So, this has long been an interest to me. Truly true, ultimate exclusives. Games that were only ever released in one place, ever. Never ported, never revived, never revisited, never re-released. Games that appeared one time, in one place, and outside of emulators (which DO NOT COUNT in this), can only be played on one platform, ever.
So, I'm looking for games like Uniracers, in essence. It was released on the SNES, and never released anywhere else, and will likely never be released anywhere else, including Nintendo's Virtual Console because a lawsuit with Pixar put an early end to the game. It is an exclusive in the truest sense of the word. It exists in one place, on one platform.
If there are enough good posts to this, I may keep an update of the first post with a list of all titles mentioned.

I'm looking for something far, far more limited. A lot of X360 "exclusives" are on PC or Xbox, or Xbox One. Microsoft is especially notorious for talking up an "exclusive" that ends up somewhere else. A lot of PS3 "exclusives" are also on Vita, PS4, and even PC as people disregard PC.
This is the deeper level of an exclusive. Older, in a sense. A game that appeared once and the odds of it ever appearing again are astronomically low, if not impossible.

Asterix was also on the gameboy and SMS

I believe that the 3 Shadow Hearts games (on the PS2)
and
its prequel, Koudelka (on the PS1)
all, sadlly (as I'd really love either a new SH game and/or an HD compilation/re-mastering of the series) fit your criteria.
Rule of Rose (PS2) is probably another one and, so is my favorite RPG of the 7th generation Cross Edge (PS3).

The majority of the Atari 2600 library.

Not only 2600, but pretty much everything released pre-crash.
Dino Wars isn't getting an XBone re-release anytime soon. (http://vgcollect.com/item/38002)

The majority of the Atari 2600 library.
There are a ton of Atari 2600 collections that have been released on pretty much every platform. I'm sure there are plenty of exclusives still there, but iunno if it's the majority of the library at this point.
Dreamcast:
Maken X
Samba de Amigo (there was a crappy sequel released on the Wii, but not the same game)
E.G.G. - Elemental Gimmick Gear
Evolution 1&2
Floigan Brothers
Heavy Metal: Geomatrix
Outtrigger
Record of Lodoss War
Seaman
Shenmue
Speed Devils
Super Magnetic Neo
Sword of the Berserk
I would also argue Power Stone 1&2, but some might count the PSP game that combined parts of both games.
PS2:
.hack (all 7 games)
Dark Cloud 1&2 (sadly... :()
Rogue Galaxy
Xenosaga 1-3
PS1:
Tomba 2 (English version)
Suikoden II (English version)
Tons more...

Metal Wolf Chaos for the Xbox. Not only is it exclusive to the Xbox, it's also exclusive to Japan. :P The game was developed by From Software, and even features full english voice acting.

The majority of the Atari 2600 library.
One may be forgiven for saying so, but a surprising number of those games found releases on the Intellivision, Colecovision, 5200, 7800, Spectrum, Commodore, or Atari computers. Since there was no solid licensing at the time, everyone was releasing games willy-nilly everywhere.
It's weird to look back, but the 2nd generation routinely featured releases today that would be the equivalent of Sony putting Uncharted on the Xbox 360, but making it super inferior just to make their console look better, but to make whatever money they could off the "suckers" with the "inferior" hardware.
But, the 2600 was also the popular console of the day, and received more titles. So yes, it has a lot of "found literally nowhere else" titles, but it also got a lot of crappy ports from elsewhere.

This just reminded me that Seaman was supposed to be getting a 3DS port. What the hell ever happened to that? There is also talk of the Xenosagas getting an HD release lately.
There is apparently a lot of stuff I need to look for on the Dreamcast...

Reminds me of Sin & Punishment for the N64. What a bizarre way to release a game.
Probably an indicator that a Western port had been planned, but never released.

I'm aware what "exclusive" means, but the other threads do make mention that the list of "exclusive" games is dynamic. What was once exclusive to a system could be ported at anytime to PC or PSN or any number of other methods of digital distribution.

Which is why I'm looking for non-dynamic "exclusives". Stuff like Uniracers where the odds of it ever being revived or ported are so low, it's safe to say it's never going to happen. Developed by devs whose doors have closed, rights issues lost to time, unknown modern ownership, messy rights or ownership split among too many places (like the N64 Goldeneye), or games that were killed by a lawsuit--like Uniracers.
The exclusives of the exclusives.
I was aware of those other threads--this is something different. Rarer, harder to find, more limited in release, even, in a sense, lost.
For instance, the original House of the Dead would qualify if it had only been released in arcades or on the Saturn, as the source code is apparently lost.

Ha, a low post-count does not mean I'm new to the internet or game collecting, or you know, life or something. Just to this site, which, sadly, I only just discovered. I don't need some silly loosey-goosey description of the possible use the word "exclusive" the way Microsoft throws it around (hint: if a game appears on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, and Windows, Microsoft will use the word "exclusive").
I saw those other threads. They do not meet the criteria I'm looking for. Or I would not have started this one.

Evilnick, I wasn't trying to undermine your thread - just wanted you to know, especially since there are so many similar threads floating around. But I hear what you're saying. It's tough criteria; I don't collect for older systems so as much as I'd also like to get together a list of exclusive games, I can't rely on the titles *staying* exclusive :-\

seriously now...wtf?!
Where did the whole "I'm no stranger to da interwebz" response/comeback/Paranoia 'thing' come from?! :o
Certainly *Not* from anywhere in that post of mine that you quoted.
I wasn't talking to/about you...or even *thinking* about you when I typed it ==>
==> It was pretty clearly & obviously simply me teasing another long-time friend, member, and regular here...
...This isn't the sort of place and/or community where you need to go reading into/inventing things like that --and-- if you simply can not resist doing such things...next time, don't be using one of my posts as your 'springboard' to do so ;)

Yep. The users of this site are pretty good at not giving a damn about e-peen or post count, and nobody here is going to make snide comments about your collection or your posts. If anyone does it'll be as a joke - I get cracks for collecting bad games and we used to tease one of our semi-founding forum members for his choice of PC games and for originating one of our in-jokes (he doesn't post here as often but he was cool with that.)
So chill out, nobody's trying to offend people here.
And no, this isn't me talking like a moderator. This is a site vet trying to defuse a situation.

You're not. I just don't want anything to go any further than 'a new forum poster is bothered by a misunderstanding'. Better to explain what's up now than much later on.
We're all friends here. Mostly. :p

I largely viewed it as a misunderstanding. Like I said, I'm looking for stuff that makes the word "exclusive" actually mean something, the opposite of the way Microsoft uses it, which generally translates to "exclusive, er, so long as you don't count these other platforms, because we don't."
Actually, thus far, I've been pretty impressed by this site. People write in sentences, everyone seems eager and interested in collecting, and it's got to be about the only gaming site I've seen without fanboyism choking every thread. Why, it's almost like people came here to talk about exactly what the site says! Collecting video games!
If it seems that I went on a defensive, I apologize for that, as it was not my intention--but again, this isn't the first forum I've used, and in some places, that e-peen crap does exist.
This sparked an interest in me after reading about Uniracers on Wikipedia one day, and realizing that, for all intents and purposes, this was a unique game that will very likely never be readily available ever again, not even on future Nintendo hardware. A lot of older "exclusives" have moved on to other platforms over the years. For instance, formerly "exclusive" Alan Wake is on PC, formerly "exclusive" House of the Dead: OverKill appeared on PS3, and at this point, the original Super Mario Bros is hardly even a selling point since it's been on almost every piece of Nintendo hardware sans the N64 (I think it was technically playable on the GameCube).
Er, outside of emulators, of course. I don't count those.
-

I think you're right. I'm a little disappointed that Nintendo didn't do some sort of cash grab on the N64. Mario All Stars needs a new iteration every generation. :P
Edit: One more I forgot. The OG Gameboy didn't have SMB 1 on it. Other than that (with the help of the Game Boy Player) you can play Super Mario Bros. on every other piece of Nintendo hardware.

What about the Virtual Boy?
Actually, now that I think about it, isn't the whole Virtual Boy library exclusive?

What about the Virtual Boy?

That's tough to say. I wonder how similar the Waterworld game is to it's contemporaries at the time. But awkward consoles like the Virtual Boy and Vectrex and Microvision probably count well with completely exclusive libraries.
The difference with the Virtual Boy is that very few of those titles, to my knowledge, have to stay that way. Nintendo could handily bring back most of the library on the 3DS, and that they haven't always gets on my nerves. They've got a good 20 or more titles (depending on rights issues) that could be added to the 3DS. Maybe have Sega do the work. They seem pretty capable of 3D ports these days.
-
They would have to reprogram all games to not use that hideous red and black color scheme. It strains the eyes and just plain hurts to look at.
-
You can play SMB on N64 or GameCube?
-
You can't play SMB on a N64, but if you use the Game Boy Player in conjunction with the Gamecube, you can play Super Mario Bros. Deluxe from the Game Boy Color on there.
-
^ Clever.
You could also get a Tri-Star adapter for the N64, if you go that route.
-

If you're using the Game Boy Player on the GameCube, you may as well use the NES Classics version of Super Mario Bros on the GBA. It's a closer experience to playing the original on the GameCube.
-

I don't think they'd have to do that--they haven't colorized Game Boy games, for example. They went with red because it stood out more against the black background and created sharper imagery. I actually don't mind the colors as much as the horrible position I have to put my body in to play the Virtual Boy. I showed it to my son recently and we sat and played Virtual Boy games for an hour.
Ha, maybe they're waiting until Oculus Rift is out or the New 3DS to do it. It's all a crazy scheme by Nintendo--make sure the 3D works before putting Virtual Boy games on the thing, and then capitalize on the Oculus hype by showing "we totally did this back in the 90's--look how ahead of the curve we were!"
-

My cousin had it when we were kids. It's a pretty fun game if you can call any game on the 2600 fun. It'll keep you entertained for 20 or 30 seconds.

And best of all, I think Journey Escape fits this topic--it has only ever appeared on the Atari 2600 and seems to be a great candidate for the "extremely unlikely to ever appear anywhere else."

GBC games weren't designed with a color scheme meant to be used in a dark enclosed space - a Virtual Boy visor. Staring at the games themselves on a proper 3DS with the 3D effect on and light from outside bleeding into your view, it'll strain your eyes and that's something Nintendo really doesn't want to happen. :\

Right, that's a good point. There would have to be some kind of modification done. Virtual Boy games have existed in various forms of 3rd party emulation for a while. You'd think Nintendo could get them to work on the 3DS.

According to MobyGames, K.C. Munchkin appeared on three platforms: Munchkin at MobyGames (http://www.mobygames.com/game/kc-munchkin)
Which quickly answers a question I'd had for a while if the Odyssey2 was an entirely exclusive library. I guess know the answer to that now.
I'd never heard of Journey to Silius. That game looks cool. According to Wikipedia, the audio was programmed differently from the majority of NES games, so it supposedly sounds very different. I want to hear that.

Journey to Silius has the best music on the NES in my opinion.

Wasn't LJN an offshoot of Acclaim, same as Ultra was an offshoot of Konami, so that these publishers could sneak around the "games per year" limit Nintendo forced on the NES?

Nope! Some of those were multi platform games. And one (T2: Arcade SNES) was an arcade port too. :D Only some games would fit, like X-Men or Roger Rabbit on the NES.

Yup. It seems Nintendo wasn't the only one doing shady stuff in those days.
From what I read, they had no choice with Nintendo's draconian license policies. They couldn't make enough games to meet sales expectations because they were limited on how many games they were able to release in a year. And most of the time they weren't allowed to make ports to other consoles. So they made dummy corporations (like LJN & Ultra) to get around that.

I recognized these dummy corporations/corporate off-shoots when I was a skid because Acclaim and LJN had some fairly obvious links, and the Konami and Ultra brands shared everything from franchises to packaging designs and aesthetics. For instance, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games were both published under the Ultra and Konami branding.
When I was a kid, however, I didn't understand why these companies had these offshoots. It wasn't until I was an adult and learned of the crude contracts Nintendo used that they made sense.

Nope! Some of those were multi platform games. And one (T2: Arcade SNES) was an arcade port too. :D Only some games would fit, like X-Men or Roger Rabbit on the NES.
Dangit! Thats the 3rd time in this forum I've been proven wrong.

They've been ported and released on multiple platforms, including PS3, Vita, and PC. So they're not true exclusives. They've appeared elsewhere over the years. Aside from an early Windows release, they're exclusive to Sony, but they aren't what this thread is looking for.
Had Jet Moto literally only ever been released on the PS1, and no other platform, ever, and even unlikely then to appear anywhere else, then it'd be a true exclusive, pertaining to the thread.
