Yeah, I should try to play all of my games too. I have most most of them though. Yeah, I have all of my games in alphabetical order, although when other people come over to play games they always mess up the order >:(

You can actually get people to come over and play your retro games with you? Most people just ask me why I don't play Call of Duty, GTA V, or Madden instead.
I'm tired of getting sidetracked. I'm focusing on my NES collection again. All this other stuff is cool and all, but NES is my first love.

Yeah, I'm going to try to get complete copies for my NES games... That will be a nightmare.
My current goal is largely just getting rid of the stuff I don't play and just have games I really want in my possession. The whole collecting thing was fun, but now I just wanna keep stuff I'll actually play. Still keeping a lot though!I go through phases of this as well. It usually corresponds to how my finances are looking lol.
And I'm still on the lookout for a couple things, so I'm not completely out of things :P
Well, I have younger cousins (<10 years old) and they love the NES and Genesis. My friends are like your friends though, obsessing over COD and GTA.
I just noticed yesterday how my PSP wishlist has grown recently. The wishlist is now bigger than the collection itself! But it's hard to find PSP games in here, especially for a reasonable price...
My local GSs still have PSP games, so let me know if there's something you're looking for! I can keep an eye out for you. Not a huge chance that it'll be complete, but you never know! I was passing by some city on a roadtrip and thought I'd ask the clerk for a particular pre-owned PSP game (Class of Heroes), and she had it behind the counter all CIB and minty.
I guess that goes for anyone who's looking for something that might be cheap at Gamestop. Sometimes their non-market prices really pay off (like when they were selling new copies of Dark Spire (with music CD) for $5). If you find that it's not available where you are but might be around San Francisco, let me know :)

I don't like youngsters all that much, except maybe those who are really calm and mature, so you're braver than I am I guess ;D My collector friend and my brother are the only ones who would play with me, but we live pretty far apart from each other, so we can't play together all that much. And my boyfriend is more of a PC gamer, so we rarely play together too.
2. This means finding a copy of Dokapon Kingdom for the Wii :c
1. Complete my wanted list of Wii and DS games (around 70-80ish games to go)
Haha, Dokapon Kingdom is good. Let me know what your price range for it is, and I'll keep an eye out for it.I see you've got both versions, is one better than the other? I have the PS2 version and while it's frustrating sometimes, I really like it now and then.

I want to find Dokapon Journey for the DS (supposed to have different gameplay from the other consoles) but should've gotten it earlier - it's going up in price, too.

Thought about this earlier to keep myself somewhat focused next year.
1. Complete my wanted list of Wii and DS games (around 70-80ish games to go)
2. This means finding a copy of Dokapon Kingdom for the Wii :c
3. A complete PAL Atelier series collection
Then sometime in the future:
4. Buy a boxed Neo Geo Pocket Colour, and then build up a CIB collection for it (probably won't go for a complete set)
5. And maybe finally get myself a PSP and start collecting for that too

I approve ;)
*Continue work on completing my PS3 RPG collection - more of a long-term goal, since some of the newer ones I'll be waiting until they drop in price a good bit.
*Work on completing my PS2 RPG collection.
*Continue to chip away at my list of obscure Wii games.
*Get a complete collection of "Warriors" games for the PS3, including imports of those not available physically in the US (Dynasty Warriors, Gundam Warriors & other spin-offs).

How close are you to the above goals?
I've given up on the 3DO cause. So, so many eBay auctions sniped out from me the last second. *sigh* And now I don't have the money anyways, with a kid on the way and home loan approved.
So basically my current collecting goals just include buying more games I want to play. And hopefully a Wii U at some point down the road, maybe with some help from Christmas money or tax return money, who knows.
But here's my top 10 most wanted games, obviously some of these might be long-term goals while waiting for a good deal, considering prices on certain games in this list:
1. DuckTales 2 (NES)
2. Shovel Knight (3DS) (I know, cheap and available, probably next check or two I'll get it)
3. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)
4. Sunset Riders (SNES)
5. Raiden Project (PS1)
6. Intelligent Qube (PS1)
7. Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom (NES)
8. The Battle of Olympus (Game Boy)
9. Panzer Dragoon: Zwei (Saturn)
10. Castlevania Chronicles (PS1)
I'm missing 40 of the 93 RPGs I've identified on the PS3. This number includes 9 announced but unreleased games.
I'm missing 57 of 136 PS2 RPGs. But some of the ones I have are disk only, and ideally I'd like to complete or replace those with complete copies.
Still a pretty good ways off from the other 2 goals, tho my "Warriors" goal is a recent one I decided on and I don't think it will take too long now that I'm on the lookout for them.
A few fairly sorta kinda realistic goals (that I can focus on now)One of my dreams involves two of your goals. I'd love to get myself the Mother 3 Micro. They're stupidly expensive. At least the deluxe version which has all the cool swag ;D
-Complete collections from my very favorite series/franchises (get all from the main series as well as spin-offs), Disgaea, Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, Guilty Gear, Mega Man, Metroid, etc.
-Own more than one N64 game :P
-Get at least one of every model of Gameboy (from the original brick sized GB up to the micro)
Aaand my less realistic goals for the distant future:
-Get a boxed Panasonic Q, complete with the Game Boy Player to match.
-CompleteStart my Earthbound/Mother collection.
The Mother 3 Deluxe box is amazing. Unfortunately, it's not quite as common as is used to be on Ebay (and it's way more expensive now). It's not exactly something you're going to find for a few bucks at a garage sale either. :PA few fairly sorta kinda realistic goals (that I can focus on now)One of my dreams involves two of your goals. Do you have a list somewhere of all RPGs for these (and/or more) systems? I'd be interested in seeing it, if you don't mind sharing it :)
Nice work on those RPG lists, Greg!
Neeedz PS1 List! ;)
I have completed my personal PS1 rpg set. I have considered going for the entire set ... I guess I should see what I am missing and if its worth it.

Lol you have your own set you could link that would make any RPG collector jealous. :D
EDIT: Soera, Ergheiz is definitely not an RPG, it's a fighting game - no idea why they'd put it on the list (except maybe because it's made by Square & is the "Final Fantasy" fighting game? Iunno...). Don't think I'd call Tomba 2 an RPG either, there's no leveling up or anything like that - tho both Tomba's ARE incredible games.
I was wondering about Tomba on the list myself. And Romance series is a strategy RPG I guess. Ehrgeiz I really hadnt ever heard of. I can mark that one off too I guess heh.

Do you count SRPG's on your "full RPG collection" lists?

Sure, here are links to my spreadsheets in Google Docs. My color coding goes like this: green means I have the game complete, blue means I have it incomplete & yellow means it is not yet released.

Thanks a lot! :D I'm probably gonna add a lot more games to my wishlist soon.
For my personal collection purposes, I don't see the point in owning duplicates.

I agree with this. Which is why I dont own the SNES version of Chrono Trigger, the Genesis versions of Phantasy star series, etc.

Soera, do you play the Chrono Trigger that came in the PS1 compilation? Or is there a better version than that one even?
Thats the version I have. Its not any different from the SNES version except for the price. :)
Just quoted this part :
The port was later released in North America in 2001—along with a newly translated version of Final Fantasy IV—under the package title Final Fantasy Chronicles. Reviewers criticized Chronicles for lengthy load times and an absence of new in-game features.
Must be the Japanese version of the PS1 game. :(
The PS1 version had the animated cutscenes. I do want to warn you though, the load times on the PS1 version were really atrocious. I'm talking every time you open the menu you wait for a while. It was bad. The DS version is the definitive version from my perspective. It added something like 3 more dungeons plus a whole new ending that weren't in even the PS1 version.Must be the Japanese version of the PS1 game. :(
According to this the US version has a gallery and beastiary guide after you beat it.

It also claims it has new animated cut scenes.
Did yours not have these?
Not trying to beat a dead horse I just want to buy the right version of the game once. :)

I can definitely understand the appeal of playing on the TV though. I just use the SNES version for that :D

How is the loading when playing on the PS3? :) Since you can set it to fast load for PS1 games?
I havent heard of that either. It looks legit from forum posts I found, but no one mentions how to enable it. Just that some games have issues if you enable it.
Just tap the Playstation button while you're in the PSOne game, it will bring up a menu and that should be one of the options.

Then again, I can only remember playing a couple of PS1 games on my PS3 (CT WAS one of them, though)!

(Not that I don't believe everything that I read on Internet message boards, or anything:) ;)
Everything is awesome!
Including that ... I will have to try it out now.

You can also set fast load for every ps1 game somewhere in the main settings menu. I don't remember where off the top of my head. I can post a video or screenshot when I get home.
My bad, Greg :o
I wasn't doubting you.
I should have quoted the original post asking for a source on where (and when) there was a PSN patch/System Update that added a permanent PS3 system setting called "PS1 Fast-Loader" (or whatever) that you can set to constantly speed up all PS1 game load times...I know there's (been) a setting for "Upscaling" PS1 games -but- this is something completely different; right?
Also, I *think* that I heard that there was some setting like this for the VITA when playing digital PS1 games & was wondering if it's now the same thing for both the PS3 & the Vita...
My bad, Greg :oI believe the Vita has the same thing. This is again according to internet forums which would never lead us astray.

It's been a feature of the ps3 since launch.
I know for sure you can set it per game as described above. But I think you can set it as a default for all games as well. I could be mistaken on that part.
Don't feel bad. Some people don't realize they can play ps1 games on it at all.

Folks,
I have to apologize. I just sat down to check and it seems I got my new old school mixed up.
The ps2 lets you set it system wide (although my Alzheimer's has me swearing I set it when I first got my ps3 as well.). I also swear I've toggled it on/off per game on my PS3 (that one must be the Aspertame in my Coke Zero).
Anyway, I am uploading a video to youtube showing how to set it system wide on the PS2. I've read a few places that say PS2 with fast disk read is actually faster than PS3 normal.
I'll have to give that a shot. If it's true I guess my quest for a fully backward compatible PS3 fat will come to an end and my PS 2 will continue to have purpose.
I'm pretty embarrassed by my brain misfiring on this one. :P

My kids have watched it 4 times over the last 2 nights. I cant get that damned song out of my head.

I tested it on my PS2 this morning before work (good excuse to be late if I've ever heard of one!) and the fast read on the PS2 had a noticeable difference, but still had very noticeable load times. So officially, it looks like the PS2 and the PSVita can do it? Good to know!
Testing Chrono Trigger on the PS3 last night, I got to see just how long the load times were opening up the menu. It was BAD. I'll try it with my PS2 tonight when I get home :D

Nope, they only shut down the online functionality of games on the DS & Wii. The Wii Shop Channel and DSi Shop are still functional. Nintendo will still let you give them your money, they just won't let you have fun online with their games.

The Nintendo DS version is pretty good too. Even if you can't play it on your TV or use save states, it's still another good option.

I just got an old DS and sent it in to be modded. I was just expecting to be able to capture my gameplay, but an unexpected perk is to be able to play my DS games on my computer monitor! I'm sure with a little maneuvering, I could easily arrange to have it be playable on my television. I probably wouldn't play anything too action-oriented off the monitor, but it's great for turn-based RPGs.
Looking forward to playing Chrono Trigger soon.
^ Like I suggested: Wii Virtual Console version. It's cheap, you get to play it on a T.V. screen, no load times, and instant saves anywhere at anytime.

Let me know how that (playing DS games on your tv) works, Deso - I've wondered about how that would work-out for a system with 2 screens...
Gotta catch em' all
Own most of the Castlevania games, I already have the DS ones and Aria of Sorrow, but I need the ps2 ones, judgement etc.I’ve been on a big Castlevania kick lately and I need to get those DS ones myself

My main goal is to finish up my NA 360 unique games collection. I'm down to one, but it's not even in the database.

Just Dance 2019 I'm assuming? They even made a Wii release of that game.
I'm actually just getting back into working on my 360 collection myself, as recently my overall collecting focus has mainly been centered around Board games, Lego sets, and Nendoroids.
