What are you guys playing right now?
I'm playing heaping doses of Radiant Silvergun, Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles (Original version of Rondo, not the 2.5d remake) and Champions Online, ocassionally, and I started Final Fantasy X again...
-
I've been trying to play Disgaea 4 all week but haven't been able to find much time. I plan on remedying that by having a hardcore gaming marathon this weekend.
-
Deus Ex: I'm mostly doing sidemissions to get more augmentations. a little annoyed I've had to upgrade hacking so much
FFIV: at the metal giant. almost done!
-
Disgaea 4! and Disgaea 4! ... I'm technically still playing Deus Ex Human Revolution... but sadly/thankfully I got Disgaea 4 so that's getting all my attention. I also try to get some time for Bloodrayne Betrayal and Renegade Ops, and there's ALWAYS time for Star Fox 64 3D (I finished it once a day since I got it :P).
-
Heh, I'm playing Picross 3D. I needed a break from RPGs but have some titles in mind for once I'm done with this one. Can't focus on RPGs right now because things are hectic in the rest of my life.
-
I'm playing Tactics Ogre for PSP (Completed, doing the extras), Landstalker and Panzer Dragoon Saga.
@climhazard: @Jobocan: How are you liking Disgaea 4? How does it compare to 1 and 2?
-
@varkias
I'm about 4 chapters in and so far I'm really enjoying it. They expanded on a few concepts they introduced in 3 so if you haven't played 3 they might seem a little weird at first.
The story is good and sprinkled with NIS's trademark humor. By far my favorite thing is the upgraded character sprites. All the sprites are now in HD and look fantastic (you can switch back to the classic low res sprites if you prefer the old style). They also added a few online features like custom maps and other things but I haven't messed with them much, I'll save that for the post game.
-
@varkias
I really like it. It's a very solid game. I'm only up to Chapter 9 now (I say "only" because I plan to delve into the post-game stuff more than in 3) but the battles have been fairly challenging since I haven't been over-leveling and a lot of them aren't just based on brute strength (though that's still an option, this is Disgaea after all). I'm not up to the post-game stuff yet though so I can't comment on that. The story is quite fun, the characters are pretty interesting (though Desco annoys me a bit) and the interactions and humor are what you'd expect from NIS. The network options seem interesting. The Cam-pain map is also quite fun to play around with since you have a good amount of options due to the evil symbols. So far, I truly think this has the potential to be my favorite Disgaea... we'll see.
The much better graphics are just the icing on an already awesome cake.
-
Honestly, I haven't been playing much besides Minecraft (abandoned mine shafts don't explore themselves!) and Devil Survivor: Overclocked.
And I own the first two Disgaea games but have never played one. I know they are time consuming and they just repeatedly get put on the back burner. Am I missing tons?

How're you liking Overclocked? Wondering if it's worth it since I have the DS version...
-

They're really good if you're a fan of SRPGs and they aren't really that time consuming if you're just playing through the main story line, at least no more that many other RPGs, I'd say 30-50 hours on average. It's really only when you get into all the extra stuff that it becomes a real time sink.
-
@desocietas: I'm loving it, but I had gotten Strange Journey right about the time the DS Devil Survivor came out, so I skipped it. Therefore, it's all new to me. However, a friend of mine is even more into the SMT games than I am and he has both. He says the extra voice acting is really doing it for him, so I don't know.
@climhazard: I'm a completionist, so I WOULD be doing the extra stuff. I'll have to just take a weekend and get started. I picked them up for $10 a piece, so it's not like I'm going to easily find them cheaper down the line. (^_^)
And as an update, I sat down tonight and played like 4 hours of Cubivore. I forgot how zany and just enjoyable that game is.

Thanks for the info, @amauriel! Yeah, I think I logged a lot more time into Strange Journey than I did into the DS Devil Survivor, so I pretty much skipped it as well. It's receiving excellent reviews, unlike Persona 2: Innocent Sin :\ I guess I'll see how P2:IS goes for me, and if it doesn't satisfy, I'll look into getting Overclocked.
-
Dragon Age Origins, Ys Book II and Dracula X chi no rondo.
-
Tararuuto Magical Kun: Fantastic World for the Famicom. Great game. Full of quirky Japanese Anime-ness, which I'm not big on AT ALL, but once I got passed it, the game significantly grew on me. Definitely worth every cent of $10 and more.
-
Fallout 3 (PC) (need to add the CE to the db..), I have to say that the game is quite fun. I had no idea what to expect, and since I bought the game on an impulse I was kind of scared. But so far, so good.
FFXIV is the other one, but I haven't played that much lately. I'm waiting for the next patch to rekindle my addiction.
-
Fallout 3 is one of my all time favorites. Bethesda did an excellent job in keeping true to the atmosphere of the series too.
How is FFXIV? I've heard a lot of bad things about it.
-

Right now, way better than when it was released. It still has it flaws, and in some aspects it still feels like a beta but it's pretty fun IMO. Also, the in-game community is great, it does have it's trolls and whiners but what game doesn't :P
It doesn't hurt that they're still not charging to play (most likely they'll begin charging with the PS3 release)
-
Playing Persona 2: Innocent Sin right now... Despite the mediocre reviews (http://www.metacritic.com/game/psp/shin-megami-tensei-persona-2---innocent-sin/critic-reviews), I'm digging it and have a hard time putting it down. A lot of what the critics are saying seem to be more representative of how I felt about P1. I'm sure it's not for everyone, but, as a big fan of the Persona series, I'm liking it. The remixed soundtrack is pretty good, too.
-
@kaizlu sweet, I heard how terribly broken it was and being a former FFXI player, I was saddened. If they are working to fix it, I may have to give it a try. How does it control on PC? Because if I remember, FFXI on PC was a pain in the ass, you could obviously tell it was meant to be played on PS2 instead.
@desocietas all this Persona talk is only working to fuel my need to try this series.... I should look for a decently priced copy of P3.
I'm currently achievement hunting on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, some of them are a total pain. I'm also going to be starting up Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood multiplayer again soon and working toward finishing it's single player campaign before AC: Revelations launches...
-
I'm currently achievement hunting on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Do you use a guide/gamefaqs for your achievement hunts?
-
I track my achievements on True Achievements, they have user submitted guides set up there, but I only use them if I'm completely stuck. There are also folks on TA that "boost" which is teaming up to complete achievements in multiplayer while taking turns. I've only done this once and it was for Sonic the Hedgehog 2's multiplayer achievement, since no one plays it online, ever.
Whether or not I use a guide/ faq depends on the achievements I suppose. Castlevania's are pretty self explanatory. Though I did have some problem last night with one and had to look up a youtube video on the proper route to take. That one you needed to destroy 100 items in a limited amount of time. I kept running out of time or not finding all the breakable items in the area. Took me about 2 hours to finish even after watching the video, there are prolly 102-105 items in the area and if you miss some on the route, you're screwed.
Most "gather x number of items" achievements I'll find a map for now a days... I tried for a year to gather the flags in Assassin's Creed without help and then after tons of frustration, I used a map that came in the official strategy guide, along with a website that showed up close shots of what you should be looking for. If I decide to 100% Crackdown I'll definitely be using a map for all the stupid orbs hidden in that game. I'm not sure I consider maps for item gathering chieves cheating. Since I'm still spending all the time and effort collecting them, plus the maps aren't 100% accurate anyway. ha
Multiplayer achievements are bitch though, and I mostly hate playing multiplayer matches. Though I do enjoy AC: Brotherhood's cat and mouse style mutliplayer game. I still need to do the 2 multiplayer Castle Crashers achievements, but finding ranked games in that is hard anymore.

The game is playable with Keyboard + Mouse (that's how I play), but it's easier to use a controller. The good news is that the dev team is supposedly working on a separate UI design to be more KB+M friendly. I would suggest waiting for the PS3 release if you don't want to be disappointed, or if you have some spare change you can give it a try but think of it as a glorified beta.
-
I'm trying to finish the General Knoxx DLC for Borderlands (on PC) but the stupid design decision made by the dev to not have fast travel in the DLC is pissing me off. You want me to spend ten minutes driving all the way to the last area every time I begin? WHY? What the hell was wrong with fast travel or saving in an area to continue later?!
Ugh. It couldn't have been any easier for console players either...
-

Oh I KNOW. That pissed me off to no avail. Its one of the reasons I haven't finished the achievements for it. Driving from mission to mission is a pain, even with Scooter's fastest car.

Hm, good to know... @sedaris and I were looking into doing all the DLC stuff at some point, so that'll be something to consider when we get to General Knoxx.
-
If you're planning on going through the last mission in one shot it's fine, but if you're like me and have to stop playing for one reason or another, it SUCKS.
-
Still working on the Achievements for Lords of Shadow. But now that October is here I have a huge urge to play some Deathsmiles! I'm pretty sure it won't leave my disc tray anytime soon.
-
Just started Driver: San Fran. Good fun so far. it's a pretty neat concept they have going on. I really needed a car game and I was a midtown madness 2 junkie when i was a kid (I made cars and entire cities for it) so having another car game in san fran is just awesome :D
-
Started up Dragon Age: Origins again, such a good game.
-
Decided to marathon Oblivion and finally finish the game before I get my copy of Skyrim on the 11th. So far I've become the master of ever guild and the champion of the arena. I still have 1/2 the main quest to go and then on to the Shivering Isles dlc. 12 days and counting!
-
Taking a break from Skyrim to revisit some old PC gaming and installed Diablo and Diablo II onto my PC. Can't wait for Diablo III!
-
Skyrim and Starcraft 2. I have L.A Noire waiting but not installed too :/
-
I decided to try to one-man Borderlands Claptrap Revolution.
I got bored after the first mission and quit. Heh. Um.
-
@Foxhack I've just got to kill the final boss of that dlc, its the only one that has given me any trouble while playing solo.
-
Thought I would revive this thread, ;D Just wondering what others are playing.
Last couple of days I've been playing James Noir's Hollywood Crimes on N3DS.
-
I'm playing Golden Sun on my Game Boy Micro and still putting in some time with Star Wars: The Old Republic, but really not that much.
-
@scott: Now that Legacy is out, I've been playing SWTOR more again. It really is a great game, but MMORPGs are so time consuming.
-
I just finished clearing the single player mode for Batman: Arkham Asylum on PC on Normal. All Riddler Trophies, all Arkham Chronicles, and I only used an FAQ to figure out how to get up to a certain place. The game's awesome, unfortunately now I have to do the challenges so I can 100% the achievements, and boy is that not going to happen anytime soon, haha.
I also spent last night clearing New Game Plus mode on Bastion (PC) so I could get the rest of the story achievements I was missing. The only ones I'm missing are the "Clear dreams with shrine idols invoked" ones and the Score Attack one.
-
Chrono Trigger for SNES. I borrowed it from a friend about a year ago, and finally got around to it last week.
-
I have been splitting my time between Golden Sun for the GBAand Henry Hatsworth for the DS.
Henry is an interesting blend of platfomer and a puzzler. So far I have become pretty addicted to it.

I've been meaning to pick up Henry Hatsworth... Was pretty cheap last time I checked.

It is a pretty addictive game. It's strange how they make it work; you're esstentially playing a sidescrolling platformer and a puzzle game simultaneously (one on each screen). It's something that couldn't really be done on anything other than the DS.
It gets extremely difficult though. I actually haven't finished it yet.

I heard about how hard it was first but the design sounded so unusual that I really wanted it. So far it's not too bad but I can see how intense it will get.
-
The dual-screen gameplay reminds me a bit of The World Ends with You or Monster Tale... definitely something you can't pull off with any other system really.
Glad developers are still trying to utilize that functionality! @jcalder8 it does get tricky at times (it took me forever to get a grasp on TWEWY) but it's extremely satisfying once you get a hang of it... if ever :\

Well I beat Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance last night. Cleared 194ish percent of the castle (according to the save file), level 45. It took me just under 8 hours to beat. One question to you die hard Castlevania fans out there, what is the purpose of the room that I collected artifacts for? I'm sure I'm missing one or two and I really want to know without having to go hunting anymore.
The game was fun but the story was...lacking. Also, I'm not 100% sure I like the Metroid-vania style. It's okay but I really got tired of traveling through the same locations over and over again.
I think I'm going to start on Aria of Sorrow tonight.
-
I'm not sure what the purpose of the room is, other than to show of collected goods. Personally I didn't care much for Harmony of Dissonance and never finished it. Aria of Sorrow is one of my all time favorites, along with it's direct sequel Dawn of Sorrow. I'd say out of the 3 GBA Castlevania games, it's the best of them. Especially when you start playing around with Soul combos.
Some of the Metroidvania style games do feel a bit cookie cutter though, but out of them all, I'd say the best are Aria, Dawn, Ecclesia and Symphony (natch). Ecclesia starts out tough as nails too and when I first got it I didn't get very far. But I went back to it and played all the way through in a few days and was very pleased with it.
-
Cool. Glad to hear that the others are a bit better. I played about an hour worth of Aria tonight and I'm enjoying if much more than Dissonance. Great, now I'm going to have to get all of the others on the DS :)
-
Once i finish Assassin's Creed:Revelations. i'm picking up Batman: Arkham City :D
-
Playing KOTOR on Xbox. Had it forever, only recently started playing it. I'm on Tatooine after having punked the Sith on Korriban (I'm Light Side).
-
Xenoblade Chronicles! I hit the 4 hour mark last night and got through the event that officially starts your adventure. And it was... so goood. Some of the unique monsters I've fought so far have been pretty brutal, and I've died a bunch of times to one Caterpile mob on the way to a story point. I really can't wait to see where the story goes.
Also, Dunban is a certified bad ass.

I think once I have a little surplus of money, I'll be getting a Wii and a copy of Xenoblade. Sounds pretty awesome!

I may know someone who is thinking of selling off their wii.

Will do. Its my folk's wii and my mom hems and haws as to if she wants to keep it or not. So I really have no idea if she is serious or not.

Well, let her know I'd be willing to trade an unframed drawing for it or something. perhaps she has a treasured photograph of you she'd like immortalized forever? *laughs*
-
ha, I think she'd be looking for cash. Also, I'm pretty sure if she wanted a drawing of me, she's ask me to do it. ;)

Good point - you got me there!
Well, there's certainly no rush. I'm not actively looking, but hey, if the offer comes across the table, awesome.
-
Still putting time into Henry Hatsworth but I'm also starting Deus Ex for the 360. I've never played the original so I'm looking forward to checking this one out.
-
Playing Rochard at the moment. Pretty awesome game, but man those achievements are going to be the end of me. There's one where you have to beat the game in three hours or so, and I barely got past the halfway point... with three hours clocked in the game.
-
I started playing minecraft. Really enjoying it, but I am horrible at it...
-
I started playing minecraft. Really enjoying it, but I am horrible at it...
I tried to play it a couple years ago and I was horrible at it and I didn't enjoy it, but that's just me. I also have never liked playing with lego so I wasn't too surprised that I didn't like it.
-
So after going through Half-Life 2 on PC to get all the achievements I didn't get the first time around (the 360 achievements were added in a patch a few years ago), and only missing two, I decided to play through Half-Life 2 Episode One. I'm trying to get "The One Free Bullet", and it's really hard relying on Alyx to take out most of the enemies. Thank $deity she appears to have an infinite life gauge.
-
I really need to finish Half-Life 2 and it's episodes...
-
12 achievements out of 13... in ONE PLAYTHROUGH (http://steamcommunity.com/id/Foxhack/stats/HL2:EP1).
And god damn, Citizen Escort was a pain to get.
-
I recently rented the new Splatterhouse from Blockbuster and I'm actually really enjoying it. While it's far from perfect, with awful load times and some really frustrating platforming sections, I really admire the love that went into making the game fun for long time Splatterhouse fans. The voice acting is also fantastic and the writing is crude, but well-done. It also comes with unlockable Splatterhouse 1-3, which are a little pricey to collect.
I'll definitely pick it up someday when I find a good deal on it.

w00! Someone else who played the new Splatterhouse! Love that game. The combat is brutal but actually fun and can't be won by simple button-mashing, I love the voice acting (especially the Mask... voiced by Jim Cummings (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Cummings)... he voiced so much stuff you're bound to have heard him at some point) and the fact that this one actually develops the story and characters further than the original games is fantastic. It does have flaws but frankly I think the overall fun factor more than makes up for it. The only really big problem is the loading times, and that can be countered by not dying :P
As for finding a good deal, I think it's already pretty easy to find for 10-15$. I personally bought it late last year for about 20$ new.
-
Got the 3DS version of Tales of the Abyss from Gamefly and was surprised that there is some 3D in it. I thought I'd read some player reviews that mentioned that the 3DS version didn't have 3D, thus no need for it to be on the 3DS.
If anything, I think maybe some voiceovers were added and some taken out of the original? I'll have to pop in my PS2 version sometime and see how it compares.
Only a few minutes in, but so far it looks good.
-
TaskMaker on my Macintosh Performa 405.
-
I'm up to date in assassins creed. Now I'm just derping in starcraft and lol. Building a new PC soon. I don't want to start something I can't finish.
-
I spent part of today playing Costume Quest. I love Tim Schafer games, and I picked up Once Upon A Monster this weekend just because he and DoubleFine had a hand in it ($15 at Best Buy!)...but I've been too lazy to move my Kinect or my 360 so they are both in the same room, so I haven't tried it yet.
However, the acquisition of a new Tim Schafer game made me consider the couple that I've never played, and I got Costume Quest in the last Steam sale. I can't say I'm surprised at how enjoyable it was, as it IS Tim Schafer, but man, I had a good time with it. I've still got the DLC part to go through (it was all included on the Steam sale) but the main story was downright adorable and quirky fun.
Now I just need to get Trenched (a.k.a. Iron Brigade) and play through that, wrap up the DLC from Stacking and Costume Quest, finish Brutal Legend, and actually play Once Upon A Monster, and I'll have played all of every game he's ever worked on. I also should see about getting an actual copy of Grim Fandango and Full Throttle (and Trenched) so I can say I own all his games as well...

I still haven't played Grim Fandango and feel like I'm missing out on a key adventure game. Have played the Broken Sword games and Longest Journey, so I'm not completely out of the loop, but Grim Fandango seems like a must. Is the best way to go about it through eBay for a copy or is there a better way somewhere? I guess it's the whole LucasArts not making things easy for us...

If you want to play it, there are ways of acquiring it, but I can't say that I OWN it...
However, if you just want to see the fantastic dialog without the hassle of trying to get it to work on a modern machine (It didn't use the same engine as the other LucasArts games so it's not SCUMMVM friendly), there's a full play through on Youtube. The last time I wanted to play it, I just made a playlist of all those videos in order and wired my laptop to my TV, so I could watch it like a movie.
Also, I can now say I've completed every bit of Costume Quest. Even got all the Steam achievements. I think I'll wrap up Stacking tonight too. :P

Started playing NFS: Underground on the PS2 again. Picked it up a few weeks back since I am working on rebuying all the PS2 games I had traded off over the years. Felt the need for some racing and OutRun Arcade wasn't cutting it. So I popped this baby in the PS3 and boy am I glad I did. I forgot how much I enjoyed this NFS.
-
And I'm back in Arkham Asylum, trying to clear the game in Hard mode now.
-
My wife and I have been playing Rayman Origins (360). It's a lot of fun and the platforming is really well designed. Your character's momentum and the way you swing off ropes or bounce off bounce pads really creates a fun and smooth flow as you progress through the levels.
2D fans should absolutely pick this one up.

You may get all the badges, but I don't feel like you ever FINISH a Pokemon game. There's always more to catch, and if you happened to catch the ones in that game, there's still more to finish the Pokedex from other games, so go play those...if you ever do catch them all, then there's breeding, which is a whole 'nother ball game...

Well, it depends. I did finish both Blue and Red back on the game boy. Collected 150 pokemon in both (including legit doubles for the ones that were exclusive), found all the hidden items, attempted to push the truck or find Pikablu... I don't think there's anything in that game I didn't do back when it came out.

I've been finishing Pokemon for 5 years. Ha

Diablo 3 :D
Instead of studying, servers are down for maintenance right now though.
-
Diablo III, see you in a few weeks. ;)

Kind of a dead thread, so I thought I'd come give it a lil' kick.
Ever since Borderlands 2 came out, a bunch of new Steam friends came out of the woodworks, and it's been a pretty heavy and possibly unhealthy amount of gaming going on.
More PC gaming than usual for me these days (my poor 360), but I've been jonesing for my DS/3DS games again, so it's been a good mix.

Castle Crashers
Guns of Icarus Online
Costume Quest - since H'ween is coming up, I remembered Amauriel and Disgaeniac mentioning that they play this one around Halloween so I thought I'd finally start it up to get into the spirit
Borderlands 2 - toying around with the Mechromancer now
Torchlight 2 - anxious to try the 6-player coop!
3DS / DS:
Code of Princess
Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy
Etrian Odyssey
A lot of stuff just came out this week and more coming up in the next few months... What're you all playing these days?

Good call.
I've been playing a lot of Pokemon working on completely finishing the National Pokedex.
Also I just got Code of Princess and will be playing that a lot too.
And, I am still playing some Borderlands 2, but haven't had much time to play non-portable games.

Just got Resident evil 6 Anthology, I got to play it for like 30 mins and it seems pretty good. Hopfully it picks up :P

Since I'm stuck without AC because the weather is getting cooler, but not cool enough for my PC to not overheat while playing 3D games, I started one of the adventure games in my backlog: Blackwell Unbound. Loving it so far.

I'm playing XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It's very fun.

Did you get a new PC? I thought I saw something on your Twitter about that...

Are you playing the sequels yet? Or just trying to finish off the older ones first?

Not yet, I'm still trying to raise the cash. I have the inventory, I just need to list it first. :)
That and I had to make sure I'd be able to sell it without problems.

Started playing LittleBigPlanet. Really fun game.
I enjoyed the game but I'm not creative enough to fully take advantage of it.
My wife and I are just about done Lego Pirates. I am looking forward to playing something other than a Lego game!

I haven't gotten into the creative side of it but I love playing through the developer levels so far.

I think the base game is great on its own, though I couldn't get pass the ninja level... :\

I played the Hell out of the 1st one. Absolutely loved it. I even made a sub-par DK themed level.
Got the PSP version free from the free games Sony handed out when they got hacked, but never had a memory card large enough to install it.
