Just got back from a long vacation Saturday and being home again Sunday I decided to celebrate by going game hunting. Went to various places and ended up finding all this. Highlight was definitely the GBA Micro with the charger. In the 9-years I have been collecting I have never come across a GBA Micro in the wild, at least one that wasn't ebay priced. This one was $30 with the charger. Other games were $3 or $5 each.\

Photobucket doesn't do Free image sharing anymore.

I'm hoping to cut back on buying games, I may even cancel some preorders and pass on some LRG stuff.

I have expected medical expenses and medical insurance is shit in the US.  Likely have to pay $3k by January and another $4k in April... and that's assuming insurance doesn't get worse next year.

Tinypic works for free, as said. But dang is it ad-heavy. Like worse than the click-bait sites even. It seriously slows down my computer every time I have to use it.

I've never tried it. Imgur's usually been pretty straightforward for me if I'm not just linking to a photo from my Flickr (also a free option).

I used to use Imgur, but then it stopped letting me upload from my phone.  Then I used photobucket until they killed free sharing.

Now I just don't take pics anymore.  I have a new phone, so maybe Imgur is working again.  Haven't tried.

I've been using imgbb to upload from my phone. Works great and is pretty quick.

The Imgur app likes to crash upon opening on my phone for about the past year or so. Sometimes it works, but usually not. I end up uploading to Google Drive, the download on the computer and upload to Imgur.

A buddy of mine is sending me the LRG Ys Origin in the next week or so.  Excited to get to play it!  I also have my SNES Classic coming in about a week or so as well.  Ordered it from Malaysia and they were a few days behind on their shipment from Nintendo's distributor in the region.

Today i was in a used shop to sell a few DVD (i need to make some space on my shelves) and i found a few PS1 and PS2 games that i didn't have in the 1€ section:

PS1:
360 Three Sixty
Music
N-Gen Racing (Best of Infogrames - no manual)
RC de GO! (no manual)

PS2:
Destruction Derby Arenas
Fighting Fury
Free Running
Mouse Trophy
Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy
Road Rage 3 (i already have it in my collection but i never seen this variant before, a second [FR] variant to add in the database  ;D)
Silpheed: The Lost Planet
Super Trucks (no manual)
Tokobot Plus: Mysteries of the Karakuri (with the wrong manual inside, it's the one from Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness)

I also got three controllers for free from a friend, a Cheetah SGQP2B (a turbo pad for MegaDrive/Genesis i think, i'm not a big Sega gamer, never played anything on the Master System and the MegaDrive; and i don't even own a Saturn), a QuickShot QS-1300 (for the Saturn apparently) and a QuickShot QS-1500 (for PS1), the Cheetah need a bit of cleaning but the two QuickShot are in a pretty good state.

Not sure if serious, but that's not the right price tag. On second thought if I was going to turn this into a guessing game, probably should've removed that. There was one on Super Off Road that said $18.

That one had a old price tag of $15.

But what I'm trying to say is, I paid a decent penny for Castlevania.

These weeks have been far better for deals than my last pickups I'd have to say I'm very pretty pleased  ;D

Than there was this other listing with excellent box in unused condition baggies still closed etc with only a 90 euro's loss shipped, Definitely very pleased to finally play my turbo grafx games not to mention for a very reasonable price in this condition  ;D

Hit up a more remote flea market in my area before deciding to venture a couple hours North to Columbus. At the flea I found a couple of cheap filler titles including...

Gummy Bears MiniGolf (Wii) - $3
Shrek's Carnival Craze Party Games (PS2) - 50¢
Kinect Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure - $3

Went to a couple of Half-Price Books locations in Columbus and happened upon the following:

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat (Wii) - $8
My First Trainz Set (PC) - $1

The intent was to stop at some GameStop stores to take advantage of the 4/$10/$20/$40 sale but we never made it to a single location that day (traffic departing the OSU game help kill that plan  :P).

Just bought the German Platinum Hits version of Final Fantasy XII for the PS2 for only €9.98 shipped.  I also have a lead on getting the Singapore/HK version as well, but the only problem is it might be super expensive...  Not surprised but was hoping to catch a break.

Just started to get into collecting, and as word spreads among friends, it's already paying off. A friend had a box of games he hadn't gotten rid of yet, sold it to me for a great price... first pickup of more than a few games at once. Some I already had, but not that many.

Ignore the "new" items in my signature. I have become aware that my PC collection is not correct on the site, so I have to go through and compare what I have vs what is on the site. I do have some new PC games I picked up that I hope to take a picture of tomorrow. So far these three Genesis games:

Hard Drivin'
Super Volley Ball
Taz in Escape From Mars Mega Hits

Good call, turf. And, you know, I can see the stuff you (and I) picked up by checking Our Parents' Basement's YouTube channel.

Retropalooza V was kind to me. I got great deals and ended up with the following:

PlayStation:
Star Ocean: The Second Story

Monster Seed

Dragon Seed

Jade Cocoon: Legend of the Tamamayu

Ergheiz (sp)

Strategy Guides:
Bushido Blade

Star Ocean: The Second Story

PlayStation 2
Samurai Legend Musashi

$20 Each, all brand new.

The used copies for Andromeda and Bioshock were weirdly $50 but the new ones were only $20. The guy at EB Games said they had gotten the price drops for the new ones but the used ones were most likely forgotten so the prices were never altered.

A lot of goodies came in the mail today and my local used game store got in a bunch of Japanese games.

Amiibo
- Goomba
- Koopa Troopa

Tiny Arcade
Heard that these where being sold at Cracker Barrel and they only had the one left. Now I gotta find the other 3.
- Ms. Pac-Man

XBone
- Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite - Collector's Edition
- Family Fun Pack: Conquest Edition (on clearance for $10)

PS4
- Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana - Limited Edition
- Touhou Kobuto V Burst Battle - Limited Edition
- Yakuza Kiwami - Steelbook Edition
- Blue Reflection
- Lawbreakers
- Starblood Arena (on clearance for $10)

- Bad Apple Wars - Day One Edition
- Ys Origins - Collector's Edition
- Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana - Limited Edition

3DS
- RPG Maker FES - Limited Edition
- Culdcept Revolt - Limited Edition

XB360
Saw this on clearance for $12, sure why not.  :P
- Guitar Hero Live

PS2
Found some PS2 games I didn't have for cheap from my local used game store.
- Yu-Gi-Oh! Capsule Monster Coliseum
- Nighshade
- Ever Grace

GBA
I saw GBA Doom at a Gamestop for $24. I know this game is uncommon and looked it up on Ebay and saw someone selling both for $18 with free shipping so I just bought it that way. lol
- Doom
- Doom II

Some dude came in to my local used game store and brought in a box full of import games, but as they where going through them I guess he took most of them back. He had games from Famicom, Super Famicom, Saturn, PS1, PS2, Dreamcast. They tried to get him to sell more but he only was able to part with a few. I bought several that they did get. Most all of these where priced under $7. I didn't buy any of the PS2 games just because they where all RPG's that got a US release.

DC

Some dude came in to my local used game store and brought in a box full of import games, but as they where going through them I guess he took most of them back. He had games from Famicom, Super Famicom, Saturn, PS1, PS2, Dreamcast. They tried to get him to sell more but he only was able to part with a few. I bought several that they did get. Most all of these where priced under $7. I didn't buy any of the PS2 games just because they where all RPG's that got a US release.

I'm unwell ATM (nothing major), so I went out to fill a prescription at a town I visit often, there's a particular charity shop I never go in because I found it expensive in the past. In a hurry today, so dive in that particular CS rather than any others.. bugger me! Tunguska, Xena and Legend of Dragoon on PS1, complete, 99p each. I couldn't tell you the last time I found anything exciting in a charity shop, couldn't believe my eyes when I read the spines.  :o

I've no money for big spends, but there are two titles which I wanted on release, unknown to me (until a day before) they were both released last Friday - Evil Within 2 and Dungeons 3 for the PS4. Got EW2 mail-order from CEX with a voucher, had to pay cash for Dungeons 3 as CEX messed-up the trade-in value on that one so nobody's going to trade one in till it's dropping in price. Looking forward to playing those two.

Also got/getting recently: Vandal Hearts 1 & 2 (courtesy of more CEX voucher), Resident Evil 6 PS4 (ditto), Dino Strike Wii (ditto again, hope it comes with the manual). Expecting Fire in the Flood and Caladrius Blaze from Limited Run, waiting to see if Play Asia announce anything interesting in the same vein.

Socket box inlay actually very good condition but front discoloured
Trouble shooter already knew that there was something but it was a cheap deal and I'm a cheap man. Box inlay has some strips cut of on the sides a shame. Other than that in good condition manuals and cart very nice condition if not for that.

Been awhile since I've done much retro collecting, I've basically stopped and decided that if I plan to do anymore, it's going to be purely boxed N64 games, so going to visit a local game shop that just re-opened into a bigger spot, I used some trades to pick up Command & Conquer, and then grabbed 1080.  Nothing super cheap, but enough that I didn't mind grabbing for now.  Thinking of going back and just asking if I buy like a half dozen or more of the cheap sports games, if he'll give me a deal lol

My goodies from Portland Retro Gaming Expo, my first gaming expo! (It was awesome.)

Einhander (PS1) and Lunar the Silver Star Complete (PS1) are two from my "Holy Grails" list, so that is awesome. Strike Gunner (SNES) & Wonder Boy in Monster Land (Master System) have been on my wishlist for far too long, so it's cool to see those get knocked off, too. The others are ones I got cheap there.

The book is by Brett Weiss, who was there, and signed the inside cover, as well as the copy of the 1989-1990 Edition I also owned and took with me to get signed.

The booklet in the upper corner is the program guide/contents of the event, and the badge below that. Up top is a free bag that they gave you.

Picked up Fire Emblem Warriors CE... that was a fiasco.  I had it preordered for shipping with Amazon and BB.  You know, because something always happens and one gets cancelled.  Well, preorders were open for so long, I figured it was safe, so I cancelled the Amazon order.  Then BB started doing an incentive program for in store pick up.  Save $1 when you do in store pick up.  I'm near my preferred BB on Tuesdays and Fridays any way, so it's a win-win.  So I switched my preorder over to store pick up.  Release day comes.  Store cancels my order 5 minutes after the store opens, because they don't have any stock of the game left.  Presumably they sold all of the preorders to first come first serve.  I have a separate story about this I'll come back to.  I go and check, if I want it shipped, it won't get here until November 1st, even with the Elite Plus free 2-day shipping.  I notice that another local BB has it eligible for in store pickup ready in 1 hour.  So I place the order and they fill it... but I don't save the $1 for in store pick up because I guess the incentive is over now.

The other BB story is that with the release of the Xbox One, with the Day One edition that you had to preorder to receive.  The store handed out the Day One editions that were preordered to the people showing up to buy the system without preorders.  Store wound up in a lot of fucking trouble because tons of people who explicitly bought the Day One edition were handed the non-Day One edition because the store sold them to non pre-order folks.

Other pick up is I got Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past CIB.  Another one of those online purchases where the seller claims it's CIB, no pictures, and it's priced at the loose price.  Came CIB with the map and everything.  NIIIIIIIIIICE.

I haven't made any purchases in the month of October, but my copy of Undertale from fangamer came in today. Buying one game from them was leagues better than anything LRG has ever put out.

And they don't screw you with miniscule print runs either ;)

I'm of the opposite belief.

I feel like Einhander is praised so heavily because it is one of a few shooters on the PS, probably the most famous one, and also it was published by Squaresoft which was a god-tier publisher in the 90s. The game itself is fairly imbalanced and clunky at times. It is very cool looking and stylish, but like many mediocre or bad shooters, it's main fault is its gameplay. It isn't terrible, just okay imo. I tried getting into this game, but just couldn't so I ended up selling it.

Maybe in the past, but many people talk about it so I would not say that it is underrated at least not anymore. I would have loved that this game was actually underrated wich means not many people have played it wich results in very low prices to get this game.

In my believe it is actually one of the most hyped shoot em ups on the ps1 no questions asked, also as a shoot em up in general it will be mentioned definitely not underrated in the slightest.

Still though for the hyped game that it is 80$ is not to high could have been far worse.

@bikinghatjun

Maybe the gameplay is mediocre but I think It's just very different compared to other shooters, obviously there are some who do not like this play style thanks to it being different but with some games you have to get into them before they can be enjoyable. Sometimes controls and mechanics are a bit difficult so that's also a thing that can put people off.

I've collectively played the game 10+ hours over years, with at least half of that being the last time I tried really getting into it. The game is difficult, sure, that is to be expected, but its difficulty is not always by design. For their first attempt at a shooter it was a good effort and as I said, the game looks cool and I really like the style of the ships and levels, but I found it incredibly frustrating at times due to these gameplay issues. Games like Ikaruga, Dodonpachi, Battle Garegga and Radiant Silvergun are hard as hell, but their difficulty is masterfully designed to where no matter how hard it is, it is always fair.

I see

Well to be fair in many shoot em ups you have to memorize certain parts of a level save spots for bosses etc. It's the only way to beat allot of shoot em ups.

Bullets wich go to fast to dodge unless you know before hand, being at a certain area in game wich is already to late when you realise it

It's unfair unless you know what you have to do, shoot em ups in a nut shell.

Not for all but for many  also in allot of good ones.

Besides certain parts in ikaruga are pretty merciless especially with those moving pillars and enemies at the same time

Than again never played the game yet so maybe I'll see it's flaws when I ever aquire one.

So a search for cheap tealight candles on Saturday ended up with me lucking into a SNES Classic.  ;D

I was in charge of some kiddos over the weekend and decided to drop by an outlet mall that had a Disney Outlet in it. I found this cool Jack Skellington skull that you could put candles in to illuminate for only $5. We ventured over to Target and couldn't find any reasonably priced tealight candles but I did find a discounted Yooka-Laylee for $20. Swung by Meijer which was down the road and not only did I find my cheap candles, we wandered into their electronics section and there was a lone SNES Classic just sitting in the case. I called the attendant over and when she went to ring me up for it, she applied a special coupon that expired that night which took $15 off the total.  ;D

The only other notable pick-ups over the weekend were Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja 4 on PS2 for $10 and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm on PS3 for $5 (also got TimeShift for $5 as well).

Now I need to find another one of those HORI Wireless Fighting Commander Pads. They were all over and have suddenly all disappeared.  :-\

Wow, I didn't realize Power Stone 2 had shot up in price so much! I know it has always been on the expensive side, but last time I saw a copy in the store (like 2-years ago) it was a $50 game. Really cool game though, still prefer the firth one though.

Even the first Power Stone is up there. I thought I would do myself a service of getting just the jewel case and then pick up the loose disc later for cheap. Except that hasn't quite worked out as I planned...  :'(

While some might think that disc only are worthless and nothing like carts only for the presentation

Times have chanced and disc only for the better games sell for a nice amount sometimes even 50% or more also for the more pricy games.

Worthless games disc only are worthless but than again that is expected.

I'm not suprised since disc only is first of all really hard to find, usually it is at least boxed. discs without boxes will probably damage unless you would put it in another case.

Furthermore you also have buyers who need replacement discs and yea, a box and manual without a game has allot less value and obviously not playable. I'm pretty sure that especially these groups of people keep the price for disc only games high.

Also a minor group who collect disc only because it is cheap(er) but that's a small group.

Good luck man finding a disc only will be a tough challenge if you want to get one for cheap.

On a positive note since value of disc only games are worth a nice amount you will find more lose discs on ebay of the better games since it is worth the effort.

I've never deliberately bought a disk or case only in order to piece it together, but I have found one or the other for certain hard to find games because it seemed like possibly the only route of ever owning them, at least for cheap. I found Vanguard Bandits at a flea market a few years ago, but it was missing the game disk, but had everything else, including the Lunar 2 demo. I brought this to the seller's attention and he sold me the case, manual and demo for a buck. I ended up actually finding a loose disk for it at a game store for $20 about a year later so ended up getting the whole game for $21. So yeah, sometimes it works out.

I used to not, but I do buy empty cases now. Usually only if I am in person (like thrift or flea market) or in a lot on ebay, or if I need one for a game that is unruly to keep loose.

Then there are times I buy them on accident, as I had found from many years of buying boxed computer games... going through them now, sometimes they are missing some discs.

I'm loving you people that buy empty cases! I just made $50 on a box & manual for Castlevania today. No way I'd let go of the game itself, but for that much, you can have the box.

It's not to strange if your missing some stuff as a collector and you want the complete thing

Also dont forget that lose cases and manuals are pretty rare without the discs. Far more buyers than supply if it is a good game so people can be kinda desprate at times. Especially manuals can fetch nice amounts sometimes hundreds.

I would actually go as far as to say that completing a set in the lose way is more expensive than buying a cib copy unless you found one of the parts for a bargain but even than you won;t save to much if were fair. Only with very expensive games you'll pay more for the complete set than buying the parts lose.

That being said I would personally never sell a case and manual from any of my cib games doesnt look nice and as a collector kinda hurts, let alone from one of the best ps1 games ever made Castlevania SOTN shame on you   ;)

Picked up Magna Carta 2 at Gamestop.

Also got Prey (X1) in the mail from Gamefly.

I'm guilty.  I've paid good money for a few boxes and manuals.  Off the top of my head, I know I paid $20 for my Darkwing Duck box and manual.  I know I've done it other times too.  I really want a Turtles in Time box.  I just can't make myself pay that kind of money for paper.

TBH For cartridge games I would rather have a manual and box in excellent shape than the cart, on the cheap though but still.

Carts are so much easier to find in quantities but obviously also in deals, a cakewalk in comparison.

I would still recommend at least playing them other 16 bit console games on an emulator else your missing out on quite allot.

While the GBA is great it is an inferior 16 bit console in terms of grapics, zoomed in screens of it being a handheld but especially sound. In my believe i don´t think that gba prices will go up allot thanks to these gameplay issues since people are picky what they want to play and the GBA is not the number one option for 2D 16 bit games. Over the years I have played less and less GBA games since other consoles are so much more superior with their 2D games.

Bootlegs are another reason why I don't really go the CIB route. There are too many variables involved for the cash involved.

For GBA cib games are actually a thing that will decrease the chance of bootleg games by allot.

While there are bootleg boxes they are easy to spot and the quality is lacking allot. It is way to much effort to track down an original box and manual just to put a fake cart inside.

Even with nes and snes there are hardly any high quality fake boxes out there very few and usually they are very easy to spot also the proffesional ones.

You make some very valid points. I guess bootleggers are willing to put more effort into their product if they know the return is worth it. Makes perfect sense.

Exactly! It makes me sad :( I'm ok with paying a little more for a legit copy of the game, but I hate having to sift through eBay items, looking for good pics to determine if something is a bootleg or not.

Do people just take the risk and then ask the seller for a refund if they determine it's a fake?

The one time I received a fake, I reported the seller to ebay, Nintendo AP division, and filed a claim with Paypal.

I'm not sure what happened to my original copy, but I just rebought this. And it set me back over $50 for a disc-only copy! The next closest copy was $75! But I bit the bullet and paid it, because I freaking LOVE King's Field and this game is KF's cousin.

When I original bought this game, it was under $10.

If I had to guess, a popular Youtube channel made a video about it and probably stressed that it's a rare game that everyone should get before it goes up.

I guess that eventually, every slightly obscure game will become so expensive that most people won't even consider them. The trend of skyrocketing has become all the more common these days. The number of expensive games on each platform increases on a yearly basis.

One small batch to finish off the month:

360:
Country Dance All-Stars
NHL 2K8
NHL 14
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas
The Walking Dead

Toys to Life:
Cloud (1P) Amiibo

At this rate, it's looking like hockey will be the first sport I fully complete for the 360 as I now have the entire 2K line and need 5 games left from EA's line. I also wound up with another copy of BlazBlue Calamity Trigger as they sent me it when I ordered Continuum Shift Extend, but as I only paid $2 for it, it's not worth the hassle of the refund.

there are allot of actually rare ps1 games, however they are bad and or plain releases so the value is pretty low and only interesting for a select few who go for full sets.

If this game was bad or at least unknown of being good to many people like in the past it would have probably still been in that 10$ range. But yea youtube happened  :o

I see but even for cart only people will mention if a cart is a repro

Since in person it is easy to spot a fake thanks to the imprinting on the lable and if you open the cart It's never the same like an original in pretty much all cases very cheap boards.

Scamming with reproduction games happened allot in the past but thanks to the improved buyers paypal protection scamming with repro items is allot of effort for low chances of succes. you'll even lose shipping costs It's better to ship nothing for scammers. not to mention I'm pretty sure that power sellers want to avoid negative feedback for selling a fake as an original etc even though some people might fall for it.

there is pretty much no risk anymore especially thanks to the knowledge of today and the improved buyers protection wich is a bit to good since buyers can abuse it big time even if the seller is fair.

I assume that's a poster but I think it would be cooler if it were a laminated placemat. Also, that dinosaur looks so out of place in comparison to the rest of that picture IMO.  :P

Went out on Saturday to try and track down the Chrom amiibo that I didn't even realize was released alongside Fire Emblem Warriors. Only one store near me showed one on hand so I hopped down there and lucky enough it was still in stock. Tried my luck in getting the wedding 3-pack ordered from the warehouse but he said it showed unavailable to him. On the way to that store we dropped into Best Buy beforehand to see if they had any in stock (which would be cheaper with GCU). They didn't but they did have a restock of the Majora's Mask amiibo (need to check Amazon to see if they got a restock on the Skyward Sword one). :D

After picking up Chrom, we went across town to a hole-in-the-wall game store. I found quite a few things in there, some at prices I could hardly believe including...

Build-A-Bear: Welcome to Hugsville DS $2
Tetris Party Deluxe DS $4
Zoo Tycoon 2 DS $2
Thrillville PSP $2
Thrillville: Off the Rails $2
Katamari Forever PS3 $10
Twisted Metal PS3 $3
Awesome Possum GEN $6

Went around to some GameStop locations because it was Elite Pro day. I ended up signing up for the new version since the amount of used stuff I buy pays for the card several times over in the course of a year. At one location I decided to finally bite the bullet and pick up the WiiU game Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The Elite Pro nets you 20% off and then there was a promo for an additional 10% on top of that. I had enough points available where I was able to redeem a $25 off pre-owned item and applied that so I ended up getting the game for about $30.

Last stop of the day was a Half-Price Books where I found a Paper Mario Sticker Star strategy guide on clearance for $2.

I had no idea Tiki even existed till I saw your post so I spent most of yesterday afternoon tracking her down. GameStop was no help nor was Best Buy but I managed to find her at a Meijer near my house. It sucks I don't get any kind of points (GS) or discount (BB GCU) but I'm happy I didn't have to jump through fire hoops to get her other than go around to a few stores.  :)

A new Bubsy game? I'm not sure who asked for it, but I'm happy that it exists in physical form. Plus a bunch more Wii stuff I've got recently.

Collecting all the Borderlands stuff?

That'll be next my friend!  Going to start with my favorite in the series, Borderlands 2.  I already have a PC and XBOX 360 release of all three as well as a double add-on pack for the 360 and the Handsome Collection for the XBOX one all from North America.  Right now these are all mostly cheap.  The Loot Chest LE will be the most expensive one I would hazard a guess followed by the ultra rare BL2 Game of the Year edition for PC in a physical disc.  That one took me forever to find new...then I promptly took it out and installed it to play.  HAHA!
