Title: Current Collection Goals?
Post by: Oheao on December 03, 2013, 07:45:36 pm
I don't know if this has already been made, sorry if it has. I'm wondering, what are your current goals considering your collection? Since I saved up for and got a PS4, my #1 goal was accomplished. Here are my next goals:
1. Find a working SNES! I have 2 and for some reason they rarely turn on. I have no idea what's wrong with them.
2. Get Complete/Non Re-release (GH/P'sC/PH) versions of all games owned
3. Get a Wii U/PlayStation Vita
4. Get all games previously owned

I know we have this thread: http://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,650.0/

But I feel like that's more for after your goals are completed.

Just some quick thoughts for my collection.

1. I, too, would like a Vita.
2. Or a PS3.
3. Fill out my PS1/PS2 RPG collection.
4. GET AROUND TO PLAYING ALL OF MY GAMES.
6. Organize my games properly and make sure the right game is in the right box  ::)
5. Do a proper audit of my collection for VGC and update for box text and back covers.

Yeah, I should try to play all of my games too. I have most most of them though. Yeah, I have all of my games in alphabetical order, although when other people come over to play games they always mess up the order  >:(

You can actually get people to come over and play your retro games with you? Most people just ask me why I don't play Call of Duty, GTA V, or Madden instead.

Well, I have younger cousins (<10 years old) and they love the NES and Genesis. My friends are like your friends though, obsessing over COD and GTA.

I'm tired of getting sidetracked. I'm focusing on my NES collection again. All this other stuff is cool and all, but NES is my first love.

Yeah, I'm going to try to get complete copies for my NES games... That might be a nightmare.

Yeah, I'm going to try to get complete copies for my NES games... That will be a nightmare.

Fixed your post for you.

As far as my collecting goals, lets see.
#1 - Finish my complete SMS set. 22 8 titles to go. Its going to be cool when its done!
#2 - CDX. I still owe a bit on it but once I get it finished, its time to get some cool Sega CD games. And a plug for the system.
#3 - Turbo Grafx magazines. There are 3 different series of magazines for the TG. Turbo Force, Turbo Play, and Duo World. I am only missing 8 issues from all 3 combined to have an entire completed set. Its not something that pops up very often so when its done, it will be pretty nice.
#4 - Strategy guides for my PS1 collection. 116 to go.
#5 - PS3/PS4. Still some games I want for my PS3. I also want to get a PS4 for Diablo III Ultimate edition and Elder Scrolls online.
#6 - NES wall. I have one that I want to replace the label on (Wario's woods) and then just fill as many spots as I can.
#7 - Odds and ends. Mario RPG box. Sealed Krull for Atari. Magic knight Rayearth and a Saturn.

After that, its just sit and enjoy what I have. I will probably never finish #6 and Ill always have DQ stuff to look for but my collecting part of my life is nearing an end point. :)

My current goal is largely just getting rid of the stuff I don't play and just have games I really want in my possession. The whole collecting thing was fun, but now I just wanna keep stuff I'll actually play. Still keeping a lot though!

And I'm still on the lookout for a couple things, so I'm not completely out of things :P

I'm actually gonna focus more on modern games.

I already have a lot of classic games. Not every game I want (I doubt that will ever happen, my wishlist just continues to grow and grow, especially in the last few years as I've followed Classic Game Room, Gamester81, and Irate Gamer). But enough for now. And because of that, I actually missed out on a bit the last couple of years.

And I REALLY, REALLY want a 3DS and a Wii U. And new systems mean new games.

I'd also like to get a PSP, I still don't have one.

I think my main thing at the moment is catching up on PS3 games that I missed out on, since I was nearing 360 fanboyism last gen.

My Major Goal is going to be finishing my "core" N64 collection, anything after the final 5 is just extra
other than that
-find a Power Base Converter so I can actually play the Master System games I have
-expand my Saturn and Dreamcast collection
-Finally buy some Universal Game Cases so I can actually display certain games
-Remember to buy the Atlus and NIS games when they come out (I did a little better this year)
Title: Re: Current Collection Goals?
Post by: sin2beta on December 03, 2013, 10:44:47 pm
These are my main ones:
1) Finish my 32x collection (not something I set out to do, but it's so small it is easy to just finish)
2) As a subset finish the CD 32x games
3) Wall o' Genesis (nothing specific. I just want a bookshelf full of Genesis carts)
4) Complete Game Gear and SMS US Sets
5) Buy 360 games for the next few years regularly while they are cheap on Amazon.
6) Do I want an SG1000 or not (it is my goal to decide. It seems redundant and necessary at the same time)
7) Do I need an MSX (for a Microsoft collection, is this necessary? They do look cool...)

Possible things I'm toying around with
1) 3DO collection (I honestly like FMV)
2) Neo Geo CD/Pocket collection
3) Atari collection (seems like a whole segment of gaming I'm missing)
4) Best of the Best NES collection
5) Sega arcade collection (If I had room and money for electromechanical games, this would not be a question)

Not really collecting but the next gaming purchases I have in mind are -

1) Buy a Vita
2) Buy armfuls of doujin games I've been meaning to buy but not got around to

In no particular order:

*Save money to buy PS4 and Vita: really hoping that an actual bundle becomes available.  Get the Vita TV stateside also!
*Look around to create and build Sega Saturn/Genesis collection: lots of nostalgia with friends and elder brother on this.
*Buy or build cabinet to hold my collection: currently sharing one with my second-eldest brother and not working well.
*Organize/dispose of unrelated items: so I can finally upload a picture of my Game Room.
*Buy TV and/or adapters to make consoles compatible: a necessity.
*Finish some games I played: very long backlog list.

Will update or reply again once I remember the others.

I really just buy whatever looks interesting to me at the time, but I have a few long term goals:

1. Complete Wizardry series set including variants
The hardest part on this will be hunting down all the computer ports.  May never achieve this one.
2. Get a complete in box Odyssey 2 US set
For some reason this system interests me and 99% of the boxed games are cheap!
3. Fill in all missing VGCollect data in my collection.
I do this one in spurts.  Sometimes I spend the whole weekend doing edits, other times I go weeks without one.  I get tired of the box text edits!

I guess some other goals would be something like this:

- Repurchase all traded/sold NES, PS2, Xbox games I got rid of years ago.
- Go through the database and build legit wishlists for each console I own.
- Build a collection of best PS3 exclusives.
- Buy more SHMUPs (especially SNES and 360 ones)
- Hit 100 PS2 games
- Continue building my Saturn collection
- Continue my Castlevania collection
- Enter in all missing data for games in my collection.

I've really tried to narrow down my spending on collecting so my wish list isn't too big!

- I decided last week I'm going to focus on Dreamcast collecting. Possibly going for a complete set!
- Buy the Zelda: Link Between Worlds 3DS bundle and finally have a 3DS. (I was hoping for a deal during black Friday etc. T_T)
- Continue looking out for SNES games but remembering that those things are expensive now :/.

Right now I've refocused on NES.  I recently finished my boxed Konami gray box collection, now I'm working on getting all the loose black box Nintendo titles, I have 4 or 5 left to go.  Getting close to the 50% mark; probably there already if I don't count unlicensed.

Other than that, I've recently started working on N64.  Prices are pretty reasonable yet, so a full set (minus color variants and 'not for resale') is pretty sensibly within reach.

Well, I have younger cousins (<10 years old) and they love the NES and Genesis. My friends are like your friends though, obsessing over COD and GTA.

I don't like youngsters all that much, except maybe those who are really calm and mature, so you're braver than I am I guess ;D My collector friend and my brother are the only ones who would play with me, but we live pretty far apart from each other, so we can't play together all that much. And my boyfriend is more of a PC gamer, so we rarely play together too.

Okay, if I get back on topic, I guess my next goals are:
* Get to 300 games (almost there, I have 285 right now)
* Get more NeoGeo Pocket Color games
* Get a PS Vita
* Get more PSP games

I just noticed yesterday how my PSP wishlist has grown recently. The wishlist is now bigger than the collection itself! But it's hard to find PSP games in here, especially for a reasonable price...

My local GSs still have PSP games, so let me know if there's something you're looking for!  I can keep an eye out for you.  Not a huge chance that it'll be complete, but you never know!  I was passing by some city on a roadtrip and thought I'd ask the clerk for a particular pre-owned PSP game (Class of Heroes), and she had it behind the counter all CIB and minty.

I guess that goes for anyone who's looking for something that might be cheap at Gamestop.  Sometimes their non-market prices really pay off (like when they were selling new copies of Dark Spire (with music CD) for $5).  If you find that it's not available where you are but might be around San Francisco, let me know :)

***

An addition to my list:
6. Fix my sell list now that digital bundle policies have changed -__-

My local GS also has PSP games, but they're usually ridiculously priced. Still, I recently found Every Extend Extra for $1 there, so it varies a lot...

Thank you for the offer, that's very kind! :) There's nothing that I desperately want yet (holiday season might help that feeling with the cost of stuff... haha) but when I get the urge to buy a new PSP game, I'll hit you up if I can't find it! Thanks again  ;D

I've got a fair number of tasks on my list:
- Trying to finish out the last bits of 'most wanted' PS3, 360, DS, and PSP games.
- Save up for a PS4, Saturn, Neo-Geo MVS + Vogatek IV supergun, and RGB > HDMI converter.
- Catch up on accessories I want/need. I've got a bunch of controllers that need replacing, need a Wii RemotePlus, a better PS2 arcade stick than my Tekken 5 one, etc.
- Maybe some additional storage/reorg to prepare for new console stuff.

Thought about this earlier to keep myself somewhat focused next year.
1. Complete my wanted list of Wii and DS games (around 70-80ish games to go)
2. This means finding a copy of Dokapon Kingdom for the Wii :c
3. A complete PAL Atelier series collection

Then sometime in the future:
4. Buy a boxed Neo Geo Pocket Colour, and then build up a CIB collection for it (probably won't go for a complete set)
5. And maybe finally get myself a PSP and start collecting for that too

I like that kind of goal, it's just high enough for me to be believable and motivating, while not seeming uninteresting haha (when there's only a few left, I tend to get bored)

I see you've got both versions, is one better than the other? I have the PS2 version and while it's frustrating sometimes, I really like it now and then.

I think I originally played the Wii version but not the PS2 version, but it's been so long now I can't really recall.  I bought the PS2 version because it was like $5 at Gamestop but for some reason goes for over 10 times that amount.  There's a copy of the Wii version at my local shop for $25 I believe - let me know if you ever want me to pick it up for you.

The Wii version is probably the same, I'd think.  Controls are pretty basic and gameplay can be ridiculous but still fun, especially with friends.

I want to find Dokapon Journey for the DS (supposed to have different gameplay from the other consoles) but should've gotten it earlier - it's going up in price, too.

Holy crap way to necro a good thread! :) (not a bad thing).

My goals are:

1) Keep plugging away at the wishlist. (Down to double digits now) unfortunately I'm down to the pricier titles.
2) Get a Sega CDX (a completely irrational desire because I have no Sega CD titles and have none in my wishlist. Although I do borrow some from time to time to play in my xbox)
3) Get a 3DO with Demolition Man, Night Trap, Daedalus Encounter, Gex, and The Need a For Speed. (Also possibly an irrational desire since I don't know how much I'll actually play them.

Temporary sidebar...

It's kinda neat now going through old Nintendo Powers and looking at the top 30 lists and seeing I have nearly every title on them. :)

+Saving money to try getting  a PlayStation 4 and Sega Genesis so that I can finally start on my games.
+Expanding my Sega Genesis collection and ponder if I am able to start a Sega Saturn collection.
+Try to retrieve some of the games I foolishly sold back in the day.

*Continue work on completing my PS3 RPG collection - more of a long-term goal, since some of the newer ones I'll be waiting until they drop in price a good bit.
*Work on completing my PS2 RPG collection.
*Continue to chip away at my list of obscure Wii games.
*Get a complete collection of "Warriors" games for the PS3, including imports of those not available physically in the US (Dynasty Warriors, Gundam Warriors & other spin-offs).

A few fairly sorta kinda realistic goals (that I can focus on now)
-Complete collections from my very favorite series/franchises (get all from the main series as well as spin-offs), Disgaea, Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, Guilty Gear, Mega Man, Metroid, etc.
-Own more than one N64 game :P
-Get at least one of every model of Gameboy (from the original brick sized GB up to the micro)

Aaand my less realistic goals for the distant future:
-Get a boxed Panasonic Q, complete with the Game Boy Player to match.
-Complete Start my Earthbound/Mother collection.

* continue to expand my gamecube/wii collection+ contact friends for free/sealed games
* Get a psp/ps3 for the collection
*get a sega genesis model 1/sega cd model 1( if possible find a sega cdx)

I'm missing 40 of the 93 RPGs I've identified on the PS3.  This number includes 9 announced but unreleased games.

I'm missing 57 of 136 PS2 RPGs.  But some of the ones I have are disk only, and ideally I'd like to complete or replace those with complete copies.

Still a pretty good ways off from the other 2 goals, tho my "Warriors" goal is a recent one I decided on and I don't think it will take too long now that I'm on the lookout for them.

My current goal is selling a lot of games I don't play or need. Probably around 200 games going for the 2600, 7800, xl/xe, nes, genny, sms, tg-16. Some extra atari and nes toasters going too.

Tired of shelf filler.

I've given up on the 3DO cause. So, so many eBay auctions sniped out from me the last second. *sigh* And now I don't have the money anyways, with a kid on the way and home loan approved.

So basically my current collecting goals just include buying more games I want to play. And hopefully a Wii U at some point down the road, maybe with some help from Christmas money or tax return money, who knows.

But here's my top 10 most wanted games, obviously some of these might be long-term goals while waiting for a good deal, considering prices on certain games in this list:

1. DuckTales 2 (NES)
2. Shovel Knight (3DS) (I know, cheap and available, probably next check or two I'll get it)
3. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)
4. Sunset Riders (SNES)
5. Raiden Project (PS1)
6. Intelligent Qube (PS1)
7. Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom (NES)
8. The Battle of Olympus (Game Boy)
9. Panzer Dragoon: Zwei (Saturn)
10. Castlevania Chronicles (PS1)

Actually, as I was going through my wishlist, I just realized I only have 2 more XBox (original) exclusives left on my wishlist: Stubbs the Zombie & Yager. So I guess that's a goal.

Ducktales 2 is a worthy #1 goal. If not for VG Collect and Urbanchaos I wouldn't have achieved it myself.

My son and I really enjoy it. I hope Wayforward gives it the "Ducktales Remastered" treatment at some point.

One day Urbanchaos posted here in VGC that he was selling his copy (and he has good feedback). So I jumped on that! :)

After seeing 3 phonies on ebay sold at insane prices I scratched amazon and ebay off my "buying rare/pricey games" vendor list. (Still use ebay for the cheaper stuff tho)

Fortunately or sadly depending on how you look at it, I have reached the point in collecting where I have about 90% of every game I've ever wanted. Most of the stuff I'm still after is either a newer game that is too pricy to pick up just yet, really rare, or really expensive. Because of this I have just been buying this stuff as I find it in the wild for cheap, and no longer have been speed collecting or rushing to complete a collection. I guess my number 1 goal as it relates to collecting is to start enjoying the games in my collection more rather then going out an looking for more games (although I'll still do a fair amount of that as well).

Do you have a list somewhere of all RPGs for these (and/or more) systems? I'd be interested in seeing it, if you don't mind sharing it :)

One of my dreams involves two of your goals. I'd love to get myself the Mother 3 Micro. They're stupidly expensive. At least the deluxe version which has all the cool swag  ;D

The Mother 3 Deluxe box is amazing. Unfortunately, it's not quite as common as is used to be on Ebay (and it's way more expensive now). It's not exactly something you're going to find for a few bucks at a garage sale either. :P

Lol, I don't have it in me to even attempt a complete PS1 RPG collection.  :P

Sad thing is, there was a time when I had most of the "big" PS1 RPGs in my collection so that goal would be fairly reasonable, but I sold most of them off.   :'(

My top 5 'Biggest' sets of RPG's would definitely be:

PS3,
PS2,
PS1,
DS, and,
PSP

(maybe not quite in that order - although...switch the DS & PS1 -and- it's probably pretty close to that order)

w/o looking or checking...I'd guess that I'm probably at least 1/2 way there, though  ;D

*upcomers* and/or *Newcomers* to systems that I'd want full RPG collections for would be:

VITA,

3DS, and

Gamecube

(Most definitely in THAT order)!

This is what VGPC has listed as PS1 RPGs - http://videogames.pricecharting.com/console/playstation?sort-by=name&genre=rpg

These are the ones it says Im missing :
Advanced Dungeons and Dragons
Azure dreams
Blazing Dragons
Brigandine
Broken Sword
Broken Sword 2
Deception III
Digimon series
Dragon Ball GT
Ehrgeiz
Front mission 3
Grandia
Granstream Saga
Hoshigami
Inuyasha
Kartia
King's field 2
Legend of Mana
Magic the gathering
Monster ranger 1 & 2
Ogre battle
Romance of the 3 kingdoms IV and VI
Saga Frontier 1 & 2
Star Ocean
Tactics Ogre
Tomba 2
Valkyrie profile
Vandal hearts 1 & 2
Yu-gi-oh series

I know I could not care less for the digimon/Yu-gi-oh/MTG games. Im not a tactic rpg fan either so the Ogre games, Romance games, etc I wouldnt want. I suppose after looking at the titles here, I would only probably want AD&D, Azure Dreams, Legend of Mana, Saga frontier 1 &2, Star Ocean, and Vandal hearts 1 & 2. But if I did that, its a long ways down the line.

It depresses me to think of all those RPGs I've gotten rid of over the years - Arc the Lad and both Lunar's, bought brand new by me & in immaculate condition, Xenogears, Valkyrie Profile, both Tales games, more obscure stuff like Thousand Arms & Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure - both US Persona's, both Breath of Fire's, Suikoden...  And all of that was complete & in very good to mint condition.

OK, now I need to go somewhere & cry.   :'(

EDIT:  Soera, Ergheiz is definitely not an RPG, it's a fighting game - no idea why they'd put it on the list (except maybe because it's made by Square & is the "Final Fantasy" fighting game?  Iunno...).  Don't think I'd call Tomba 2 an RPG either, there's no leveling up or anything like that - tho both Tomba's ARE incredible games.

Quoted this to back him up. Ergheiz is a fighting game starring Squaresoft characters, and Tomba 2 is a platformer.

Also, aren't the Romance of the Three Kingdoms strategy games?

- Get "caught up" completely with my PS3 exclusive collection.
- Get "caught up" with my entire PS Vita wishlist.
- Bring a wishlist for one defunct console down to zero, mostly likely N64.
- Box up my entire Nintendo cart collection with custom made paper boxes (a work in progress).
- Possibly build one huge wall shelf for my entire games library.
- Stay more focused on my PS1 and DS wishlist than I have been.

BTW just so you know, I omitted games from those lists that have an upgraded version (so for example, I only have Atelier Rorona Plus on my list & not the original) and games that were ported or simultaneously released on later generation systems (so the Kingdom Hearts games aren't on my PS2 list, but the HD ports are on my PS3 list and Natural Doctrine isn't on my PS3 list because it's also coming to the PS4).  For my personal collection purposes, I don't see the point in owning duplicates of that nature but others may disagree.  :)

According to Wikipedia neither the DS nor the PS1 release are unaltered ports. Both have new cut scenes, additional endings, and extra content!

Looks like I'm picking up the DS or PS version. DS has the most enhancements but I'll probably go with the PS one so I can play on the TV.

The article is inconsistent though because the first half of that same paragraph says:

"Square released an enhanced port of Chrono Trigger developed by Tose in Japan for the Sony PlayStation in 1999. Square timed its release before that of Chrono Cross, the 1999 sequel to Chrono Trigger, to familiarize new players with story leading up to it.[42] This version included anime cut scenes created by original character designer Akira Toriyama's Bird Studio and animated by Toei Animation, as well as several bonus features, accessible after achieving various endings in the game. Scenarist Masato Kato attended planning meetings at Bird Studio to discuss how the ending cut scenes would illustrate subtle ties to Chrono Cross."

The PS1 version had the animated cutscenes. I do want to warn you though, the load times on the PS1 version were really atrocious. I'm talking every time you open the menu you wait for a while. It was bad. The DS version is the definitive version from my perspective. It added something like 3 more dungeons plus a whole new ending that weren't in even the PS1 version.

I can definitely understand the appeal of playing on the TV though. I just use the SNES version for that :D

I'd recommend getting the Wii Virtual Console version of Chrono Trigger.

It's just the SNES version. But no load times like the PS1 version, you can play it on a T.V. rather than the cramped screen of a handheld, and you can save your game anywhere, even in the middle of a battle, thanks to VC's save system.

And it's probably the cheapest version.

It also claims it has new animated cut scenes.

Did yours not have these?

Not trying to beat a dead horse I just want to buy the right version of the game once. :)

How is the loading when playing on the PS3? :) Since you can set it to fast load for PS1 games?
I've never heard of this fast load for PS3. Is it just in the settings somewhere?

If I remember tonight, I'll pop it in and see what the difference is like.

It looks legit from forum posts I found, but no one mentions how to enable it. Just that some games have issues if you enable it.

Just tap the Playstation button while you're in the PSOne game, it will bring up a menu and that should be one of the options.

Then again, I can only remember playing a couple of PS1 games on my PS3 (CT WAS one of them, though)!

You can also set fast load for every ps1 game somewhere in the main settings menu. I don't remember where off the top of my head. I can post a video or screenshot when I get home.

Mortal Kombat Trilogy for PS1 had awful load times on PS1 but it's not bad at all on PS3.

My bad, Greg  :o

I wasn't doubting you.

I should have quoted the original post asking for a source on where (and when) there was a PSN patch/System Update that added a permanent PS3 system setting called "PS1 Fast-Loader" (or whatever) that you can set to constantly speed up all PS1 game load times...I know there's (been) a setting for "Upscaling" PS1 games -but- this is something completely different; right?

Also, I *think* that I heard that there was some setting like this for the VITA when playing digital PS1 games & was wondering if it's now the same thing for both the PS3 & the Vita...

It's been a feature of the ps3 since launch.

I know for sure you can set it per game as described above. But I think you can set it as a default for all games as well. I could be mistaken on that part.

Don't feel bad. Some people don't realize they can play ps1 games on it at all.

That's what I was thinking.  I'm not 100% sure if there's a way to set it to do that as the default or not, I *want* to say no because of the whole "some games may not work correctly if you turn it on" clause, I was thinking they made it stay off by default so that you'd see the game actually worked before messing with it.  But I'm not certain on that.  I always just do the quickie change per game, since I play PSOne games on my PS3 so rarely, and let that be it.  :)

Soooo I can't find that option anywhere. I looked under other settings while in the game and all I have is Screen mode and smoothing. I tried this with the FF Chronicles disk, then figured maybe it's only PSN titles, so I started up Vagrant Story and Xenogears that I got from the PSN and didn't see it either. I'm lost... lol

Folks,

I have to apologize. I just sat down to check and it seems I got my new old school mixed up.

The ps2 lets you set it system wide (although my Alzheimer's has me swearing I set it when I first got my ps3 as well.). I also swear I've toggled it on/off per game on my PS3 (that one must be the Aspertame in my Coke Zero).

Anyway, I am uploading a video to youtube showing how to set it system wide on the PS2. I've read a few places that say PS2 with fast disk read is actually faster than PS3 normal.

I'll have to give that a shot. If it's true I guess my quest for a fully backward compatible PS3 fat will come to an end and my PS 2 will continue to have purpose.

I'm pretty embarrassed by my brain misfiring on this one. :P

I tested it on my PS2 this morning before work (good excuse to be late if I've ever heard of one!) and the fast read on the PS2 had a noticeable difference, but still had very noticeable load times. So it makes it better, but still not great.

It should be noted that when I enabled it and went into the game the first time, it froze at the PS1 logo screen.... You might run into some stability issues.

Here's some videos to show you how bad it can be.

Chrono Trigger Battle Load comparison of SNES vs PS1.

Comparison of PS Vita with and without Fast Read vs PS1

The second video gives you an idea of what you'd be gaining on the PS2 I'd think. Keep in mind, this is every transition... Even opening the menu is painful  :-\

Nope, they only shut down the online functionality of games on the DS & Wii. The Wii Shop Channel and DSi Shop are still functional. Nintendo will still let you give them your money, they just won't let you have fun online with their games.

I just got an old DS and sent it in to be modded.  I was just expecting to be able to capture my gameplay, but an unexpected perk is to be able to play my DS games on my computer monitor!  I'm sure with a little maneuvering, I could easily arrange to have it be playable on my television.  I probably wouldn't play anything too action-oriented off the monitor, but it's great for turn-based RPGs.

Looking forward to playing Chrono Trigger soon.

Let me know how that (playing DS games on your tv) works, Deso - I've wondered about how that would work-out for a system with 2 screens...

Let me know how that (playing DS games on your tv) works, Deso - I've wondered about how that would work-out for a system with 2 screens...

For those of you who are interested, this is a good video showing how the capture software works with the computer monitor:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGWR8yjWat4

As you can see, you can either run the two screens as one window or separate out the two windows and resize as you like in order to mimic the gap between the two screens on the actual console.

Since the DS can play GBA games, too, the software has an option for GBA titles (with proper aspect ratio retained).

I'm sure I'd be able to run the capture software on a laptop (I can't test it with my current laptop since it's a Mac) and connect it to my TV to act as a second monitor :)

The guy who modded my DS also does 3DSes, too, but that was outside of my budget.  But he did a great job, and the software is simple and works great: http://3dscapture.com/  <- please be aware that this site is *not* related to http://www.3dsvideocapture.com/ (which is run overseas from me, is way more expensive for some reason, and has gotten iffy reviews occasionally)

BUMPED THREAD BY OLDGAMERZ 11/12/2018 (edit) forgot about the collection achievements thread

found this thread before creating another one

I currently have not been playing too many video games, As of today I am happy with my current status of my collection, I need to play the games that I already have in which is a lot of video games in my opinion. I more often listen to music rather than watch tv or play video games. I own many compilations so I do have way more video games in my collection then I can list on this site, since I learned you should not add any arcade games if you don't actually have the physical arcade machine, other wise it is considered a waste of data in the database.

Geez, this thread had been buried a long time! The last time I replied to it was in 2014 so I guess I'll list my current collecting goals since a lot has changed in that 4-years. These are my current collecting goals in order of their priority and importance to me right now.

1. Rebuild my retro game collection: primarily I want to build up my NES, SNES, Genesis, and Gamecube collections since those all took the biggest hit during last year's infamous selloff. I don't plan on rebuying everything I once had, but I'd like roughly about half of it back. There are also a few titles that I didn't have on those platforms that I'd like to have. Also, there are a few titles for other retro platforms that I've like to obtain again as well.

2. Work on completing my other collections: There are many consoles I'm still actively collecting for, some I only have a handful of games left that I want on them, some there are many I'd still like to own, but I will continue to look for the games I'm after. Depending on how bad I want specific titles I may result to ebay or paying similar prices at game stores, but for the most part most of the titles I'm after I'll be patient about and pick them up when I come across them for a good enough price.

3. Obtain boxes and manuals for my loose cartridge games: This is something that will mostly be a passive goal, for now, but I am actively trying to complete the loose cartridge games I have, eventually hoping to get boxes and hopefully manuals for all of them. Definitely the N64 is the system I would prioritize the most for this, but also Genesis and SNES; regarding NES I'm still on the fence as to whether I want to go through the trouble of completing them, but we'll see. This goal might go up the list in the near future, but for now it's a relatively passive goal.

4. Build my import collection: Luckily I have many of the import games I really want, but there are still a decent amount I'm after. I've stuck to getting imports mostly as gifts or on the super rare occasions I run into them in the wild, but I imagine I'll still use these methods for obtaining them for the foreseeable future. There are some pretty high dollar imports I'm after, but these will likely be the last imports I obtain; I wouldn't be be surprised if it takes me a decade or longer to bite the bullet on a few that go for over a hundred bucks.

5. Get back into NTSC-US Saturn collecting: This has been something I've entertained for a very long time after deciding years ago to only collect import Saturn games given how much cheaper they are and also how many more titles there are for the Japanese Saturn. However, this doesn't help me with the JRPGs and various other titles that are incredibly hard to play if you aren't fairly good at Japanese. The reason this goal is at the very bottom is that I have no intention of starting my US Saturn collection up anytime soon, and unless I come across a bunch of choice Saturn games for a killer price this goal will likely remain on the backburner at least for several years.

I'm focusing on 16-bit shoot-em ups, right now:

Arrow Flash, Gaiares, Whip Rush, and U.N. Squadron are at the top of my list, right now.

I’ve been on a big Castlevania kick lately and I need to get those DS ones myself

So worth it! They're gorgeous little gems.

My goals are kind of passive; kind of "I'll get around to them when I feel like or if the situation arises."

1. Finish my Panzer Dragoon Saturn collection. I have Zweii and Saga. I'd like to get the first one at some point.

2. Finish my Azure Dreams collection. I have the PlayStation game and Tao's Adventure for the DS. I'd like to get the Game Boy Color version.

3. Obtain things like books, figures, prints, etc. relating to Mega Man X and Valkyrie Profile. These are two series that I really enjoy. It'd be fun to have more things for them.

My original goal for this year was to get to 500 Sega Genesis games, but everything fizzled out during the summer. I think that currently, I don't have any goals for the video game collection.

My main goal is to finish up my NA 360 unique games collection. I'm down to one, but it's not even in the database. I was going to get it this week, by my car decided to quit qorking….so maybe after new years :(
Other than that, just work through my wishlist.

Just Dance 2019 I'm assuming? They even made a Wii release of that game.

I'm actually just getting back into working on my 360 collection myself, as recently my overall collecting focus has mainly been centered around Board games, Lego sets, and Nendoroids.

No, I did pick up JD 2019, but yeah it's not here either, lol. The one game I'm missing is Fifa 19. it was released in Mexico, but not the US.
