Title: Nintendo Direct - November 12th
Post by: kamikazekeeg on November 10, 2015, 02:46:57 pm
Just a heads up for folks as we are finally getting a new Nintendo Direct very soon.  Hopefully we'll get that confirmation of Twilight Princess HD and some other good surprises as they hinted about some new stuff coming out soon that hadn't been discussed before.  Also would be interesting if we got some Smash news, such as maybe a new character or two they plan to release for the game.  I'm also wanting new Mario Kart courses, so that would be great to announce.

Can a brotha be hopeful for a DQ VII 3DS ? Also Im super anxious for a release date for Bravely Default.

Im not sure that Nintendo themselves would be doing either of these at their Direct but its honestly the only stuff on Nintendo systems Im interested in right now.

It would be a huge surprise if DQ VII 3DS got localized, given the fact that SE can't tell its international audience about its plans for Dragon Quest outside of DQ Heroes. I'm expecting Bravely Second to have a U.S. release date in the first half of 2016, hopefully Feburary or March.

Good, same day as the big XBox One update. So I can watch that while it updates.

lol There's currently have a caption at the bottom stating the press event will not feature anything about NX.

This is Nintendo we are talking about.  I figure they will show us already announced games, Reggie will be bullish and completely out of touch in his own world thinking Nintendo is still on top and we might see some new DLC announcements.

Anything beyond that?  I will be happy because I have zero expectations going into this.

^ lol. Yeah they'll probably talk about Xeno Chronicles or something that we basically already know everything about. Personally I'm hoping for some Zelda U action!

They've already said they'll be bringing up new stuff we don't know about for the event, along with probably final reveals for everything coming out this year and maybe some release dates for those Fire Emblem games coming out early next year.  They know they kinda need to bring a real solid one, being that it's the first one back without Iwata and people are bummed about Star Fox getting booted into next year.

And just to note, the direct starts at 2pm Pacific, 5pm Eastern.

I missed the start of the show on accident, but Twilight Princess HD confirmed with a Midna/Wolf Link Amiibo bundle.  March 4th.  Pre-orders now available.  Apparently there was a slight Zelda Wii U tease, but it was just confirmation of the game releasing next year mostly and will be on Wii U.  There's an Amazon placeholder up right now, no pre-order quite yet, but it says that the amiibo will unlock bonuses in Twilight Princess and for Zelda Wii U.

Some free DLC for Tri Force Heroes.  More DLC for Splatoon of course.

Interesting thing, but for Xenoblades Chronicles X, you can get download packs that speed up loading, though of course the Wii U's space is a factor as the 4 packs are anywhere from 1.5 to 3gigs each.

Pokemon Picross I think is literally Pokemon Minesweeper lol

Pokken Tournament is out Spring 2016.

Starfox Zero is out April 22nd.

Mario Paper Jam on 3DS is January 22nd.

Final Fantasy Explorers on 3DS.  Another co-op type game like with Tri Force Heroes in that its better to play with friends. January 26th and it has a collector's edition with some physical and digital things.

Fire Emblem Fates.  February 19th.  You can get all three games for 80 bucks in the collector's set, or you  can buy one and get a digital download for the other two at 20 bucks a piece.

Mega Man Legacy Collection 3DS February 23rd.  Mega Man Amiibo unlocks more challenges and more unlocked with Golden Mega Man that comes with the collector's set.

The original Pokemon games are out February 27th on the eshop and now have a new wireless trade system!

Linkle confirmed for Hyrule Warriors! Hell yeah! Dual Crossbows! Looks badass.

Dragon Quest 7 on 3DS next year.  Early Summer. Dragon Quest 8 also out next year.

Holy crap, Cloud from FF7 is confirmed for Smash.  He gets his own Midgar stage and his alternate costume is his Advent Children sword and clothing.

Went back to watch the start of the direct and the other Zelda amiibo's will have functionality with Princess HD.  They said they'll talk about that and the new features it has later.

There is also a special Smash presentation next month, which I will assume will give us maybe even another character reveal, probably just the ballot results and a tease more likely, but more importantly the Cloud release date.  He looks pretty done from the trailer, so maybe he'll be out next month and then maybe by around March, we'll see another.

I'm a little confused about the FE Special Edition. The image says all 3 games on one cart. Which, should obviously mean they've all been crammed into one cart. Like, duh. But considering the 3rd game is being released digital only, it makes me think that's a download code and not actually "on" the cart. Making that statement a lie. Meaning the other game could also be a download code, too. Plus the fact that the case is just for the Birthright game, instead of a special case.

I mean $80 for the 3 games + an art book + pouch thing + soundtrack(?) - doesn't seem right. 40 + 20 + 20 for the games and everything else is free?

Really hoping it's not just the one game plus two download codes. Went ahead and preordered anyway.

Overall the direct was pretty bland. Twilight Princess HD looks terrible. I know they're just using a higher resolution of the textures, but it still just looks blurry and not good. Cloud in Smash - bleh. Gold Mega Man amiibo: ridiculous. I feel like there was a good 10 minutes where all they did was try and plug amiibo. It's getting forced into everything. And just some release dates plust trailers for stuff we already know about. DQ announcements were pretty cool though, actually.

Also "We have unannounced titles for 2015!" *fast forward to Direct* "Here's Pokemon Picross. And now on to 2016." :|

I don't get overhyped for the Directs like most people seem to do, so I'm not disappointed or anything. Not sure why I'm seeing so many people on sites act like this was the best thing ever, though.

From what I recall, that FE Special edition has all 3 stories on the cart, so there are no download codes in the package.

Also, I think many people were really looking for some info since there hasn't been a Direct since early of this year. Some of that stuff they showed like the Gold Mega Man amiibo were hilariously bad. I did like that support for the 3DS still seems to be pretty strong, even though I wish there were more Wii U games that would come out.

Slightly lol It's still like it's own amiibo, such as with the Gold/Silver Mario's who have their own uses in Super Mario Maker, but for Mega Man Legacy, it doesn't unlock anything special.

Just watched the entire Direct. Here are some of my thoughts.

First off, Hells to the motha fucken yeah on the DQ VII and DQ VIII.

Xenoblade X looks pretty awesome. I can see it giving Fallout 4 a run on being the biggest/baddest sob on the block.

Mario Tennis actually looks pretty fun. I may pick that up.

Bravely Second mention is a great thing. Can not wait til it releases.

FF Explorers is going to be fantastic. Love the new additions and the collector's edition.

Cloud + SSB = win. No 2 ways about it.

The Poke super dungeon game may make it onto my future pick up list. Never been into any Pokemon games but this one seems pretty much on my playstyle level and has every single Poke character available.

Im meh about yet another Zelda HD remake. While the amiibo looks to be the neatest one out there, I will probably refrain from buying it. For the people that like it, however, congrats.

Gold Megaman amiibo ... ehhh its okay I guess. Legacy collection looks neat and I already have a copy on pre-order.

Dont think I forgot anything that picqued my interest.

Forgot about this, but I did manage to get my Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition pre order in earlier today. It seems like the only way to get the complete package all on the cart, and the demand for this is incredible; can't believe it sold out so quickly at Amazon and Best Buy today.

It was a pretty solid Direct over all. Better than their E3 presentation of course. I'm excited for Star Fox Zero, Mario & Luigi Paper jam, XenoBlade X and Hyrule Warriors legends.
I seen the Twilight Princess HD and my reaction was: Woopie, another HD port, great....but I'll get it. I'd kid myself otherwise. :P I do like the Wolf Link Amiibo though.
New content for Splatoon looks cool. Haven't played the game in awhile though...
I'm also happy about the DQ VII and VIII 3DS localizations.
Final Fantasy Explorers looks intriguing, even though I am burnt out on Fial Fantasy.
Pokken Tournament looks fun.

Speaking of Amiibo, I guess I may have to get the Mega man Legacy Collection for the Gold Mega Man then.

Cloud Strife in Smash...HOT DIGGITY DAMN! But if Square was in this all along, why not give us Geno from Mario RPG instead? Oh well, this is cool though.

I have to wonder if Cloud showing up in Smash along with Final Fantasy Explorers, if they are looking to have a working relationship with Nintendo, so that they can have the FF7 Remake show up on the NX?  Would be cool.

Didn't watch the direct, but read about it online this morning.

Most of the stuff was known already.  I'm kinda ho-hum on the Twilight Princess remake as this will be the third version of this game and I didn't really care for it to begin with.  The Amiibo looks nice tho!  I guess it's cool that they are adding a female version of Link to the 3DS release of Hyrule Warriors and the character looks nice.  But Linkle?  That's a lame name.  Honestly, I haven't been the biggest Zelda fan since Ocarina of Time sucked balls IMO.

The upcoming release of Dragon Quest VII and VIII on the 3DS is very welcome news and probably the highlight for me.  I also think it's very cool that Cloud is being added to the Super Smash Bros. roster and will be downloading that content when it becomes available.

Pre-loading sections of Xenoblade Chronicles X is a cool idea, but with the storage limitations of the Wii U?  I think I will just suffer the longer load times when my Collector's Edition arrives next month.

As for Mario Tennis or whatever other sport title they make with Mario shoe-horned in, I don't care.  I'm not a fan of sports games on a console (I'd rather do sports games outdoors with the kids or whatever) and never buy them.

So in summary, mostly what I expected to see with the Dragon Quest and Cloud in Smash announcements being what interested me.

I wonder if the DQ localization announcements will lead to localization announcements for the PS4 DQ games? I really want DQ Builders, and of course the new full-fledged game when it releases.

Also, I've seen people mention the low storage space on the Wii U as a reason not to d/l those Xenoblade data files a few places now (other than here). Can't you load them on a thumb drive or external HDD? I mean, those thumb drives are ridiculously cheap these days, and I know I personally have several floating around the house (in addition to the one I have permanently plugged into my Wii U).

Yeah just plug in a thumb drive I think it might support up to 64 GB drives but don't quote me

Things I'm excited about from it:
-The Legend of Zelda: Wii U - CONFIRMED FOR WII U, WOO HOO!!!
-The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD - Great news for me personally, since I have the Wii version, and would much rather play it with the button-layout on the Wii U Gamepad.
-Xenoblade Chronicles X - I know, this has been known for a while. But for whatever reason, this is the first time I've seen gameplay on it. Looks awesome!
-Dragon Quest XI - Always been a DQ fan. Always happy to see a new installment.
-Starfox Wii U - I like Star Fox, so I'm happy to see this. But at the same time, I'm not the biggest Star Fox fan. So I'll get this one when the price goes down on it.

I thought there was waaaayyy too much stuff on Pokémon and Amiibo. But I can understand why. They're marketing to those kids that like to collect everything, and it works. They make a lot of money off it. I'm personally not interested at all in those things, though. (Now if they made an Amiibo that unlocked new gameplay (like levels, areas, missions, etc.), then I might be a little more interested). I'd personally rather have Nintendo focus more on actual games and hardware.

I also wish they would have given us something on the Nintendo NX. Wasn't expecting a full-reveal or anything, but at least a small tease would have been nice.
