you know what kind of attacks he's got set up? Stuff to slow down enemies or more of the hard hitting abilities to kite?

Yeah, I am thinking my problem may partly be my skill set-up that might not be good for inferno.
I go: Smokescreen, ferret companions (for the extra gold), Marked for Death and Rain of vengeance (with the homing rune), and on the mouse I use the Bola Shot (with wider explosion rune) and Impale (with stunning rune, which may not be a good idea anymore).

Hungering arrow : Devouring Arrow
Elemental Arrow : Nether Tentacles
Smoke Screen : Lingering Fog
Vault : Tumble
Caltrops : Torturous Ground
Preparation : Backup Plan
Steady Aim
Hot pursuit

1.0.3 patch coming out in a few hours.
Notably in the patch is attack speed nerf and an inferno nerf.
Gems and crafting are going to go down in price as well whereas equip repair is going to shoot up in price dramatically.
-
Happy to see crafting prices going down, they were rather ridiculous... but why raise the repair prices?
-
People (barbs and monks) were zerging mobs.
Basically they were bringing mobs to a waypoint and then just fighting the mob (and dying) until the mob died.
It's upsetting because the melee classes are the hardest to play right now and this really favours ranged classes as they can kite all day long.
-
The new patches are awesome! I logged out on my 46 monk about 2 months ago with 8k HP and logged back in Friday with about 20k. I'm about to start the new Paragon levels. Hit 52 and discovered there are weapons with "level requirement reduced by 8" and spent 500k gold on two level 60 items. My dps jumped from 1900 to over 21000, I'm flying through Hell mode now and excited for Inferno. Now level 55 with about 36k hp, and gold is finally rolling in. Melee is back!
-
I may have to look into Diablo 3 again, if the new patches are so good. I know I was having a tough time once I got to Hell and it was so ridiculous that it just became completely un-fun.
-
The patch does sound pretty good. It makes a lot of old skills a lot more useful by basically increasing their damage output by a lot... and the fact that you can level up after level 60 is pretty cool. I'm gonna look into it soon to see if my demon hunter is better now.
-
A friend and I are flying through Hell difficulty right now as demon hunter and witch. It was a little slow going, but we gave in and bought a higher-powered weapon for each of us at the auction house (not real money) at reasonable prices, and it helped a lot.
And with the patch, we're starting to make money again instead of losing it every time we played (due to repairs).
-
I've started to invest in survivability with Inferno mode right around the corner. Lots of armor, resist and Life on Hit. I was able to solo some blues last night in a 4 player game in Hell act III. My DPS has stayed about the same, but the new gear has made a huge difference. Hit level 59 last night, hopefully Inferno and some Paragon levels tonight.
-
Saw you online, Varkias, getting your cheevos ;)
A friend and I both hit our first Paragon level yesterday and he had an awesome time with the magic/gold find boon with every elite group defeated. We weren't expecting that.
Immediately after the patch, Scott, we did notice a nice difference in the amount of loot dropped (especially environmental), so that puts the exploration back into the mix, thankfully.
-
Grats on 60! I'll have to hit ya up for some farming soon :D
-

Thanks! For sure - farming for equips is always good; you'll be at 60 in no time. Didn't really take us that long. Getting from 60 to 61, however...
-
100 more levels to go xD
-
100 more levels to go xD
Lol seriously
-
I was pretty surprised at how long it took to hit 60+1. I was chatting with this 140k dps Demon Hunter yesterday and he sent about 2 million worth of tanking gear to me. I was having trouble with some mobs before in ACT I, but now I can face tank anything it seems. Standing in fire, poison, whatever and my health barely moves. I'm at about 600 resist all and 1400 Life on Hit. Going to try Act II tonight.
-
Nice! My friend and I delved into Act I Inferno last night, and the blues and yellows - if they have the right magic - will one-shot us over and over again... Not the most fun sometimes.
-
Depending on how much work i get done painting up the minis in Super Dungeon Explore, I may load up some Diablo III tonight. I think I'm low 50s (Can't remember), but all this talk of buffs and patches has me interested.
-
I've got over 1000 all resist on my barb. I'm in act 3 inferno (about to go against azmodan). If the right enemy attacks me, I will die in no time :P (also have 1000 dps weapon with around 900 life on hit and tons of IAS).
Act 1 is a breeze though. That's where I farm cause I cant die :P
-
I think all the Diablo talk should be in a private conversation so I dont read it and get jealous! I simply can not indulge myself into another online game. :( I have no control when I play them and I end up with every waking moment online.

I know the feeling, I've been there.

Everquest owned me from May 1999 to June 2010 ... was horrible to break away ... I did for a year then I started playing DDO. It was different than EQ but it had a fun feel to it at first (as well as I met a cool person to hang out with and quest with) and I added another 8-9 months to that game. I have a bad habit of falling into MMOs hard though. Once I start, I simply can not stop. I log in when I wake up and dont stop til its bed time. I averaged 12 hours a day for the first 3 years of EQ ... thats absurd even to myself. I just dont know how to not do it. I actually had planned to play Diablo but my friend backed out so I ended up cancelling my pre-order.
-

Probably for the best - I don't know if I ever would've really gotten into the game if I didn't have a good friend playing alongside me from the start.
-
It was definitely for the best. While I would have loved playing with him (we have beaten all the co-op games like Baldur's gate and champions of norrath together) its probably better for both of us to not play a game like Diablo together anymore. :P
-
Hit paragon level 2 today, I wish all of my previous grinding had gone towards this xD
The paragon levels are nice, nice little stat boosts, when someone hits lvl 160, they are gonna be really overpowered, even with bad gear.
-
I'm loving the 3% gold and item finding per Paragon level!
-
It's getting tough again, I'm stuck on Ghom in act III inferno now. I have not had any good sellable drops yet, the best so far was worth 250k... And with gear upgrades costing 20M+ it's going to take awhile. I wish there was a little less complete garbage that dropped. I'll gather up about 50 rares before I identify and 1-2 will be worth selling... I need some loot luck! A friend of mine found a legendary in act III hell mode, it was a ring with a chance to summon a treasure goblin. Sold it for 16M... that's the kind of luck I need! Anyone acquire any really high end loot yet?

I've only found 1 orange (legendary?) item so far, but that was before Paragon level (maybe only during the second level of difficulty). Haven't found anything from any of those lvl 60+ sets yet.
Can't get pass the skeleton king in Inferno, so it looks like I need to go back and grind for a bit.
-
I think I only found 1 Legendary and it was a low level pair of Mage gloves, actually it was called Magefist. I haven't played in so long, I can't even tell you what level I am, other than I was in the middle of Act 1 - Hell. haha
-
I found 1 legendary recently but it was only worth 150000 gold :(
-
Today I found out I was playing my Demon Hunter wrong. Turns out going with 2 1-hand crossbows is better than a 2-hand crossbow and a quiver.
Adding an emerald in each, despite the lower base DPS, made my overall damage output go a lot higher due to big increase in crits. Impale (where I throw a knife) goes above 100k if I crit with it now :P
I guess it's good to look around how others are playing a class from time to time :P
-
I guess it's good to look around how others are playing a class from time to time :P
I've been doing a lot of that lately, some of it helpful and some not-so-much. Trying a ton of different builds, but it gets expensive!
-
Like I said in the Currently Playing thread. I started up D3 again and my group of 3 just hit the end of Act 1 Normal. We're planning on playing through the game together with these toons and are currently hovering around the level 17-18 mark.
I wish I had picked the Wizard from the get go though. I'm really liking this class.
-
Hate to bump this up but with the PS3/4 release of this game eventually and the fact that http://rpgfan.com/news/2013/1128.html looks good, Im wondering what this game is like. Is it possible to get a full game experience without online? Would it be worth it for me to get it considering the PC version has been out for a while now and is there any indication that the systems intertwine? I played EQ and EQonline (the PS2 game) and they are nothing alike, no interaction between the two, and the PS2 game absolutely fucking sucks compared to the original EQ.
-
Well you HAVE to be online in order to play. But you can play through the game solo. I did that w/ my Demon Hunter and enjoyed it, but later I made a Wizard to run in a group and had a blast with it in multiplayer.
Personally, I'd just go with the PC version of the game. But I'm bias, because I played Diablo 1 on PS1 and HATED it compared to the proper PC version of the game.
-
Well, to be honest, Diablo 1 on PS1 absolutely sucks. I bought it a little while back as another hack and slash for my friend and I. We started it up and after a couple of minutes, we both looked at each other and said it sucks and turned it off.
While I would play the PC version, it would turn into a household nightmare. The PC always has someone on it and if Im gaming on it, I would hear a lot of bitching.
-
I saw a headline yesterday saying the Playstation version won't require online connectivity to play...?
-
I am a huge Blizzard fan. But they have never made the jump to console well. Even when they were a "console" developer, their games were not amazing. Blackthorne? Justice League Task Force? Lost Vikings was decent. But something about the company's gameplay is perfect for PC.
Basically, PC or nothing for Blizzard games.
-
I saw a headline yesterday saying the Playstation version won't require online connectivity to play...?
Only, if you're online with a PS3 already, you're automatically "online".
-
Well, hopefully PSN has a demo so I can check it out before hand.
