Title: February 2014 - Recently Added to Collection/Recently Purchased
Post by: atarileaf on February 01, 2014, 11:48:30 am
Another $10 "box o' crap" from Computers for Kids yardsale. Red Baron, Elite, and Telewar II are Amiga, everything else is DOS. It was cool to find a boxed Soundblaster 16 and the ISA video card since I'd love to find a 486 game for PC gaming and those are good pieces for a build. Threw in a dusty Competition Pro joystick and NBA Live 97 because they looked sad sitting on the shelf :)

RED BARON! I had Red Baron 3D way back when. It was the first game I ever played online. It was awful and laggy, but I was online! I played the absolute shit out of that game and still sucked. It was fun at the time though.

Is Red Baron a sequel to Blue Max on Commodore 64? I ask because I noticed it was for Amiga, and of course the similar-themed named.
Blue Max was one of the most played games on the Commodore 64, for me.

It's a local indoor yardsale that is a charity to give computers for underprivileged kids. They have a lot of old computers and some software. I used to find a ton of old gaming and computer stuff like commodore, tandy coco, apple II, atari 8-bit and 16-bit computers, amigas. That kind of ended when the resellers started going there. They must think old pc software is worthless because it never gets touched.

No big purchase recently, But I picked up Batter Up for Game Gear. It's kinda hard to find. eStarland wants to sell it for around $12. Which considering it is a sports game on Game Gear, is insanely high. Luckily found it for a couple of bucks.
Kind of a pick up, but I received my Game Gear video out boards from evilTim. I have now sent my Game Gear and the boards to a friend in the UK for installation. Kind of psyched to play Game Gear on TV and record footage.
@Flea: Nice pickup with the Gamester81 game.

I'm going into this with absolutely zero expectations. Looks like it might be a fun adventure game, and it's by Capcom. Apparently there was a sequel, too.
Anyone know anything about this one?

I played the demo years ago on the PSM demo disc. I enjoyed it and intended to buy it eventually, it and it's sequel are on my wishlist actually.

I can tell you that it's ostensibly part of the Ghosts n' Goblins series. I haven't played it though, so that's all I can really say :P

Dog-Coins? Man am I behind the times. I still haven't even used Bit Coins yet.
I don't have a Smart Phone or Tablet for that matter, either. I have a flip-phone TracPhone (with crappy-ass mobile web) and a land-line still (Does a 3DS count as a tablet? If so, I have that.)

Lol, Dogecoin is a crytocurrency that can be "mined" with a GPU. if you're looking for more information stop by reddit.com/r/dogecoin.
People are selling all sorts of stuff on /r/dogemarket. I also just bought a copy of GTA V, still waiting for that to come in.

You can mine on linux. people are doing it all the time. Head over to http://www.reddit.com/r/dogemining and they can help you out with it.

Went on a game hunt all over the Chicago with a fellow collector and here's what I picked up.
PS3 - Madden NFL 09 - En Espanol
PSP - B-Boy
Xbox - Conker: Live & Reloaded - Playboy The Mansion
PS1 - Ace Combat 3
N64 - Mischief Makers - Big Mountain 2000
GG - Arcade Classics - Batman Returns - Streets of Rage - Streets of Rage II - Star Trek Generations - Spider-Man Return of the Sinister Six - G-Loc - Sonic Triple Trouble - Halley Wars
GEN - Sorcerer's Kingdom (CIB) - The Immortal (CIB) - Last Battle (CIB) - Battlemaster (CIB) - Space Invaders '91 (box and manual) was free
SNES - Tin Star - Legend of the Mystical Ninja - Bonkers - Izzy and the Olympic Rings - Obilus - Dungeon Master
Colecovision - Mr. Do!'s Castle - Quest for Quintana Roo
I just signed up, downloading a mining package now. First foray into cryptocurrency and all that. Do you have a recommended pool I should check out?
I am currently using https://pool.dogechain.info. You'll hear a lot of people say to go with Dogehouse.org, its a great pool but its the largest one out there. with crypto currencies you dont want any one pool getting too large so its a good idea to try a mid sized pool. Just PM me if you have any other questions, dont want to thread jack this.

the way i see it is. $40 game and $30 controller and a free wii. I think the sale is still on
Mine local Target has it for 140 :P but thats how I look at the Wii Mini. It comes with Mario Kart (40 bucks), a wii mote (30) a nunchuck (20), so your just paying the 15 for the system

So, my recent finds have been pretty decent. These are from Tuesday.
(http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/finds-2014-02-04_zpsd7e42c26.jpg) Doom Unrated Extended Edition DVD - $2 Kogado Collection - Power Dolls Original Soundtrack (Taiwan release) - $1
That Power Dolls CD... is weird. I thought it was a bootleg, but apparently it's an official, authorized release made by Hwaei International, the company that released Power Dolls (a Japanese futuristic strategy / war sim with naked girlies) in Taiwan. This didn't include the Obi strip so I don't know if it was a pack-in soundtrack or if it was sold separately. Another weird find for the collection...
I also picked up a SNES deck with two controllers, but no A/V cables or AC adapter, for $9. I couldn't find the power brick, so now I have to find one somewhere. I mostly grabbed this to test some... hardware... I have lying around. Once I do that, I'll sell the system. No picture 'cause I forgot about it. :P
Today's finds: (http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/finds-2014-02-05a_zps9222c325.jpg) Spider-Man (PC game) True Crime: Streets of LA (PC game) Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (GBC cart in case) $9. The Mario's gonna be up for sale or trade.
(http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/finds-2014-02-05b_zps312bd970.jpg) Hori Fighting Stick EX2 - it's missing the breakaway cable, but I -think- I have one somewhere. $7.
I also picked up some games for reselling but I'm gonna keep mum about those. I don't want people to get angry at me. :(

If you guys haven't noticed, I'm a strictly physical gamer/collector. I'm not sold on the digital age of gaming. But if it's anything like digital movies or music, I don't think I want a part of it. I knew this lady who used to store and download digital HD movies into some cloud storage or something. She loaded up on Disney movies for her kids; Lion King, Jungle Book and so forth. So one day she was attempting to play The Lion King and poof it was gone from her cloud along with probably 10 other movies. She said Disney had some contract dispute or rights dispute/legal matter and a portion of their movies were removed from her collection. She was so pissed because she paid for these. They were also a little cheaper than a DVD/Blu Ray. She emailed Disney and said they could not do anything for her. I have also heard of issues similar to this with other store and digital movies. Ever since, she only buys physical movies DVDs.
Do these type of issues or similar one's occur with digital gaming? I'm not going to switch to digital but I am curious of the pro's and con's of digital gaming. I read VG posts every day where you all mention something about some digital gaming but I am completely lost lol.

chances are the movies were pirated. i know a lot of these clouds have to delete copyrighted material by law. games tend to go to a dedicated server by xbox, playstation, steam, origin etc and because of this they should be fine
but i would rather have a disc any day if the week

I havent removed all the digital stuff from my collection ... but then again its not a huge collection anyhow. I got a couple of games on my Wii VC (Ys Books I&II and FF mystic quest. All the ones I have a physical copy of as well I removed from my collection on here) and the Marvel pinball game on the PS3. Physically they arent mine to sell/loan out/etc but technically they cant take them away from me so I count them as part of my collection.

For me part of the point of tracking my collection is to see when I bought games and for how much. The fact that it is digital only doesn't change the fact that I bought it.

These were digital hd. Sometimes you can buy a dvd combo pack with a digital hd disk or download it straight from net. These that she got was directly from Sony. Sony has a list of movies you can buy from them in digital hd. It was legit from Sony but she's had movies come up missing out of no where. I've heard of this multiple times but it could only be with movies.
I guess my take on digital gaming is, I dont want to spend any time downloading a game, and i dont want the inconvenience of filling up memory and having to delete or switch sd card of hard drive or however it is done. I like the convenience of having the game to play at any time with popping it in and playing :)

I've got to show this to my wife and maybe she will surprise me on my bday with all these gifts.
You make me want to do a video man. I'm scared to do one tho'.
If it's okay I quoted you on my left side forums text under my avatar. And If I am over complimenting, sorry but I am a huge fan of your videos now

Thanks. I have fun doing these. I'm not going to edit or even watch these videos before I put them up. It takes out some stress of trying to make it perfect.
I've been on the lookout for the Jetsons for nearly a year. Back in the 2014 collecting goals, I said this was 1 of the 2 games I would get this year. Wacky Races is the other one. The Save Your Change Folks v3.0 is coming up, and Daddy's got a whole mug full of change.
I played Alien vs. Predator for a while this evening. I like it. I was really hoping for something closer to the arcade game, but I like Beat 'em ups. It's fun.
I didn't figure anyone would notice the haircut either.

Yea those Hanna Barbera and Disney NES games have a passion in my heart and a big nostalgia factor for me from playing them as a kid and I would like to get them all one day. Its like, I want to save up to get wacky races, jetsons, chip n dale 2, duck tales 2, etc. CIB; however, with the price of those, I think it's better to might as well save up for the big dog The Flintstones ya know...
Oh, I wanted to mention that the Alf SMS is a very cool find :) And Contra, I unfortunately, sad to admit, have never played. You're persuading me to want to give it a try one day.

Picked these up last night while hunting for games. Bravely Default Collector's Edition took FOREVER to find, but I was lucky enough to track one down that didn't have a name on it. While out an about I also snagged the other games; paid close to $20 combined for Ikaruga, the GC memory card and Buffy.
If you have 8 1/2 min and want to look at my beautiful mug, have I got the thing for you! It's a shitty pickup video!
I liked it. I subscribed! It makes it more interesting since we know you. But you don't have to keep downplaying it and acting like you're annoying the viewer, we wouldn't be watching it if that was the case. One more thing, give just a smidgen more screen time for some of those games. You flashed some of those so fast, you couldn't see the cover or label at all.
Noticed the accent. Where are you from? Tennessee area?

His videos make me want to start my own series with no editing or anything. Very motivational. And Turf's downplaying of his videos is a marketing tool. That's how he gets people to watch it ;)

I can't seem to see Turf's video for now, so that'll have to wait until later :-\
I just wanted to add to the "not counting digital games" conversation with this: I don't count my digital games in my "total games" count, but I do list them here because I like to know everything I have. I just don't list them in my own spreadsheet (yeah, I keep a separate file; I use it to know exactly how many games are in my collection, according to my standards!)
And I'm still waiting for my Bravery Default CE, since it's from Amazon it should be here by Monday, but nobody's gonna be home before 6:00 PM, so I guess I'll have to wait until Tuesday to get it... I've got NO time to play it, but I'll try to. People are getting me excited to play it :o

North Central Arkansas, but you're real close. I was flashing the games up quick because I didn't want it to drag on. I had a ton of stuff to get through and was trying to stay under 5 min. You guys give me way too much credit about having a marketing strategy. I'm doing this because I thought it was fun. If someone wants to watch it, that's just a bonus. I'm taking request by the way. I appreciate all the feedback though. It'll help this thing get better.
Look over in the Classic Game category. There's going to be more to look at there.

Actually I won these on ebay a couple weeks ago and they just arrived from the Netherlands! I need to find a cheap frame for them so I can hang them up in the game room.
Any of our overseas friends able to translate the bottom text for me? Google Translate is being annoying.
If you cant get them translated, I know someone who should be able to do it.
Those stickers are pretty nice. Wonder how you found those things!
Oh ya...
Soera pointed me to them on ebay. >_>

Seriously though, I grabbed it for the older games and Mac emulators that don't play nice with the 360 pad's XInput.

I added a really cool piece to my collection recently, the Super Famicom Memory Cassette Version of Wizardry Gaiden IV (http://vgcollect.com/item/54993). Nintendo Power had a service in Japan where you could download games to memory carts and get them for a cheaper price. This also solved a mystery for me as I could not find a release of Wizardry: Story of Llylgamyn for the SFC anywhere, but it was actually only released through the Nintendo Power service. The game also came with this small guide:

Thanks to a tip from a writer at SEGA Addicts, I decided to check out my local Gamestop for sweet 360 deals. They are certainly trying to clear shelf space.
Picked up: Forza 3 (needed it to complete the set. And I love Forza) Terminator Salvation (Most probably horrible. But I like Terminator games based solely on the franchise) Deadly Premonition (Been looking for it for a while. Yay, Twin Peaks!!)
Honestly, my heart kind of skipped when I saw Deadly Premonition. I've been looking for it for a while. So, excited to play it!
The Gamestop dudes made fun of my purchases as always. I always love that. I'm not saying that sarcastically either. I love when they say, these are an "interesting" selection of games. This selection I thought was pretty standard too.

Mildly interesting slice of life that I want to share about Bionic Commando. When it came out, I worked in a small video games store. The boss bought a crapload of copies of Bionic Commando because he was certain that it would be THE game of the decade. In the end, we sold so few, we had to sell all of them at quite some loss. 2 years later when I quit working there, they still had a lot of copies collecting dust, unopened, on the shelves.
Glad to see that people are gaining interest in it after all these years :P I myself don't know if it's good or not, as I don't like the xbox family. But the game looked so pitiful, all alone, that I'm happy it gets some love anyway :P

bikingjahuty - where do you live? I agree that your thrift stores are amazing!
Most stores around here wouldn't even have those games and if they did they would be $9,000 to purchase all of those. My local stores literally take the going Ebay price and add about 75%.

Some nice pick ups came in the mail this week and one from a local store.
PS3 - Afrika thanks to ffmaniac2050 pointing this game out as a rare game, after reading that post I knew I saw that game somewhere in town and went and picked it up.
PS1 - Cho Aniki This is one of the weirdest games ever to come out of Japan. I had to see it for myself. lol
GEN Panorama Cotton (english reproduction)
NES - Dusty Diamonds All-Star Softball - Waynes World - Dropzone (EU) Down to only 7 missing NES games (not counting holy grails) 8)

I live in the Denver area, and most of our thrift stores suck too, but there are a few indi ones that I still check out because they don't overprice games. I also go to one ARC in town that still gets good stuff in, and it's where I actually found the Pokemon GC games and Kingdom Hearts. But as I said, 95% of all the thrift stores around here are just as bad, I don't even waste my time with Goodwill anymore.

Picked up One Piece: Romance Dawn today, making this game number 5 purchased in the last week.
In order:
Bravely Default - Collector's Edition Dragon Warrior ((yes yes, I already have this. My instruction book is taped together, and I figured I wanted an extra shiny copy) with tons of extra goodies and what not, where did that card thing come from? I know it wasn't in either I or II, as far as I know...) Nobunaga's Ambition - Rise to Power PS2 Dark Cloud PS2 (Replacement...I lent this to a "friend" who never returned it. This was over 10 years ago, so I figured I could go ahead and replace it. :P I enjoy the series. One Piece: Romance Dawn (the limited one, has a shiny slipcover with a serial #)
I'm currently stalking a few eBay auctions as well, so this may grow~
Edit: Add Dragon Warrior Monsters to that. :P

I finally got my Bravery Default CE! Anybody knows how to deal with Amazon's replacement policies for limited edition items? (The inside is even worse than the outside, so I'd love a replacement if they can offer it).
Yikes mine got slightly indented on the back but nothing I would complain about but I would contact Support ASAP if I was you

I've heard a lot of good from Amazon's policies, so I'll contact them. I'm just really unsure about how much they can do, since they probably have no more copies left... But I'll never know if I never ask!
EDIT: They indeed couldn't exchange my item, so they offered me a partial refund. I'm happy with that result!
Glad to see you got something Karyann. Hopefully it was enough to make it worth it.
Well, money's tight these days, so I'm seeing the bright side of life: if I had a perfect condition box, I'd have less money in my pockets. :P I had a great customer service, and I didn't even expect any kind of refund, so that went pretty well.

Kinda shitty in one way and nice in another. I know I would have been saddened if it was me. They really should ship things like that in cardboard and not envelopes.
Title: Re: February 2014 - Recently Added to Collection/Recently Purchased
Post by: karyann on February 12, 2014, 03:17:25 pm
Funny thing is, they did ship it in a box. But the shipping box was opened on both ends (it was not sealed, so anybody could take what was inside), and the game was completely loose in the box (no newspaper or anything to keep it from sliding everywhere in the shipping box). And when I put my thumb on the big crease, my hand fits almost perfectly in the other creases, so I guess that it isn't shipping (however poor it was) that damaged it, but poor handling when packaging it.
I'm still sad in a way, but I try to be happy instead :P

I don't buy stuff from Amazon often for that reason.
They once sent a comic book TPB in a box that was two feet long, one foot wide, and six inches tall. And all that it had inside was the book and some paper! They SUCK at packaging things properly.
So, finds...
(http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/finds-2014-02-12a_zpse4876632.jpg) The PS1 games were a buck each.
Flashback for CD-I confuses me. I bought it to trade away, but I can't find ANY EVIDENCE of this game being released in the US! All I can find is pictures of European versions. But the box and manual have ESRB artwork... so what the heck?
Ignore that CD. :p

Hopefully. My stupid scanner sucks.
Apparently someone on eBay from Georgia sold one of these for $20 last December. I'll eventually sell or trade it but I'll keep it around for the time being, don't worry.

It is called the Treasure Box and it's a compilation of Mega Drive Treasure games. Gunstar Heroes is the headlining game, but it also has Dynamite Headdy and Alien Soldier on it. I honestly bought it for Alien Soldier because that game was never released in North America.

Oooooh, nifty! I'll have to start making a list of games to import. But I should learn more Japanese first, too!
It helps, but at least if you are into less story driven games like SHMUPS, action, fighting and beat'em ups, you don't need to know any Japanese to play them.

Dragon Warrior was like the first of it's kind on consoles. It is the father of console JRPGs. So back then, this was a brand-new concept for a lot of people playing it. The entire way the game was played was new to many. People did really need this stuff, despite how basic the game is, because of that.

That as well :p. Although funny enough, I played the Genesis version way more, which is more of an action platformer than a beat em' up. The SNES version is vastly superior and less infuriating.

It's yet another generic PlayStation Guncon / Justifier clone. I grabbed it since it was cheap ($3), and well, since it's smaller than the usual guns you find for the system.
I think I have like 15 different guns for PS1 / Dreamcast now. :P
I'm not even sure how I'm gonna use this - I hook up my systems via S-Video!
Edit: Or I can just remember I got an answer a while back (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?163311-guncon-s-video-question).

It was nice around here today. So, me and the wife set out to look for stuff. I bought a bunch of shit I didn't need, and a few things I did.
I bought a GameCube for $1. No hookups or controllers, but it was a buck. I got another dreamcast, another N64, 4 GBAs and a partridge in a pear tree.
On a positive note: I picked up Bad News Baseball, RoadBlasters, Yo Noid, and 3 other NES games I can't name right now for $3 each. The only double was Yo Noid! I know a dude looking for it though.
I also got a Boxed PowerPad for $10.
I love looking for games.
My wife wouldn't let me film her, so there's no video of the trip. :(

I almost did something similar this weekend. I haven't been spending money on anything lately (except a couple preorders) and today I almost went out on a PS2 game hunting binge. Luckily I had a party to go to for my grandpa's bday and was there til about an hour ago playing wow cards.
If not, I would have prolly spent all the loose cash in my pocket today. Which I can't do, since I'm behind on bills. I guess that's addiction for you, haha.

Very Nice Pickups! You can't beat a $10 SNES and $3 games! Nice find.
I grabbed the Download of Dante's Inferno on Xbox 360 for $3.74 this morning. I've been wanting to play that one, but just never could turn loose of the cash for the disk.

Very nice! Everything there are spectacular pick-ups! Loving the SNES choices. And Link Between Worlds is the best Zelda game I've played since Minish Cap!
BTW, the $10 SNES in your post before this one is helluva steal! I've had a cousin that's been holding out for a cheap one for a year and a half, and finally broke down and just bought the $50 one at the local used movie shop.
Wait, there's a 25th anniversary issue of EGM out?! Is that the current month's issue? Looks like I'm heading to Barnes & Noble after work today!

Yes, its out now. Ends march. I actually got the magazine from Toys R Us. They have 3 different choices. It's a 4 different covers you can choose. I believe mine is 1 of 4. I grabbed it because its the first gaming magazine I have seen in any retail store since all of last year :)

I would recommend to get it from Target because its the same price (19.99) at any retailer; however, with Target, you get the special collectors pin which is pretty cool and very nice :)
Moreover, I just got Sin And Punishment for the Wii at Gamestop for 10.00 and Divine Divinity for the PC complete at the thrift store for 4.00. It will just sit on my shelf forever until I get a gaming pc if I ever do lol

I actually ordered that from eBay back before Christmas. I just remembered to add them. Sonic is fun. I like Neo Turf Masters and Bust-a-Move the best.

Had some cool stuff come in the mail this week. Including a rare new console. 8)
SNES - Bahamut Lagoon (english reproduction)
NES - Wacky Races ;D Only 6 games left to go (not counting holy grail games)
And last a new rare console, a Commodore CDTV This system sold for 999.99 back in 1991 and sold poorly (gee I wonder why) This is a US Model and only game I have is a copied game. Defender of the Crown. It supposed to be able to play most Amiga games including the CD32 games, but I tried every CD32 game i own and all of them won't play. I think I need the ram expansion to play them. Not a big deal.

Working on grabbing some of the more obscure JRPGs I missed on the PS3 before they start getting hard to find. Picked up the first 2 Hyperdimension Neptunias along with a copy of Deadly Premonition, all like new, using a b2g1 coupon at Gamestop last week. Ordered the CE of Hyperdimension Neptunia 3 from someone on ebay since the price hasn't gone up from what it started at yet (I think I paid $9 over the original price) and it was also complete & like new (the game itself & soundtrack are both still sealed).
Question, what's the code for putting the last 5 you added in your sig?

Every time I see it, I kinda want to buy it just because it seems too silly. Please report back if you try it :P
I just Started playing it about 40 minutes into Saki's story and from What I can tell Dynasty Warriors + Zombies + Devil may cry's kill the whole room before progressing + Girls= this game
one thing I will Praise it for is the sword gauge as you kill zombies it will fill causing less damage and making it harder to swing until you flick the blood off

I feel they're a must for RPG's/ Big world games for the map alone, and if you really want to try to 100% a game. (I'm trying to 100% Adventure 2 so having those little tricks in the guide do help with that)

The only game I truly felt I needed the strategy guide for was Morrowind. The characters/journal give you vague directions. The map gives you general idea but often isn't precise. And there's not fast-travel in Morrowind.
And before I had access to the internet, wrestling games. Some of those moves were pretty complicated.

Well, if you count every model and color variety, then its too many to list. lol
But if I only count system platforms not counting different models. 15 And only 2 of those are US consoles. lol
Then There's another 15+ model variations of systems I already own that I'm currently on the hunt for at a good price.
This is a pic i made of every console I hope to have in my collection one day and there's only 35 consoles I'm still missing that are pictured here. There's a couple I missed but this has 95% of every console and models ever made (not counting color variations or slight changes) (https://scontent-b-iad.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/t1/1379881_564930706913693_1307735884_n.jpg)

I stumbled across a used copy of Dark Souls at lunch at a nearby GS in the Prepare To Die tin. Was only $11, so I snatched it. Tin looks to be in pretty good shape, but it needs cleaning - I'll know better tonight how much is clean-able and how much (if any) is damage. Unfortunately that & the slipcover is all it had - no artbook, and not even the actual game case/manual. But that's ok, I'm gonna trade just the disk in to Best Buy after work where they'll give me $10.50 for it. So .50 for the tin, and then I can grab a new copy of the game at another GS for $15 this week. I'm very happy with that find. :)

I picked up a copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for PC for $2 yesterday. I also picked up the Outlaw Volleyball (http://vgmdb.net/album/10644) soundtrack for $1.
Today... I got a copy of Drunken Robot Pornography for free from the dev! Yes, it's a game. :P Imagine a bullet hell shooter redone as a first person shooter. With lots of humor. Your bartender (a robot) got drunk so he torched your bar, took 12 other robots, made giant bodies for them, and then they decided to start torching Detroit. And you're their owner. You have to stop them. That's the game!

I have a room that's pretty much wall to wall games, I have shelves all along just below the ceiling that displays some of them, and have several clear display cases that house many of the rarer stuff. Then I have a several shelves just over the HDTV that has most of the common used consoles.
I picked up a copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for PC for $2 yesterday.
Not a very great game. It's like a more limited, smaller version of Order of the Phoenix.
I dunno, it was only two bucks. :P
I'm also ticked off a bit. Apparently we're supposed to be able to activate the game on Origin, but the key doesn't work. EA removed the game from their list of games that can be activated there so I think I just got boned. :(

I was at a GS I don't usually frequent today when I saw a complete copy of Atelier Meruru in excellent condition. I probably would have held off if that had been all, because although I needed it for my collection I wasn't actively looking for it - but then I saw they also had the artbook stuck in the front of a blank case for a second used copy they had. I grabbed the artbook, put it with the complete copy & used a 20% off coupon to get it for $22 after tax. I thought that was a pretty good deal. :)

Matt, our friend Jeremy (jerermy on vgc) and I went out to a bunch of game stores today. I ended up snagging a few titles off of my wishlist, a couple of which replace games I'd previously traded off. A couple look like they had cases swapped w/ Sports games (holo sticker), which will need goo gone to help remove. But they had years of stickers all over them too so they'll all need cleaning up. I snagged the following:
PS2 - These put me 5 away from 100 PS2 games!
Alter Echo Crazy Taxi Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 Mad Maestro Ring of Red State of Emergency Virtua Fighter 4 War of the Monsters Xenosaga Xenosaga II
We also discovered a variant in the field. Apparently there is a copy of City Crisis for PS2 that has no game title on the spine. All in all it was a fun day! I feel like I made out really well. All this stuff cost about the price of a new current gen game. :)

First of all grats to Scott for almost getting 100 ps2 games, I hit my 1000th game last year. Ring of Red is a great game btw, one of those hidden gems.
Here's my pick-ups for the week. Including a new rare console.
PSP - Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner - Hexyz Force (These 2 games are shooting up in price so I grabbed them up)
3DO - Brain Dead 13 (just missing long box)
SNES - Blues Brothers
SFAM - Cho Aniki (CIB) (after buying Cho Aniki on PS1 I discovered a fighting version of this weird game.)
And last picked up a Sears Video Arcade II, Its was the last of the Sears Atari 2600's. Gotta love the joysticks and paddles built into one. :D
I just got another extremely rare game console that I got for less then a tenth of the going price I've seen it go for. what is it? I'll post it a picture when I get it. ;)

I'll admit I probably went overboard in the GS PS2 clearance sale, but the PS2 is my favorite console so I couldn't help myself. ;) In all the stores I hit tho (at least 6) the ONLY one that had any cases at all had Guitar Hero cases. So you lucked out!
And 1,000 PS2 games? Wow, I knew there were a lot - of course, I'm assuming those are from multiple regions, right? Anyone know how many US PS2 games there are total? I currently have 273, and I'm nowhere near a full collection. Not really trying for one honestly, but I would like to get all of the RPGs & survival horror games for it that were released in the US. That sale helped a good bit with those goals.

All 1000+ games are US releases, there was 2,016 retail games released for the PS2 in the US alone. I only own 1 Japanese PS2 game atm. If you add the Japanese only releases you'll add another 500+ games or so. I believe PS2 holds the record for most games released for any console.

How many of those are complete? If it's a significant amount of those you must have a crazy game room. :D
Just to make use of some of mine, my wife and I have talked about starting a YouTube channel where we grab one - preferably something we've never played - pop it in & record 15-30 mins of us just playing it & discussing what we think about it. But I need a good game capture device first, and haven't quite figured out what's the best bang-for-the-buck on one yet.

You see part of it everytime I take a photo of my finds. The good games are on the shelves and the crappy games like sport and kids games are stored away. Many (i'd say 20%) of them are still sealed.
Next to the PS2 games is a near complete PS1 collection. 1249 games (only missing 46 games) Above that are Dreamcast games, next to that is Neo Geo CD games then the T16 games and then CD32, VIS and PC Engine and Saturn Imports.
Ugh... I went to load up War of Monsters and... The disc was missing. Now I need to go back to the store tomorrow and see if the disc is there.
I hate it when that happens, You think that is bad, I recall buying a Brand New sealed PS2 game once and when I opened it it had no disc. Timesplitters if I recall, thank god the store let me replace it.

DS Drawn To Life Family Feud: 2010 Edition
Gamecube The Incredibles
GBA Rebelstar: Tactical Command
NES Ghostbusters Mega Man 2 Othello Wrecking Crew
PS1 Billiards Burstrick: Wake Boarding Card Games
PS2 Kuon Sonic Mega Collection Plus
PSP Ape Escape: On The Loose Lumines Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade
Saturn Myst
SNES Star Fox
Wii Sherlock Holmes: The Silver Earring
Xbox 360 Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures
Pretty good! A bunch of filler, some essentials, and several pretty cool things.

Last week, I coordinated renewing my membership for "PRO" @ GS (shit...I figure that for -$17, even if I never used it for anything else (which I *do*)...getting a another year's subscription to GI for $17 is still pretty damned cheap (even w/ the magazine's expected bias - the magazine *IS* Owned by GS, after all). :o
Anyways...combining my points & coupon for renewing + another coupon that I'd printed out at home ($10 off of any used game)...I walked out of the store with a CIB copy of Bioshock Infinite for just under $3 ;D

Had that happen with Maximo on the PS2. One of the very, very rare times I bought a game at Wal-Mart. Opened it in the parking lot, saw it was missing and went right back in. The customer service lady kept acting like I was trying to pull something.

Ha, um, crap.
I bought a minty Metroid Prime for Gamecube thinking that I had the Player's Choice version... and it turns out I had the version with the Prime 2 bonus disc.
Oops. Oh well. Into the trade pile it goes...

Not much of an addition this month but games I bought did lower my Wish List count... Plus, I didn't really feel like spending much this month considering I am saving money for an OLED Vita.
PlayStation: Ogre Battle: March Of The Black Queen
Dreamcast: Record Of Lodoss War

I did a silly video of the adventure. Check my thread for the video. It's on 8+ min. Check it out.

I was so excited for this game. Love Diablo-style gameplay, and I loved the anime.
But I when I got it I was sorely disappointed. One of the WORST grind-fest games I've ever played. Takes sooooo long to get strong enough to move on after you get past the initial dungeon and graveyard section. The cutscenes looked really cool, though.

Beautiful :) I forgot this came out. Is this a special exclusive Gamestop version?
Nope, it was sold at several retailers (Amazon & direct from Namco I know, I think Best Buy as well). It was sold out pretty much everywhere, but you never know if it will pop back in stock someplace. Might want to check a local Gamestop in a couple of days too, if someone doesn't pickup their preorder you might can snag one that way. It's a super nice set, definitely one of the best CE's I've seen.

I'm sitting over here crying right now. Just sayin~ ::stalks GameStop::
I might just do that too... (both the crying and the stalking). I'm kicking myself so much for not seeing it sooner, it's got to be my favourite CE in a while, and Tales of Symphonia happens to be my favourite RPG :( I'll hope that Gamestop has one!

I have a giant soft spot for ToS, old cosplay and all. :) I've wanted to read the book for awhile, too, so it's worth it to me. I'm going to do some calls this evening and check with my local stores, my mom is going to have to get it for me if they have one, as I'll be at work at 9/10am when they open. :/
I will let you know, definitely! :)

I never got into any of the Tales games before Vesperia this gen, but now it's one of my favorite franchises. So I'm really looking forward to playing through Symhonia. I played some of it back in the day on the GC, but didn't get that far.
Anyway, question - is the novel supposed to be read before or after playing the game(s)? Does anyone know?

I'm back after a little while of not posting on here much!
I actually put up a bunch of games on kijiji for sale, and I bought a whole ONE game so far (in almost a week). People are cheap and won't pay half the current going-prices of games, it seems. So right now I have a removal in my collection, which is Bomberman Second Attack.
But to compensate for that... for whatever reason I bought a PS4... YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. No games for it... Well technically I have Assassin's Creed 4 and Call of Duty Ghost, but technically I put them on sale already and technically won't ever play them :P
Got it preemptively because, if I sell the games, it's actually a good deal, and I'll not have to wait long to play inFamous.

I just preordered Resident Evil 4 HD for PCs. It cost me $13.60 after store discounts and credit.
Unfortunately I won't get a key until the game actually launches. Which means I can't preload the game. Let's hope they don't pull another "64bit only your OS sucks" thing again.

This came in the mail yesterday, bought it on auctionsite for like 1.5€. I'm not that bothered it's not any box or manual. I just want the games! The only thing I did not like was that they just sent it like that, in the cover under it. Not in any case. Luckily the disc managed. Loved the demo when I was younger, replayed it lots of times, and later got this game burned to play on my sisters modded PS1.
Now to find something safer to put the disc in.

Windows 8 was made for tablets, and it really shows. In the 6 month experience I've had, almost nothing was compatible, even software that said it was compatible. I've never had as many issues with an OS in my whole life, and I've seen many OS. But I have to give it credit, too; Windows 8 is part of the last push I needed to completely dump Microsoft and jump on being 100% on Linux. The other part is Microsoft's greed for your personal information and privacy.
Finally got my copy of DQX in from Japan. I cant play it so Ive been casually looking for a cheap used copy. Cant complain about $10 shipped.
Not bad! Don't want to get a IP changer to try it out? (Admittedly, don't know if that would work.)

I hit up Big Lots tonight to see if they had anything left with their 75% off video game clearance. Came away with these:
James Noire's Hollywood Crimes (for my wife) - DS - $2.50 Midnight Club LA Complete - PS3 - $4.75 Aragorn's Quest - PS3 - $2.50 Lucha Libre Heroes Del Ring - $2.50 Wappy Dog - DS - $0.62 :P
Wappy Dog has been a running joke between my wife and I ever since we watched part of Giant Bomb's quicklook of it. She told me if we ever found it cheap we'd have to get it. It was marked $15, so I figured assuming it was 75% off that would come to $3.75 and that would be good enough. When she said .62 I laughed, and just said "well yeah, won't get much cheaper than that!"
EDIT: How is it possible that no one had added Wappy Dog to the database already?!?! Madness!! :P

It's official: my dog HATES Wappy Dog. Thing freaked her out, she hid the whole time my wife was playing with it. :D Already got my .62 worth out of it. ;) BTW they had a huge stack of the things, so if you have any interest in it & have a Big Lots nearby you might want to check them out (they also had some good games so, y'know, there's that too ;) ).
