Some very nice pickups there Bretty!  I still need me a copy of Resident Evil for Saturn!  Congrats!

I just picked up a package today, I've been waiting over a month for them to get here.

Cotton Boomerang
Cotton 2
Shining Force III E2
Shining Force III E3
Sword & Sorcery

Cotton 2 came in an oddly thick CD Case, and I discovered there's a 1998 Calendar in there for the game.  Time to pick up a mod chip finally so I can English patch my Shining scenarios!

I LOVE DeathSmiles!! The action even on the first difficulty level is pretty intense, and I played a whole game of level 999 and it was just a visual overload.

Thanks. Let me know how those Cotton games are, I've looked at them before but never pulled the trigger. They look pretty fun though.

Oh ya, at one point I played the game exclusively on 999. So worth it when you get further than previous attempts.

So today during my usual rounds I stumbled upon a booth that had loads of these.

I grabbed pretty much all of 'em and negotiated a price - six bucks. Six bucks for eighty one sealed Lunar Silver Star Story Complete cloth maps.

Someone sold one of these for thirteen bucks shipped on eBay. Used. And these are sealed. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA

(Yes, I'm gonna be trading some of these away. :P)

These sellers typically buy out warehouses, storage lockers, or pallets of stuff from Goodwill. So it could've come from either of the three.

I'll be trading some of them away here, no doubt. ;)

I'm sure the original is worth more. But my intention was always to open it up and play it anyway. Plus I don't collect games as an investment.

To answer the first one, the original of anything imo is always better. And the lunar maps only come with the box set. Its just odd to imagine that many in one spot.

Picked up a few games today.

Bionic Commando: Elite Forces (GBC)
Advance Guardian Heros (GBA)
Rival Schools (PS1)
Einhander (PS1)

I'm pretty pumped about finding all of these CIB. I've wanted Rival Schools and Einhander for a while. Nice to find them in the wild as opposed to cheesing out with eBay.

Einhander... I wanted that game so bad. But the ps1 era was still when I was too young to have enough money to buy anything on a whim.

Front Mission 3
Confidential Mission
Skies of Arcadia (missing disc 1)
$4

I saw a bunch of Dreamcast games at a booth and I already owned all of them, except Confidential Mission and Skies of Arcadia. I picked up Skies first, but was sad at not finding disc 1 in there. So I grabbed Confidential Mission, walked around the booth, and noticed Front Mission 3 just sitting there on top of a bunch of DVDs. I grabbed it, it looked fine, so I asked for a price and the seller said "$3". I asked if that was per game or for both... she said for both. I would've gladly paid $3 each but hey, I'm not complaining! I was about to leave but I asked about the Skies with the missing disc and the seller said I could have it for a buck. I'll try to track down disc 1 now.

Nah, I kinda want to eventually have all the dragon quest/warrior games, though just cart-only, I don't care about boxes.

Ebay! Sorry, not much of a story :P But it was much cheaper than any other site I found it on before. Japanese retailers usually sell I & II as well as III for about 16$ each + whatever they charge for shipping from japan, so getting all of them for 20$ with free shipping was quite the deal.

Yeah, really loving DQ I & II, it looks and sounds amazing.... Now if only I didn't suck at reading japanese... but it's all hiragana as far as I've seen so I can potentially force my way through.

The game disc of XII was stolen ages ago, finally had it replaced for cheap+shipping.  Everything else in decent condition except for XIII-2 which is pristine and still has the SE reg form (yay Gamefly), but was pretty miffed that the Paper Mario didn't have the booklet despite being described as "very good" on eBay.

Not sure whether that'll go back or if I'll just ask for a partial refund and just wait to find the booklet for cheap.

Was about to add FFXII to my collection but remembered that I borrowed it many, many years ago from a friend I haven't seen in at least 6 years.  Guess it's still his :\

I had the full silver edition once but then I moved and lost everything I had. I really miss my map and guide. Lucky duck, you are.. 81 for under $10? thats literally a STEAL! Jealousy inflames me.  ;D

I love that box as well - if I happen to never see that particular friend again, well... this will be a pleasant reminder of him.

And yes, the .hacks have the discs in them :)  Probably paid more than I should've, especially since a few days later someone was selling all four CIB with all the guides + the first G.U. guide for $120 BIN.  I should've nabbed it for resale/replacements but was already feeling some buyer's remorse from the purchase of pt 3 & 4.

I'd almost say, of you haven't heard from him in 6 years. It may be up for fair game... sounds a little shady, but if he never comes back for it ever...

I got super lucky on Quarantine if I remember correctly. For some reason the 2-4th games in that set fetch a lot of money, even w/o the anime discs.

Checked out a new game store in town and they actually had some Saturn games! They also had a black label of Onimusha: Warlords for a good price and mint condition, so snagged it, Onimusha 2 and Tekken Tag to replace the original games I had and traded off years ago. Unfortunately... their stickers won't come off nicely, so I have to run to the store to get some Goo Gone. :(

At least their prices seem decent. The few places that have Saturn games around here seem to think that it's reasonable to ask 20$ for common sport games.

I was in a buddy's wedding this weekend, so I wasn't able to get out much.  I did manage to snag one gem though, Mega Man X Collection (GC) :D  I also picked up Spy Hunter (PS2) and Guilty Gear X Reload (XBox).

At the bachelor party, one of my friends said he had something for me.  I go out to his car and he hands me a box with an Atari 2600 in it with a bunch of games and accessories!  I love my friends!  The system doesn't work, which is OK since I already have 3 working 2600 systems.  There were two joysticks, two paddles and two other controllers and about 20 games, all common I believe.  Most of the manuals were in there too.  Half I already had, but I ended up with about ten games I didn't already own.  I can't remember which ones, so I'll be adding them to my collection a little later.

Okay then :P It IS a hard to find game, so I figure you wouldn't have found it much cheaper, unless you would have stumbled upon it at a garage sale or flea market, which would require ungodly luck.
As long as you're happy with your purchase it's all good.

On a random side note, if any of you are bidding up a complete copy of Hagane: The Final Conflict on eBay right now...STOP! For the love of god...since when does $200 not get me a complete SNES game that isn't Earthbound or Ninja Gaiden Trilogy?

EDIT: Picked up a few CIB Genny games today to replace some cart only copies I had. Nothing special, just Sonic 1 and Sonic Spinball.

While I was out I also picked up:

Sword of Vermillion (GEN) CIB
Soviet Strike (SAT) CIB
Mad Dog McCree (SCD) CIB

$5. It's damn near mint.

Still Sealed?

Either way, that's a great buy!

*EDIT*

Nevermind...I didn't see that tiny, little "near mint" until after I posted.

That's still a steal :)

Well I caved and ordered FFIII. It was in too much of a good condition for me not to get it.
Let's not talk about the price I paid seeing as I'm already broke xD

No, I got lucky. This one had just been posted when I saw it and it was about half the price other people are asking for for the game in a similar condition.

Today I got stuff!

And by stuff I mean a dreamcast (with hookups, controller, web browser disc and a 3rd party memory card), bundled with 15 games.

The Last Blade 2
Soul Calibur
Sword of the berserk
Time Stalkers
Silver
Ecco The Dolphin Defender of the future
Crazy Taxi 2
Evolution
Evolution 2
Hydro Thunder
Sonic Adventures 2
Skies of Arcadia
Crazy Taxi
Shenmue 1
Shenmue 2 (japanese version, of course) *Edit: and by japanese version, I mean european version... lol*

So a replacement dreamcast and a bunch of games, yay!

And I ended up talking with the guy who sold it to me for over an hour... turns out he used to be a game tester... and HATED it. So we talked about that, and about games, and about cars, and about movies, and about how Montreal and Toronto suck... It was fun :P

Remember Wet (on PS3 and Xbox 360), how one year it was supposed to be at E3 and they decided not to go at the last second? It was his fault, because he figured out the E3 demo was too glitched to show off, and because he wrote a 5 page document about why the game sucked in its current form.

@ Jobocan:

About two of those DC games that you just got...

How is the Sword of the Berserk game?
(Is it related to the Berserk anime (which I love)?!

And...Skies of Arcadia:

Do you know what (if any) differences there are between it & the Game-Cube version?

Yeah, Sword of the Berserk is based on the Berserk manga. It takes place some time after the anime, not during the current manga arc, but the one that ended fairly recently (which lasted from volume 22 to volume 35). Sadly it's not too great. You sword somehow can't go through walls and a lot of battles take place in narrow hallways so you're constantly getting your attacks stopped mid-swing by surrounding walls since Guts' sword is so huge. It's not terrible, but it could be better.

For Skies of Arcadia, sadly I don't really know the differences. I'm guessing the GC version had a minor graphical upgrade, and I know there's extra content in the GC version but I have no idea what that extra content is.

Not Jobocan, but I can answer.

Skies of Arcadia for the GC had less random battles than the Dreamcast version, for one. You can usually take 3 steps before being attacked instead of just one.  :P You get more exp per battle on the GC version to make up for the difference, I believe.

The stuff that happens on the VMU in the Dreamcast version have to happen on screen for the GC, of course. This is basically just the Cham search, unless I'm forgetting something.

They GameCube one also has a few more discoveries to find when you are treasure hunting. As far as I know, these are the only differences between the games.

Thanks!

I was thinking that I'd heard something about additional/optional bosses and/or fights that you could find in one of the versions, but I wasn't sure if they were *added* to GC...or if they were *removed* from the DC version...

...Seems like I must have been thinking of another game (I own the GC version -but- haven't gotten around to playing it yet :(

Mentioned this before, but I just received, once again, Mr Gimmick on NES, as a reproduction cart from retrousb.com... the first time they sent it to me it didn't work... then it took about 2 weeks to get their mailing address to send it for repair, then they took them over a month to repair it, but now it works and it's pretty badass. Quite surprising graphics/physics-wise considering it's an NES game.

Now to figure out how to input this in my collection since it's a repro. "Unofficial release", or "Unreleased"?

Not a new game, but I'm excited about it. I bought the Chrono Trigger Original Sound Version soundtrack. I've been wanting to get it for awhile and finally found a reasonably priced copy on Amazon (In the US to boot). Now I just need to get the 3 disc set for FFVI and I'll have the soundtracks to 2 of my favorite games of all time.

Yes, but then you'd have to track down stuff like, the SoulCalibur II LE Strat Guide for the CD that came with it, or Deathsmiles, Raiden IV and Solatorobo: Red the Hunter, for their bundled CDs. Or the Catherine Artbook & Soundtrack. ;)

The legality is obviously questionable and you wouldn't actually own them, but if you just want to hear these OSTs, *link redacted by Foxhack* has a ton on the torrents. (As well as crazy amounts of other stuff. Grim Fandango fan novelization, anyone?) Some of them have been fan assembled, so keep an eye out if you actually are looking for original OSTs, but there are so many that were only released in Japan and were bringing upwards of $80-100 each that I wanted, I caved and have never regretted it.

At one point I thought I misplaced the CD. I spent the better part of a week cleaning shelving units and looking in boxes from moving... found it mixed in with my PC cds... It's now back in it's right full holder. I'd never want to have to buy a replacement, it's possibly the most valuable piece of swag I own.
Title: Re: May 2012 - Recently Added To Collection/Recently Purchased

My "Order":

1).  Games (99% of the time the words "games" and "rpg's" can be used interchangeably, in my case).

2).  OST's

3).  Strategy Guides

4). Other/Misc.

*NOTE* that, for me, "2" & "3" are tied...and barely under "1".
and "4" is a long way from "2" and "3".

So my "interest levels" (on a scale from 1 to 10) would be:

"1" = 10/10

"2" and "3" = 8/10 and

"4" = 3/10

How about for the rest of you?

Picked up some new stuff today. I went to pick up my Circle Pad Pro and while I was there I spotted a copy of Dawn of Sorrow, only this was a "Konami's Best" release and I've never seen it before, so I snatched that up. Also, I found P3 Portable and decided to give this version a shot, since I've heard 2 camps saying which is better, this or FES. Now I just have to find my charging cable for the PSP... since it's battery is bone dry (naturally).

I've got  FES (for the PS2) and the P3Portable version that you just got as well.

So far, I've only played the PS2 one (which I loved).

IIRC, the differences are that, in the PSP version, you can also play as a female protagonist (obviously changing/adding social-links) and you have control over your entire party instead of just controlling the main w/ the rest controlled by AI).

Also, I think that "The Answer" is missing on the PSP version (no great loss, imo).

I *think* that the rest of the changes are just the obvious differences in cut-scenes, voice-acting, etc.

I have both as well, I tried playing P3P and instantly didn't like the way the cutscenes are handled, and they way navigating areas work. I like being able to walk around the town areas in FES... not this scrolling and point/click adventuring. So far I'd say that the P3FES version is much better than the stripped down PSP version.

Agreed.

The only thing that really even has the PSP version on my backlog (towards the bottom of it) is some interest in seeing the story/social-link differences in playing through the game as a girl.

Funny thing, both of these items work perfectly, but the DC needs a good cleaning. I'll probably trade the Garou disc, I was going to have it polished but damn, these DC discs are really tough.

A trip to a Gamestop (patooie) that was in an area I never get to netted me a few DS games that I haven't seen in stores either ever or in a long time, so for under $30 I got:

Eco-Creatures: Save the Forest
Theresia...
Again
and Ontamarama.

So a Majesco game, a random Tecmo crime game, an Aksys game, and an Atlus game. Hope at least one of them is fun!

Nice.

I just recently (like a month or 2 ago) found out (while reading the back of a Guilty Gear case) that Majesco is not only in N.J...but it's also less than an hour from my house.

It's really amazing that I could have *NOT* known that for as long as I have :P

The B2G1 Free at GS (patooie) is great if you can find copies with cover art and manuals. Went in yesterday and got Devil May Cry 2, MGS 3, and Rogue Galaxy, an Eye Toy and PS2 remote all for under $20.

Most proud of the Shining Force Neo guide I found in great condition for $3. It was in a bargain bin at this local used bookstore. Then I went over to their used games section and saw they were selling the game itself for $22... smh

Picked up a cart only of Mega Man Soccer today for the SNES. Pretty happy to find it in the wild. I spent $20 on it which might be a tad high, but oh well :)

Koala Lumpur: Journey to the Edge - $4.

So a little while ago I was browsing eBay, looking for a game I've wanted for some time, and I saw this at a seller's storefront. I decided I'd buy it if I ever got the money to buy the other game... and today it was right there in a bag of stuff. The box is beat up but it's brand new. Eh.

And I just noticed the crease across the box is kinda aligned with the tiretrack... haha.

Picked up a few odds n' ends while I was out.

RBI Baseball '95 - Sega 32X
NBA Jam - Sega CD
NHL '94 - Sega CD
Jeopardy! - Sega CD
Power Rangers - Sega CD
Dracula Unleashed - Sega CD
NFL's Greatest San Francisco Vs Dallas 1978-1993 - Sega CD

Nothing too terribly interesting, but the Sega CD stuff was worth it for some decent/intact cases.

Well the mail carrier came today and delivered me a copy of:Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver: The Official Pokemon Johto Guide & Johto Pokedex: Official Strategy Guide

It was less than 10 shipped so I was really happy about it! Unfortunately I had wanted to buy: Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver The Official Pokemon Kanto Guide National Pokedex: Official Strategy Guide

Not my finest moment.

I picked up my 2 pre-ordered copies of Game of Thrones for the PS3.

I also used up like a $5 gift-card balance, and got 10% off for having that silver "whatever-the-hell-they-call-it" card...and an additional 10% off for getting the game & guide together which all added up to me paying ~ $13 (out-of-pocket) to pick up the Prima strategy-guide for it as well

Each one came w/ a 64 page, hardcover art-book; *signed* by George RR Martin (so I have 2 of them - and they're both individually sealed).

This is where I hit that "Gamer vs. Collector" conflict.

I mean...there can be no doubt about how highly-collectible, rare, sought-after, and valuable these signed art-books will (eventually) become...so...rather than open either one of the books up & looking through them...they both sit (and will continue to sit) on my shelf *Sealed*

Anyone else do stuff like this (disliking ourselves for it as we do it)...or is it just me?!@

Generally, I don't pick up things to keep them sealed. I buy them open them and enjoy them myself and usually don't worry about it affecting it's value. Right now, the only game I have bought new that is still sealed, is Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. But that's only because I haven't had time to finish GS and GS:LA.

I do have some sealed Saturn games, a Castlevania - NES Classics for GBA, and a Naruto game for PS2 that are all still sealed. I was tempted to crack open the copy of D that I got from Foxhack, but have since decided to leave it sealed.

A lot of things I open up so I can scan the discs/carts for the site, which I suppose I make a priority over future value. Plus I've said before that most everything I own won't be given/traded/sold off until I am old and grey and ready to pass it to my kids or to other collectors.

6 months ago, I owned nothing other than my Lunar puppet that I can recall is still sealed. Since then, I have acquired quite a few things sealed and plan to leave them that way. Most of them are items I found at thrift stores or really good prices on interesting items. I did buy a fair share of sealed DW/DQ games lately however.

I agree, if I find a sealed game for Saturn or GB I'll keep it sealed. But new games I crack those bad boys right open, there is no way I'd not allow myself to play Xenoblade, for example, just because it's "rare". But if I found a sealed copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga and the goober was selling it for $20, i'd leave it sealed for sure.

I was more talking about things like the signed & sealed art-books...I've already cracked-open the game itself and (fervently hope that), once I get done/caught-up w/ adding my things here...it will be one of the next games that I get around to playing...

Diablo III CE came today! I'm installing it now, while thumbing through the Artbook. Man, everything about this set is well done, the packaging is high quality, the artbook is nicely bound and the soundtrack has a very nice case. The Diablo skull is a little small, but still really really cool. I'm pretty sure this is the best, most worth it CE I've ever bought.

... it's flipping sweet

That's pretty true. While I'll remain annoyed at the lack of customizing, the gameplay is still super solid, and they actually improved a couple things from the beta. The enemies are tougher, the skills are given out in different order so you're less overpowered... and it's actually possible to die, something I didn't see in the beta. Very nice.

My big problem right now though is... well... I'm playing single-player, but I'm at the mercy of a server, so I get frequent lag, and if the servers blow up I can't play the game at all. It's just dumb. A large part of the day people couldn't even play it. Great job Blizzard; the biggest launch of the year and you screw it up.
It's like they forgot to stress test their servers and work out any potential issues even during the busiest days of the beta. I'd understand if this were an MMORPG, WoW/Everquest expansion releases always have issues, but this is a single-player game with a co-op mode, there's literally no reason to be bound to a server other than to play multiplayer.

I have the rest of the week off since we're prepping for OUR garage sale which starts tomorrow, so I was able to hit a few this morning.  There are a TON of garage sales this weekend; it's a shame I'm going to miss them while I'm sitting on my porch hoping people haul off our junk :D

I picked most of these up over the last 2 days. The Nash jersey was $5, the PC games were $3 each and complete. The Stix 200 thing was only $3 and you will see why I bought it in the next photo.

This stuff was inside the Stix 200 box. I know that it is worth about what I paid but I have never found anything like this before. The videos on the disc are pretty much just TV spots but there is also "Rough Cut" of a TV ad so that is cool.

Lastly I thought these needed their own picture. They are all complete including any inserts they came with. I overpaid for Shadows of the Empire but I under paid for the Zeldas so I figured it all evened out. The original plastic is still there on the Zelda games just the one side was cut open.

Not that particular variant. I sold one of those for more than $50 last winter. Really beat up.

You can't really buy that version anymore, you can only buy the Battle.net edition, and that doesn't include the original Warcraft. Blizzard doesn't sell it anymore.

Finally picked up the Diablo III LE strategy guide today. I had it on pre order thru Amazon, but the assholes over sold it and I never got a shipping confirmation... so I searched around town. and snagged the last copy from Best Buy. The shitty part is, I would a saved money on the Amazon order, since it was a special price, but rather than never have it show up, I'd rather pay full retail and know I have it.

Also the Xenoblade Chronicles Art book came today! Thanks again soera for handing these out!

And lastly, I found an excellent deal on Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 - Collectors Edition (ps2) and it should be arriving soonish. I'm excited... to rip that soundtrack to my iPod.

Scott:

What, exactly, is this Persona 3 PS2 CE that you're talking about?

Is it just the PS2 Persona 3 FES w/ the ost?

Also, since "scanning" was just mentioned...what all shows up when you scan the barcode of a game?

Does it fill in *all* of the blanks that we do when entering a game manually (including what the back of the box says)...or just basic bar-code, item #, release date kind of stuff?

What do scanners cost -and- are they simple to connect & use (to a computer and/or a PS3)?

Seems that one could save me many hours of adding different items...

Rogue Squadron (N64)    - $6
Rebel Leader: Rogue Squadron III  (GameCube) - $7
Banjo & Tooie (N64)   -  For FREE!!!  Cool Guy Discount strikes again!

I really don't remember which Ps2 Persona games I bought when...but, right now, "PS2-Wise" I have P3: FES and P4, ost's for both, and an art book for P4...somehow I seem to have missed-out on the P3 art-book :(

Anyhow...just back from a garage sale.

Nothing spectactular; but, for $10.00 I went home with:

Brutal Legend (PS3) CIB; Disc is mint (I already have several of these, but for $2.00...wtf)?!

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames (PS2) CIB; Disc is mint (never heard of it or played it)

Medal of Honor: Vanguard (PS2/Greatest-Hits) CIB; Disc is mint (never played any of these, but I'm sure that it's far from rare:)

Jumper: Griffin's Story (PS2/Sealed) (Never heard of it...no idea what kind of game it even is) and

ZOO Hospital (Wii/Sealed) (totally flying blind here -never owned a Wii & know nothing about its games)...but all of this has *got to* be worth $10 or more; right...right???

I picked up Brutal Legend for $3 new at Best Buy back in November... they were super cheap back then for some reason, so when I see it going for $20 sometimes, I laugh.

It's a good game - certainly worth more than $3.

I picked it up of $10 a couple of years ago.  It's an awesome game.  I liked all the different types of gameplay.  As for the music, the metal angle they went with was sweet.  But then again, I'm a metal guy.

We had our garage sale today and I parted with some NES and Genesis doubles.  I also unloaded my project Super Sprint arcade cabinet and it's going to a good home, so I'm happy with that.

After our sale closed, I checked CL to see if there were any good sales in the area and I found one nearby with NES stuff, so we hurried over there and I came home with a dozen boxes and about 20 or so manuals, plus a NES Action Set box.  Most of the boxes are in pristine condition!  I'm very pleased with my finds today.

I walked into Goodwill yesterday and I found this in their showcase:

I have never actually seen one for sale so I figured that I would ask to take a look at it. I called someone over and they brought out all the games. I thought I would try my luck and see if I could get a discount on it. I ask the cashier if it's the right price, she looks at it and bursts out laughing. She shows it to the other cashiers and they start to laugh too. She asks me to wait and she runs off to the back to see if the price is right. I figured that she was going to talk to the guy who priced it and say that the price was right or worse yet he was going to come out and he was going to tell me about how "it sells for 150 on ebay" and that I am getting a deal. When she comes back in about a minute she shows me the back and I get it for a bit better price:

Going from $65 down to $5 I'd say that it was worthwhile asking. I have wanted this game for at least 5 or 6 years so to finally have it made my week or month. Now I just need to find some time to actually play it!

You got lucky ... when I found my Zelda board game, it was at a thrift store marked 49.99. I tried the same approach (I walked to the counter and asked the guy if it was supposed to be 4.99 and that someone messed up) and the dipshit proceeds to pull out his phone and says "Lets google this game". I was like dude, its a thrift store ... if I wanted to buy things from Ebay, I wouldnt be in your store right now. He then tells me that its 200.00 on Ebay and that 49.99 was a great price. Some old bitch was standing at the end of the counter (not even an employee, just some noisy old whore) and tells him that she thinks 49.99 was a perfect price. I wanted to smack the hell out of both of them.

But I bought it anyhow. :(

I haven't really thrifted much this year, since I've been super busy. Today, we headed down to the dirt mall flea market that we rarely get to.

First thing in the door, I pick up Daedalian Opus for the Gameboy - $10. Might be a bit high, but I'd never seen it in the wild, and it had the box.

Then, in the strangest twist of fate ever, we find this booth with a Korean lady selling Japanese DS games. I asked her if she had the boxes for any of them (all my DS games are complete) and she starts digging out boxes.

I ended up with Sakura Note, the Japanese version of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, and Ni no Kuni. Total cost for those: $35. Needless to say, I'm ecstatic...especially now that Ni no Kuni is not going to be released for the DS internationally.

I love finding random stuff like that.

Did Ni No Kuni come with the book too?

No book, but $15 after shipping for the book on eBay still makes the game much cheaper than it would have been getting it imported by normal means.

I just traded for a "Resonance" preorder at GOG. I ended up saving about six bucks.

Now I only have to wait a month for the game to be released. :\

I was just in a GS looking at their PS2 B2G1 PS2 games...

Noticed that they had both PS2 Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance games.

Apparently, some employee mis-labeled them as Dark Alliance I (not rare or valuable at all) was tagged at just under $40...and Dark Alliance II (actually kinda' hard to find & valuable) was tagged at $4.95.

So, I picked-up a copy of Dark Alliance II, RPG Maker III (never had one/always wanted to try/check one out), and Obscure: the Aftermath...

...W/ the B2G1 sale...it cost ~ $10.00 altogether.

*Also*, of note, is that my other copy of Dark Alliance II (while pristine) includes only 1 game disc & the manual while the copy I just bought came w/ 1 game disc, a manual, and an extra "Interactive/Game-Guide" Disc...

Anyone know if someone just snagged this out of my original copy...or was it a "send-in for bonus/guide disc" kind of thing?

Thanks-

While I wouldn't exactly consider that manual an "extra" (I have "my copy" w/ the case & manual and my (eventually) "for sale" copy w/ the case & manual...I am sure that I do have some extra manuals that I have no use for laying around somewhere...and when I get to them...I'll be adding them to the "Pay it Forward" thread for anyone that wants/needs 'em.

Actually, I *DO* have an extra manual in good shape for (the DS version) of FF III...

Guess I can add that to the other thread for now until I find the rest of them...

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 arrived today. I know have all three versions of the game. I mostly wanted this one for the soundtrack album, since I've had the Iwatodai Dorm song stuck in my head for awhile now. Everything is accounted for and in great shape, though the outer box has some shelf wear.

My bad -

When I wrote about the 'Bonus' Disc that came w/ the PS2 version of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 before...the disc actually says:
"Non-Interactive" and I had written it as "Interactive".

At any rate, curiosity got the best of me & I popped the disc in just to see exactly what it was...and I was pleasantly surprised!

It had the 4 headings:

"History",
"Character",
"Hints and Tips", and
"Gallery".

It had a ton of back-story, developers talking and Q & A, slideshows, trivia, and "making-of" features on it.

I'm still surprised that I'm just now learning of its existence!

I'm thinking that it either had to be given out, promotionally, at an event -or- ordered/sent-away for because:

A).  None of the DA: 2 cases are "double-disc" cases, and

B).  There's no mention on the box/packaging about it, either.

...just weird...

TMNT because I heard it wasn't that bad, and The Office... well... I have no idea why.

Had a pretty good score today outside of an EB Games. I had just bought Dragon Age Ultimate Edition(Finally I have been looking for this for months!) and as I was leaving I saw a mother and 2 kids coming in to sell some stuff. I told her that they wouldn't take any of the older stuff they had and I offered to take it off her hands so we agree on $20 and then I offer another $10 for the DS games and then my son found a couple Xbox games that he wanted so I offered another $10 for the Xbox games since I knew I was getting a really good deal already. And now the picture:

I should have mentioned that I was looking at & talking about the "bottom" price on the stickers (10% off (iirc) for having the silver 'points' card) - so they actually would have been listed a little higher.

Yesterday's finds.

Today's finds...

The Legend of Heroes: Sora no Kiseki the 3rd (Chinese version) - $2
Codebreaker DJ (PS1/2) - $8 shipped from Canada
50 Cent Bulletproof preorder concert DVD (new) - $1
Pile of Pokemon cards - $1

And here's the contents of that big box...
Artbook, instruction manual, some sort of phone card, two CD OST (sealed), spiral notebook (unused) with the game disc. This appears to be complete as far as I can tell. The phone card has been scratched, sadly. I wasn't going to buy it but I noticed the soundtrack, so I figured, $2, why not? The artbook is still in Japanese.

That Codebreaker DJ is a visualization program for PS1 and PS2. You pop it in, it loads, then you load your own music CD. I didn't really care about it, I mostly wanted the bonus CD included with it. ;p

Once you get done buying all the main stuff you want, you end up buying the stuff that was "too expensive" before which turns into "What the hell else do I have to spend my money on?" Ive picked up a few sealed DW items recently cause my main part of the collection was complete myself!

Gotta catch 'em all!

You know you might be buying too much on the internet if you receive two different packages addressed to you and have no idea what might be in either of them.

I got some shoes I'd ordered and had so thoroughly forgotten about this one, I almost thought it was a belated bday gift:

@desocietas: I LOVE that game. Although I liked the navigation in 2 better (you can skip the beginnings of songs where you don't play, like in Elite Beat Agents), the track listing on this one is great.

If you're planning on unlocking all the difficulty levels and everything, I hope you like Ready Steady Go...I love that song, but I bet I heard it 200 times by the time I actually got through it on the final difficulty level. That's what's kept me from finishing 2...I don't like the ending song as well and it's hard to punch through it time and time again.

I've been kicking myself for years for not buying it on Amazon when it was available.  But I finally found someone selling it for under $25, so that was enough for me.  I played the first song and so far so good.  If anything, I know nothing about the Japanese language so am just guessing the at what's written on the screen.

PS2:

Crash Bandicoot The Wrath of the Cortex
Metal Gear Solid 3

XBox:
Prince of Persia Warrior Within

Books:
Guinness Book of Video Game Records 2008

No, not a Barbie game. VIP for the Playstation starring Pamela Anderson. It cost me $1.33 cents. (The other stuff I picked up along with it were the soundtracks to the original Terminator and Freddy Vs Jason. Heh.)

Also of note, I grabbed The Network (http://www.desura.com/games/the-network) by Aqua Fox Studio at Desura. It is a kind of shoot-em up game which plays ... quite well. That was one dollar.

Anyhow, figured I couldn't go too wrong at 3 for $10.

If anyone knows if any of these are anything decent (or not) - feel free to let me know :)

PS1 Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six

PS1`Final Doom

PS1 Zero Divide (*Long-Box*)

All discs scratch-free and all CIB.

Well, the annoying search is over. I have acquired the final skylander - Wham shell. I had been going to Toys R Us every Thursday morning at open for 5 weeks now. I have been going to Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, and Gamestop every chance I get ... none of the places I visited had ever even seen Wham Shell. I got frustrated and decided to look on Ebay. It looked like someone had just posted a $21 BIN price (it couldnt have been there more than 12 minutes at most). Considering all the gas and time it was going to cost me to eventually find him for $10 + tax, I said screw it and bought it. He arrived today. Not a bad character. But the savings in frustration and the hug I got from my son when he saw it was all worth the extra $10.

If I had known someone else needed Camo/Warnado, I would have sent you the link I sent Amariel. Toys R Us had the 3 pack with them 2 and Ignitor for a few days.

As for determination, its a bit of that tied with the obsession of my kid to every day ask me to get him Wham Shell. I really was unwilling to pay the $60-75 apiece the people on Ebay wanted so I would try to find it on the shelf. But it brings back Hot Wheel nightmares and I couldnt keep doing it. Plus its worth it to spend an extra $10 to not have to do anymore searching at all til Giants (which is supposed to release around Sept/Oct).

I went hunting for games this weekend in various places...  I picked up one of those promotional posters from GameStop of Tales of Graces f.  It has a huge 'Available 3/12' bar on the bottom, but it's easy to cut off, so it'll be a nice poster for that game room that I don't have.  xD

I also picked up the first compilation of the Mega Man Archie comics (http://www.amazon.com/Mega-Man-Let-Games-Begin/dp/1879794853/ref=pd_sim_b_1).  I was interested in reading it, and was looking for just the first issue when I saw this, so that worked out.

Finally, I picked up Super Princess Peach (DS).  We weren't sure if we wanted to actually get the game for the going price, and debating whether we could find it complete again, when some mom and her kids walked in and the daughter was saying that she wanted the game really bad... they ended up not getting it, thank goodness, so we grabbed it up after they left.  :p

I was hesitant to pull the ebay trigger on Wham shell too. But the price actually wasnt too bad considering its going to save me many hours of headache. And it arrived in 2 days. So it was worth it.

I picked up a NES top loader a couple days ago from Craig's List for $15 ... I figured something would be wrong with it cause the price seemed too good. I got it and once I got home, I figured out wtf was up. It looked like it was just dug up from a 20 year grave. The AV and RF cables were both trash, the controllers were both trash. I was bummed. But I got a 4.5 bit and got it opened. After about an hour of cleaning/washing/alcoholing the hell out of it, its like brand new now! And the good thing is from that large buyout I had a little while back, I had spares of all the cords so it turned out good. :)

$15 is an amazing deal on a toploader, even if you had to tear the thing down and clean it extensively.  They normally go for 4-5 times that amount (or more).

Not all that many years ago (maybe 2 or 3) my mother contacted Nintendo about our old system and controllers. Even though their site says they no longer carry old parts and accessories, at that time they sent her some new controllers...and they were dogbones. Not sure if you want to bother, but it might be worth a shot.

Blasphemy! The dogbone fixed the annoying sharp corners of the original and made the thing comfortable to hold for hours on end. :)

I've never head a problem with the original controller's so called "sharp corners".  ;)

I loved my dogbone when I first got it but after a couple hours of playing it just doesn't feel right so I switched back.

I walked into GS today to try to make use of my 20% off bday coupon...

On the left item's spine, you'll find an example of a GS employee trying to save a collector some grief - the price sticker backing is still attached, making removal *very* easy.  The other price stickers in the same item's corner are at least on the case itself, and not on the artwork.

The item, on the right, however...

I'll swing by another GS or two in the next few days to see if I can make use of the B2G1 deal that's goin' on for the older systems - that'll really sweeten the deal on this find.

Nice! Does that Outbreak have the anime disc? Also tough luck on that spine sticker. Though I will say, I have a copy of Burnout 3: Takedown and it had the spine sticker treatment on it. I spent about 15 minutes playing with it and eventually was able to remove it without damaging the artwork, hope you have as good of luck on it as I did!

Outbreak does indeed have the anime disc; when I opened up the case in the store, I immediately thought, "@scott's gonna want to make sure this has the anime disc."  ::)  No manual, unfortunately...  :'(

I was able to remove all the stickers pretty easily, though the spine sticker on Outbreak seems to have done a little damage already to the color (probably an older sticker from when it was originally labeled) but all in all still happy with the unexpected finds.  They must've been traded in recently because the employee was a little dismayed that she didn't catch them on the shelf before I did.  ;D

On a related note, NEVER put Post-its on anything that you're trying to preserve.  As handy as they are, the glue is not archival and will leave a residue and eventually stain.  Many adhesives are not archival (but for some reason, glue stick is...?).  /libraryemployeerant

Picked up Warhammer 40000: Space Marine finally. It was marked down $20 and have been meaning to get it since release, and I'm kinda a big fan of the 40k universe. If only the main hobby of war gaming wasn't so expensive.. I'd be building up a sweet Space Marine tabletop army.

I got into Warhammer stuff 15 years ago, decided that it was too expensive and just stuck with the Space Hulk box sets.

I still have the original box set with the two expansions Genestealers and Deathwing I missed out on the second release but I did get the newest one when it first came out and boy is it hard to find now.
