Title: What are your collecting goals for 2015?
Post by: jcalder8 on January 01, 2015, 09:55:41 am
First off here are my goals from 2014:
1. Make it to 3400 total games. I'll probably hit 3500 too ;D I beat this by about 500 lol
2. Buy my 600th 360 game. Only 14 more to go so that will be easy to finish Yup finished at over 640
3. Get to 50 Intellivision games. Hopefully the locals will be better this yearZero Intellivision games added :(
4. Hit 400 DS games. With the 3DS still growing I think I won't have much of a problem finding cheap games.Got this one too 425
5. Buy 7 more Neo Geo Pocket Color games to get to 10 total I'm ashamed that I completely forgot about this
6. Get to 100 SNES games. I am currently at 74 so with a bit of luck I'll be able to get there.I only added 3 games to this

Here is a link to last year's topic: http://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,4325.0.html

Goals for 2015
1. Buy 1 more Intellivision game
2. Hit 80 SNES games(currently at 77)
3. Hit 150 PS3 games(currently at 143)
4. Hit 30 TG16 games(currently at 27)
5. Buy my 675th 360 game(currently at 643)
6. Hit 50 3D0 games(currently at 45)
7. Be awesome!

So what are your goals for 2015?
Title: Re: What are your collecting goals for 2015?

-Finish my PS2 collection (only 3 games away)
-Get my PS1 want list to under 10 games (I still have 41 games on the want list)
-finish my Smash Bros Amiibo set (49 is the magic number)
-Add at least 10 new import Saturn games to my collection (added 0 in 2014)

I've mentioned this before, but my collection will be growing at a snails pace most likely from here on out. I have most of the stuff I want, with mostly only expensive and rare titles I still need. The only exception to this are a bunch of 7th gen games I'm still on the lookout for, but those still aren't at that sweet spot where they are very abundant and dirt cheap. Still, I can see myself adding at the very least 50 new games for the PS3, 360, or Wii this coming year :)

Here is my thread for both 2013 and 2014

"Lol I went back to the 2013 thread and this is what mine was :  my gaming goal is to get Suikoden II and Ni No Kuni. Thats it for now. Im not sure what will follow in the future.

Heh definitely accomplished that and then some. So this year is going to be a bit more in depth.

#1. First and foremost : Complete SMS set. Im pretty close already and I have some titles that were not released here as well (Bubble bobble, Forgotten worlds, Dragon crystal, Heroes of the lance, Dracula, etc). After all the stuff I have currently worked out and waiting on its arrival, Ill be down 11 games. Buster Douglas is definitely the kicker here. Not looking forward to that at all. Not only did I complete the US SMS set but I got all the games released in North America period! I also finished the entire 16 game kiosk set and I have purchased the final items for the blue release set and CIB accessories.

#2. 750 NES titles. Right now Im sitting around 715. I marked all the silly expensive ones off that I do not already own and that should hit me right where I want to be. Its a perfectly nice number and I would be absolutely satisfied not having those last ones. I didnt add too many to this but I did pick up some pretty good titles like Jetsons and Gun Nac. Ive decided to abandon this one. With the constant price increases on these, I simply dont see a reason to keep going. Also with the fact that I moved and dont have room to display them, I cant forsee me spending any money on games that are going to go into a box in a closet.

#3. PS4. I plan to get one but I just do not know when. With titles like Diablo III Ultimate edition, Elder scrolls online, and Everquest next all being slated for PS4, my ability to not buy one is pretty slim. I posted this last year before the DQ Heroes themed one was announced so not only did I get a PS4 but I got a really great special edition one!

#4. DS/3DS games. Im really enjoying this little thing. Ive never cared too much for portable systems but I feel differently about this one. Im hoping to find a lot more games to play on it. I have around 7-8 titles but I would like to be around 20 or so by the end of the year with all the main ones I want covered. I cant recall how many games I actually picked up but I do have all the ones I wanted covered. Hopefully this year Ill get some more (especially if they release Bravely Second, FF Explorers, Theatrhythm DQ, etc)
Im happy to see that 2 of the 3 wish items I had for this system has indeed been announced as well as plenty of other unexpected titles on the way. 3DS is very high on my list atm.

#5. PS3 controllers. I dont know what started me collecting them but it has happened. I now have 6 different colored official Sony ones. I ended up with 10 total : black, blue, camo, crystal, gold, grey, pink, red, silver, white. The only one I didnt pick up was the green but its cause I cant seem to find one with a green back"

Not too many goals to add this year.

#1. PS4. This system is definitely going to be my go-to for a while. Im looking forward to all the titles that will be released on this monster.

#2. Odds and ends. Ys I & II for Turbo, Rayearth for Saturn, my last issue of Sega newsletter, sealed Krull for 2600, last 2 cards for Hyper scan.

Updated as of 9/8.

I hadn't quite joined the community this time last year, so I don't have any previous goals to comment on. :)

1 ) Finish my PS3 Guitar Hero / Rock Band collection (only missing the 2 RB Country Track Packs)
2 ) Finish PS3 RPG collection (currently missing 25, including upcoming releases - some of those have rumored PS4 ports, so those would be removed from my list if that happens)
3 ) Hit 300 PS3 games (262 now)
4 ) In my Wii collection, focus on the first party games I'm missing
5 ) Ditto for my DS collection, I need to track down several first-party titles for it as well
6 ) Work on tracking down 360 exclusives I want before they start disappearing
7 ) Continue to work on my PS1 & PS2 RPG collections
8 ) And most importantly, PLAY MORE OF THE GAMES I HAVE!!! :D

Last year's goals weren't achieved, mainly because I removed from my collection the games that I don't own myself but are my family's. I took a drop in number, I'm at a little more than 350 total right now, but now the number is more accurate!

My big goals this year would be:
1- Reach 400 games. I think it will be hard, but doable.
2- Reach 50 3DS games.
3- Reach 100 Nintendo DS games. I don't think I'll make it, but it would be really fun to achieve!

As for this year, I'll complete the list I had started last month:

1- Get a Playstation 4 (this will be checked off the list very very soon... I got a shipping confirmation yesterday!)
2- Complete at least 3 Zelda games, ideally starting with the top of the chronological order
3- Have >10 Vita games
4- Bust either 50 3DS games or 100 DS games

Might add more as I see fit :)

Goals for this year (in no particular order):
-Get a WiiU
-Get a Retron 5
-Import more games exclusive to other regions
-Get more shmups
-Pass 100 games owned for my PS3
-Pass 50 games owned for my PSP (I'm halfway there now)
-Build up a decent PS1 collection before it gets too expensive to want to collect for
-Get the rest of the versions of all the games currently released in the Disgaea series (including spinoffs and ports)
-Get the rest of the versions of all the games currently released in the Hatsune Miku franchise, including importing the rest of the Japanese exclusives I don't have yet.

This is another good one:
6 ) Work on tracking down 360 exclusives I want before they start disappearing

Edit*
I forgot an important one :o
-Import a Bandai WonderSwan, WonderSwan Color, and SwanCrystal and plenty of games for them while they're still dirt cheap.

I can definitely add these to my goals as well.

My goals from last year:

Get CIB and original copies of all of my games (FAILED)
Get the games that I used to own that I don't anymore (FAILED)
Get a Wii U (FAILED)
Reach 500 games (Achieved, finished 53 games over)

For 2015:
Same as last year I guess. Just for reference, there are around 130 games in my collection that aren't complete/the original release, so I probably will not achieve it this year, but it's a goal nonetheless. There are also 97 games that I used to own that I don't anymore, so that is a stretch as well. Some other goals:
1. Get a Wii U (Hopefully I can get one this year!)
2. Get Silent Hill
3. Reach 100 PS1 games (I'm at 91, so this should be easy, especially if I can get some of my previously owned games)

My goals from last year:

Get CIB and original copies of all of my games (In progress)
Get the games that I used to own that I don't anymore (in progress)
Get a Wii U (in progress)
Reach 500 games (Achieved, finished 53 games over)
Fixed that for you ;)

My goals last year were:

1) Keep plugging away at the wishlist. (Down to double digits now) unfortunately I'm down to the pricier titles. down to 33 items!
2) Get a Sega CDX (a completely irrational desire because I have no Sega CD titles and have none in my wishlist. Although I do borrow some from time to time to play in my xbox) i am abandoning this goal. CDX prices have just gotten too inflated.
3) Get a 3DO with Demolition Man, Night Trap, Daedalus Encounter, Gex, and The Need a For Speed. (Also possibly an irrational desire since I don't know how much I'll actually play them. acheived halfway. Just need to get Gex, NFS, DE.

For 2015:
1) finish out my current wishlist.
2) create my own Homebrew title with my son.
3) get back into making YouTube videos regularly. (I have a review series in mind, I just need to sit down and do it. But I'm worried no one will be interested in more reviews).
4) play through the awesome backlog I've amassed.

2014 Goals

1. Be More Selective - Buy games that I really want and quit buying everything.  I'll still buy NES games, but Genesis, SNES, and the like will be pickier.
Other than buying a lot of Wii games, I did pretty good with this one.

2. Play more of my games.  I have too many of these great games that I just don't put to good use.
Still working on this one. I'm having a fantastic time doing it. 700+ NES games is a lot of games.

3.  This is the biggie.  I'm not joking at all about this.  I'm going to make a run at the World Record for Super Mario Bros speed runs.  I believe the record is just under 5 min.  As of today, I'm at about 7 min 40 sec.  I just need to keep shaving seconds off.  I've seen places that I can save time.  I don't really care if I get the recognition for it.  I just want to know I can do it.  If I get close, I'll start recording runs.  Don't you all want to watch as I blow through a game you know and love?

Got my time down to around 7:10, but didn't get close to the record. I watched videos on how to do it, but I don't want exploit glitches. I couldn't find a good glitch-less run (that I remember)

That last one wasn't a collecting goal, it just something I want to do.

*edit: 4. I want to get more games with Famicom adapters. Why?  I don't have a clue. It's just cool to me.

I found a couple, but I only wanted to find them in the wild. No eBaying these jewels.

2015 Goals

1) A complete licensed NES set (minus Stadium Events) This WILL Happen

2) Enjoy my collection and play more of these silly things.

I'm easy this year. It's just going to hurt my billfold.  :D

Not even going to look at what my 2014 goals are I just know that they were to double collections and find all the N64 games I wanted. All I can really tell you is that I ended up with more on my N64 list and brought it back down to the 4 I started my goal with. This year I want to get more focused on games I actually want and would really play and possibly condense a little. And get any 360/PS3/Wii games I want before a sudden spike in price.

2014 found me shrinking my collection more than adding to it. I made a conscious decision to not keep any game or system I absolutely would not play and so far so good, I'm sticking to it. That doesn't mean my collection is stagnant and I do have some goals:

Get an Atari 800 - this has been a goal for over 3 years now.
Get more homebrews (got 7800 Astro Blaster this past week)
Increase my Commodore 64 collection
Get boxed 2600 games that i don't have
Starpath Supercharger games
The biggest goal is to get a 386 or 486 PC and start collecting some big boxed DOS games

From last year, I completed most of my goals- Get at least 400 games, get 40 Gamecube games, Get a Wii U.
Now for this year-
-Hit 1000 games
Gamecube-  Get 200 games at least ( currently at 120 overall) Still going for that complete NTSC set, and other region exclusives.
Wii- Hit 175 games( currently at 108)
DS- Hit 111 games ( currently at 80)
3DS- Hit 50 games
More shmups
PS3 Hit 75 games
Dreamcast- Hit 50 games
Wii U games- Hit 50 games. Hopefully I can get lucky with some clearance finds for some of these games.
For 6th gen, look for multiplats only for Gamecube, PS2/Xbox games will only be for exclusives.
Find 7th gen exclusives before they become more expensive/unavailable
- Work on some more arcade 1cc's
I probably have more to add to this, but these are just my general goals for the moment.

3) get back into making YouTube videos regularly. (I have a review series in mind, I just need to sit down and do it. But I'm worried no one will be interested in more reviews).

Me too. My current computer runs Ubuntu and there's not a lot of great editing software available at all and my current capture device crapped out. Hard to find those that work with Ubuntu as well. These two things are hampering my video making abilities.

I'm thinking of getting some version of an iPad with iMovie to help out in this area.

I don't actively set certain long term goals or new years resolutions, but I am seriously considering instituting a collection block for 2015.  I have to reevaluate my monthly financials in order to make sure I can attain other important life maintenance goals, so I am toying around with the idea of no game purchases for 2015.  I am in no immediate danger of needing to sell off anything, but I have to keep ahead of other things.

Making no game purchases will be a major change for me, so I may have to build in a couple of 'fudge it' rules;  for instance, I currently have a couple of pre-orders that I have no intentions of cancelling.

I want to make a concerted effort to actually enjoy my collection over the new year.  I constantly have my free time stripped from me.  Hopefully this year, I can reclaim a bit of it, and dig through my back log, without piling more on top of it.

All of those 'must have' games in 2015 will still be there in 2016, and cheaper too.  Just trying to psych myself up here.

Complete N64 collection.  Sitting just over halfway at this point, but all the big ones aside from Sculptors Cut and Worms are out of the way, so its going to be a matter of mostly picking up > $10 games in bulk when possible.  I think having a complete N64 collection this time next year is very doable.  Not doing variants though.

I'm pretty sure that's where I'm going to go after I finish my NES set. People hate on the n64, but I think there's some pretty unique games on it.

No real goals for me, as I'll be watching my budget like a hawk so I don't end up in the same place I was in 2014.

But I will say, that I'll be focusing on PS2 pick ups more than anything. Plus new Persona/Etrian Odyssey games.

Buy more games that I want to play. That's really it.

I'd like to track down some of those Nintendo Power trading cards from the 90s, too.

So I guess a top 10 wishlist would be in order for my goals:

1. DuckTales 2 (NES)
2. Einhander (PS1)
3. Batman: Return of the Joker (NES)
4. Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones (NES)
5. Die Hard Arcade (Saturn)
6. Dynamite Cop (Dreamcast)
7. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)
8. The Adventures of Batman & Robin (SNES)
9. Lunar the Silver Star Complete (PS1)
10. RayStorm (PS1)

Goals for the year 2015:

-Get my PS3 collection to at least 100 games.
-Start my Nintendo 3DS collection.
-Buy a PS4 and have 15 games by the end of the year.

Not too bad for a rookie.

I really don't have any predetermined goals. I sort of come in and out of collecting certain systems. But here are some goals I would like to follow by.

. Grab some PS1 games while they are still cheap.
.PS2 Slim by end of the year.
.Get back into NES collecting.
.15 PS4 games by end of the year.
.Buy an Elgato to start streaming on Twitch.
.Buy more Strategy Guides.
.Reach Level 25 on Steam.

Avid on the computer is more of a pro-tool and very expensive. But on the ipad it's like a very feature rich iMovie and very easy to use.

It looks like Pinnicle purchased it so it's now called "Pinnicle Studio"

Will wind up cutting back significantly on gaming items due to a job change and the significant expense of building out my HD multicam live production rig.

I'm planning to concentrate on playing games more than collecting this year. That being said, I have two goal areas:

Collecting
Collect all Blizzard games for systems I own (SEGA/XBOX/Macintosh)
Begin collecting Id games for systems I own.
Concentrate on SG-1000 games. Slowly but surely.

Gaming
Beat the sonic trilogy + Knuckles (never did this)
Make 12 SEGA SG-1000 videos (one a month)
Begin building a site for Ages of SEGA (SG-1000 and pre SMS project)
Get a max level WOW character
Play through the StarCraft campaigns again.
Generally get better at all Blizzard games.
Hopefully make 2 Sega Genesis videos for Ages of SEGA. These will happen when they happen.

I've been playing a lot of Blizzard games with the girlfriend. I played way too much StarCraft as a kid. So, it is easy to get into. She was really into WOW. It's been fun.

Since I'm new here, I figured I'd start here...

Harvest Moon games (Across all platforms)
Mega Man games (Across all platforms)
25 NES games
25 SNES games

I don't know how many Harvest Moon games you already have, but a couple of them are kinda pricey these days, and there's a lot more than most people think. I finished my collection (and all the pre-order and regular plushies) a couple years ago and now can just pre-order and buy the newest ones.

I really wasn't missing that many to begin with and it took me a few years to get the ones I'd missed. An example: I had Harvest Moon GB and GBC 3, but I didn't have GBC and GBC 2. I wasn't willing to pay eBay prices, and I can tell you at which stores I finally found both of those. And waiting for a sheep, the one pre-order bonus plushie I'd missed when the game released, to come up on eBay for less than $30 took forever too.

That being said, if I can help, let me know!

For my collecting this year, I'd like to finish the NA Shin Megami Tensei releases. Finding Devil Survivor for the DS should be easy enough, so that just leaves Jack Bros. for the Virtual Boy. I already have the Japanese one, so I'm not going to pick it up unless I can get a steal on it. I only added a couple of Game Boys to my collection in 2014, so I wouldn't mind getting a few of those. It's getting harder as I'm getting all the common colors done though.

Also to finally to buy a PS3 and to get a bunch of RPG's for it.

I can totally appreciate @topspot123's goal to *not* buy any games for 2015.  I certainly can't do that, but I do want to be be better about keeping a budget for my purchases so I'm more aware of what I'm buying (and how much I'm spending on gaming).  It's been a little difficult because the bf is helping me with preorders (thank you, employee discount), but I'll just have to have him help me out with keeping track of it all.

I never have real collecting goals because I don't need any more incentives to throw money at the gaming industry.

Goals in general:
- Start collecting more Atelier titles
- Continue to find games that I used to own but don't have at the moment, including:
     * Valkyrie Profile
     * LostMagic
     * Dragon Quest Monsters: Rocket Slime (hopefully with the preorder keychain)
- Get a New 3DS XL modded and start streaming 3DS games
- Set up a better display area for the combined game collections
- Audit the collection again, and make sure everything is in VGC!
- Make sure everything in my collection has a full VGC item record with pics and all
- Replace Greatest Hits / Player's Choice titles with black labels

Beat the sonic trilogy + Knuckles (never did this)

You've never beaten the original Sonic games? What kind of SEGA kid are you?

Are you going for 100% Chaos Gems or just beaten?

I've actually scaled back on collecting a bit to focus on some student loan debt I've gotten tired of carrying. This'll probably change once the summer hits and flea markets are a thing again in my area. I guess we'll see!

Ah...goals for this brand-new year.   ;D

Knock 40 PS1 games off my hit-list which is around 61 right now.  I currently own 98 complete games.

Knock out about 30 PS2 games.  I have most of the one's I want around 145 or so right now.

Knock out the last 14 (or so) games I still want for the PS3.

Reach 50 total PSP retail titles.

Inside these goals, I want to finish up my Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon series which are some of the #'s above.

As for new games, I picked up Dying Light Tuesday and I'm pretty sure I will be purchasing Batman Arkham Knight, The Order 1886, Bloodborne, Uncharted 4 A Thief's End and about 6 more PS4 titles.  Now that I picked up the PS1 Final Fantasy set and am actively looking for the PS2 and PS3 titles, I will probably end up getting FF Type-O for the PS4 as well.     :P

I know, right! I'm going for the 100%. We'll see with work though...

I find the Sonic games to be really hard, I can't keep up with the speed, must be all the Blast Processing!

1- Get a Playstation 4 (this will be checked off the list very very soon... I got a shipping confirmation yesterday!) Done
2- Complete at least 3 Zelda games, ideally starting with the top of the chronological order

I think I'll list my collecting goals in general so as not to forget them :P

3 - Buy a Japanese PS2
4 - Buy a Japanese New Nintendo 3DS (not XL)

1. Add a Wii U to the collection, grab Bayonetta 2, Wind Waker HD, and a decent pad
2. Get a multi-tier TV stand and RCA splitter that can output HDMI for the bedroom
3. Hunt down an original Xbox that isn't in terrible shape
4. Sell dupes, redundant versions, older versions of fighting games, and a few other bits of cruft to clear space
5. Replace/upgrade selected 360 and PS3 games with the PC versions
6. Try to stick to a philosophy of quality over quantity, keep a running list of around 50 'high priority' games and stick to it
7. Clear out my long-running list of most wanted PS2 and GC stuff once and for all

It's good to be employed again :D

The only goal I made was to complete my Dreamcast collection. (only 10 more to go for a complete set)

The other goal is to try and knock off at least 10 extremely rare (pricey) games off my list this year.
So far knocked off 4. Been selling my extras for paypal credit and then finding people who will make me a deal.

1. Little Samson (NES)
2. Wild Guns (SNES)
3. Keio: Flying Squadron (SCD)
4. (You'll find out when I get it.)  :P

Other then that, try and find good deals this year from garage sales and get a complete Amiibo set.  ;)

There are a bunch of consoles I'd like to own by the end of the year, namely a Dreamcast, Saturn, NES and SNES among others. Staying hopeful ^_^

Ah...I already knocked quite a bit of stuff off my list early. Aside from new releases, I'm going to be slowing down dramatically. I'm getting ready to adopt my youngest step daughter that I've raised since she was a year old and is now a beautiful, intelligent 10 year old who loves soccer. Yeah...I'm wrapped around her little finger. With that being said, here are my revised 2015 collecting goals.

1) get a black label copy of Spyro Year of the Dragon to replace my GH copy.
2) get near mint & complete copies of Lunar and Lunar 2 for PlayStation.
3) get a near mint copy of the Arc the Lad PlayStation collection.
4) get a near mint copy of Fear Effect Retro Helix.
5) get a near mint copy of Dark Cloud 2 for the PS2.
6) get all the new PS4 releases that I want. This will happen regardless.
7) near mint copies of Medievil 1 & 2, Jersey Devil and Blasto.
8) near mint copies of Tomba and Tomba 2.

I'm going to try and stick with this. If I see something not on my list but cheap, I'll probably go for it. But I try to stick with a quality over quantity mantra. I don't want incomplete games or games that are beat up. The manual condition is extremely important to me when it comes to original PlayStation titles as that also doubles as the cover art.

4) get a near mint copy of Fear Effect Retro Helix.

I seriously bought this game like 3 times before finding a good one. The first one was marked 'like new' - it arrived covered in Blockbuster stickers and with all the inserts cut up to fit into a slim 2CD case, with 2 of the 4 discs stacked on top of the others. o.O

My goal for this year is more restrained than my general gathering for before, as I want to focus on completing my Zelda collection.  I only need Spirit Tracks for a completion of the main Zelda series run.  My next goal is to then have a complete boxed collection, of which I need Zelda 2, Link to the Past, and most of the Game Boy to Game Boy Advance games.  Also just general additions to my Zelda collection as there's always some guides, figures, and some of the extra side games I need.

150 PS2 Games
A new system.
10 Saturn Games.
Over summer with the flea market average <$10 per game.

Have you ever stopped to consider how crazy we are as collectors?  We will gladly pay $60 for a game complete in box that we could get for $15 cartridge only (an example).  We are basically paying $45 more...for a cardboard. Box.

I don't care about that. If it runs okay and is a legitimate copy, I'm happy, I don't need the box, especially when its cheap

My so and I both got a kick out of reading the Super Mario Bros. instruction manual.

Metal Gear Solid had me running around for hours!! "Check the CD case" or something like that for Meryl's Freq number. I didn't realize it was the actual CD game case that the game was telling me to look at. Sometimes you just gotta have the packaging.

As far as goals, I'm gonna try and get rid of some stuff this year. I don't really have the space for toys, figures etc. I think I'd rather just have more games  ::)

Oh trust me, I agree!  I pass up good games all the time because they are incomplete. And Zelda II?  I despised that game. Was it because it was genuinely bad to me?  Or was it because it was a completely jarring change from the 1st Zelda and I didn't want to accept that change?  I loved A Link to the Past, so I have to lean toward the latter. I may have to revisit it some time.

Zelda II is one of my favorite NES games. I also love it's clone, Battle of Olympus. It's definetly the oddball of the series, though. I like other oddball in the series games, too, like SMB 2 and Castlevania II. Just a coincidence, though, I'm not going out of my way to try and like them or anything.

I love Super Mario Bros. 2 and Castlevania II.  While they were different from their predecessors and the "oddballs" of their respective series, they retained the core gameplay elements.  Mario still was about running & jumping and Castlevania was still about whipping stuff.  With Zelda II, I hated the way you were on an overworld map like a JRPG and transitioned into a side scroller for battles.  Just never clicked with me.

Metal Gear Solid had so much crazy $hit going on. Psycho Mantis was a lot of fun. Blanking out the screen like your game crapped out, but instead of video in the top corner it said "HIDEO."  Telling you he could move your controller with his mind and the feedback motors go 90 to nothing. Having to switch controller ports and my personal favorite, scanning my memory card and saying "I see you like Castlevania!"  Too cool.

I'd like to get to 400 original NA Gameboy games, & probably get some Color games before they go up any more.  Prices seem way too high right now, I'm guessing/hoping they will go back to being more reasonable during the summer, as they tend to do.

3. Get 50% finished with my 5200 collection. (currently heve 18 different titles with 1 duplicate)
4. Get 2 more CIB Systems.

First off how is everyone doing??

Lets see.. My goals for 2015 are..

1. Get my collection to 600 games. (currently 283)
2. Finally start in on my 1993 game collection (havent taken the time to see what I have)

4. Get 2 more CIB Systems.
5. Get another suikoden and .hack game that I currently do not have
6. Get 5 more Steel Book Cases

Second off:

1. finished. I am currently over 900 total items. Dang I just checked and I have 899 games.
2. not started. I havent been consiously trying to collect 1993 titles but im sure I have picked up more than a few more games with a 1993 release date.
3. Not finnished. I have not found any more 5200 games in the wild to add to my collection so I am still sitting at 18 titles.
4. Finished. I recently found a blue 2ds in box and complete and my brother gave me his Xbox 360 in box and complete.
5. Finished. Since this I have found 2 more .Hack games and Suikoden 3.
6. Finished. Im at work right now but if I remember correctly I now have 20+ Steel books, When I posted this I had 12.

So 4/6 are of my goals are finnished!

2015 Goals

1) A complete licensed NES set (minus Stadium Events) This WILL NOT Happen

2) Enjoy my collection and play more of these silly things.

I'm easy this year. It's just going to hurt my billfold.  :D

#2 is working out like a boss.  The first one... not so much.

Well...finished all of my goals for the year with time to spare.  Thanks to a series of fortunate events, I have added tremendously to my collection.  I've met goals I never thought I would this year like complete collections of Dragon Quest titles and putting together a full collection of all 25 Squaresoft PlayStation titles.  I've gotten all of the "Xeno" games including Xenogears, Xenosaga I-III, Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X.  Ended up with a complete in box, mint PSP Go which while unpractical and a DOA system, I've wanted one for a long time because well...I buy all of Sony's consoles!   :P  Landed a brand-new sealed God of War PSP 2000 and finally picked up a PocketStation Crystal.  Ended up with pretty much one of each of Nintendo's handhelds and added several more import titles to my collection.

Yeah...it's been a good year.   ;D

-Got a WiiU :)
-No Retron 5 yet
-Have imported a fair bit and will continue to do so.
-Got some more shmups, I didn't really set any solid goals so... achieved I guess. ???
-Have not passed 100 games for PS3 yet, currently at 68 including imports. Unlikely by the end of the year.
-Have not passed 50 PSP games yet, currently at 35 including imports. Might reach 40 by the end of the year, but 50 is unlikely.
-I only have 3 PS1 games so far. Definitely nowhere near where I'd like to get to. :-\
-Don't have all the Disgaea series yet. I'm still missing 7 versions currently released. :'( I do have at least one version of every game in the main series though and have Alliance of Vengeance preordered. :)
-Haven't quite caught up with the Hatsune Miku franchise yet either. I still need Project DIVA Extend for the PSP and the original Project Mirai on the 3DS. Would like to import a physical copy of Project DIVA f for the Vita as well.
-I've gotten a fair amount of the 360 exclusives I want. Not too much left really.
-No WonderSwan yet. :(

New goals (which will likely be long-term, just bought a house!)

1. Get an HD TV (so I can get to goal #2)
2. Get an XBox One (for Rare Collection, Neverwinter, ES Online, Halo 5, & Arkham Knight)
3. Get a Retro VGS Console (just because it sounds really cool, and I want to support an idea like this)

One crazy goal I've been toying with is trying to get every 3D platform game that is not based on any TV or movie franchise.

-Finish my PS2 collection (only 3 games away) Done!!! :)
-Get my PS1 want list to under 10 games (I still have 41 games on the want list) Done as well, although to be fair I took a few off that I decided I didn't want enough to actively pursue. I currently only have 9 PS1 games on my want list left.
-finish my Smash Bros Amiibo set (49 is the magic number)Still in Progress, By year end, assuming I don't get screwed with finding any of the remaining Smash Amiibos, I should have all of them minus DLC characters.
-Add at least 10 new import Saturn games to my collection (added 0 in 2014) Sadly this one is looking less an less likely. I have added a total of 1 new Saturn game to the collection this whole year and would bet money I won't be adding anymore in 2015 :/

After 12 months..
-  I'm at about 1162 games overall
- Currently at 180 gamecube games
-, have 190 wii games
- DS is at 80  games, haven't found too much, 87 including digital
- 3DS is at 31 games, 40 including digital
- Got a few shmups, not at many as I like because of  escalting prices especially on Saturn
- PS3 is at 73 games
-Dreamcast is at 23, can't find much of this for cheap
- 1ccs has increased by 8 games.

Besides these goals, I should be getting pretty close to finished with my Wii collection for now.
Edit update for Dec 2015

You guys are doing very good!  8)

Last year's goals weren't achieved, mainly because I removed from my collection the games that I don't own myself but are my family's. I took a drop in number, I'm at a little more than 350 total right now, but now the number is more accurate!

Obviously I now have my PS4, but I've completed the original Legend of Zelda, Link's Awakening and Minish Cap, and I'm now sitting at 11 Vita games, so that's 3 out of 4 goals achieved! And I don't think I'm going to achieve it by December 31st, but I don't mind. Everything's doing good :)

So both of them were asking too much for each deal then?

1st guy yes
2nd guy, it was the first item he ever bought with his first job/paycheck, so he is asking kinda high atm.

It's funny how things work.  Dreamcast's are hard to come by in my area for anything resembling a reasonable price.  Meanwhile, PSP's are everywhere.

I'm actually up to four PSP systems now.  I have an original PSP 1000 model complete in the box with all the extra goodies, demo's and Spider-Man UMD.  I bought an OEM replacement shell & button set for it and it looks pretty much brand-new.

I have a PSP 2000 system that I replaced the casing with an aftermarket.  It's a bronze color and can be seen in my gallery.

The third I picked up was a mint condition PSP Go which I subsequently got a box and all paperwork for so it's complete like-new.

Finally, found a helluva deal on eBay for the God of War red limited edition new/sealed.  It's pure gorgeous.   8)

The PSP is a really, really great system.  There are a ton of great games on it both new & exclusive as well as games ported to it like Tactics Ogre and the first two Star Ocean games.

Updated my list. :)

I saw that you'd updated it.  Does "Another homosexual experience" really need to be on a game list?   :o

so with the year almost to a close and a new thread in place:
http://vgcollect.com/forum/index.php/topic,6679.0.html

How has everyone done this year? did you accomplish your goals? or have you not gotten any progress in it?

Quote
Lets see.. My goals for 2015 are..

1. Get my collection to 600 games. (currently 283)
2. Finally start in on my 1993 game collection (haven't taken the time to see what I have)
3. Get 50% finished with my 5200 collection. (currently have 18 different titles with 1 duplicate)
4. Get 2 more CIB Systems.
5. Get another suikoden and .hack game that I currently do not have
6. Get 5 more Steel Book Cases

1. finished. I am currently over 900 total items. Dang I just checked and I have 899 games.
2. not started. I haven't been consciously trying to collect 1993 titles but i'm sure I have picked up more than a few more games with a 1993 release date.
3. Not finished.
6. Finished. I'm at work right now but if I remember correctly I now have 20+ Steel books, When I posted this I had 12.

So 4/6 are of my goals are finished!

1. update: I have 1163 items with more needing added
2. still un-started
3. Found 2 more titles bringing my total to 20 Titles (21 games)
4. Im getting a Wii U for Christmas and found a 32x boxed and won a gold ps4 from taco-bell so that brings the total to 5 new boxed systems.
5. found suikoden 1 complete
6. since last post I have purchased 4 more steelbooks.

150 PS2 Games 170!!
A new system. PS3
10 Saturn Games. 1 AWAY  :'(

I'd say I did pretty damn well!

Accomplished all of these except the Saturn goal, all well.

Good job guys! :) Accomplishing things feels so rewarding, even when it's buying more stuff haha  ;D

1- Get a Playstation 4 (this will be checked off the list very very soon... I got a shipping confirmation yesterday!)
2- Complete at least 3 Zelda games, ideally starting with the top of the chronological order  the original Legend of Zelda, Link's Awakening and Minish Cap
3- Have >10 Vita games currently sitting at 13
4- Bust either 50 3DS games or 100 DS games This one was ambitious, now at 29 3DS and 75 DS.

I haven't completed any new goals since my September update, but I still think this was a good year. With me buying 2 brand new systems, video games expenses were already pretty high this year  ::) I'll have to think about goals for next year now.

Congratulations to everyone for hitting some or all of their goals!

I've been truly blessed to have had the opportunity to get all of these great games and three limited edition PS4 consoles which I never dreamed I would have accomplished in a million years.

But it's been a real blessing having found this site late last year and having had the pleasure of interacting with all the fine people here on the forums.  Happy Holidays folks.   ;)
